A typical day on BP 2015: superlegofanresseler3476: EV is crap. Ewoks were to the OT as what Jar Jar was to the prequels. Nobody likes them. And who wants a set that's nothing but a bunch of trees? Really LEGO? Trees?! Plus, if you check the stock tracker in Europe you'll see that they have plenty on hand. Probably enough to last 12 months at least. I've been tracking the sales of this one along with a dozen other sets every day and I can tell you that EV is the worst selling exclusive released since 2013 with more than 1,750 elements and less than 18 minifigures. Total crap. I've also been watching Amazon and this is never selling for more than $290 Prime so if that doesn't tell you everything you need to know than I don't know what you're doing in this game. I'm not getting any of these for my own collection or to flip. There are so many other better sets to put my money in right now. superlegofanresseler3476: OMG!!!1!!1!! It's gone?! Damn, I'm going to take the day off work today and hit all the LEGO stores I can. I've got two in my state plus the neighboring states, hopefully I can pick up about 23 by the time the day is over. I'm going to bring my nephew and his friend along. They'll do anything for Hot Dog On A Stick. Anyway, I love this set and it's going to be huge this Christmas. You all know The Force Awakens is coming out, right? It doesn't get any bigger than that. This is like the perfect storm of LEGO flipping. Where's George Clooney? Oh but just in case I'm not able to get any, if anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it. I really need to have one for sure, I can't wait to have this displayed with my Sideshow Scout Trooper.15 points

Based on one of the most iconic vehicles in animated history is a well priced set at $29.99 to include a total of 301 pieces, a cast of four minifigures between Shaggy, his faithful companion Scooby-Doo, exclusive (at the moment) Fred, and the witch's zombie aka Zeke from episode thirteen "Which Witch is Which?". Obviously for any fan of the classic series, this is a 'must have'. I know for me it is.2 points

Finally to round up this first wave of sets, here at the price of $89.99 includes 860 pieces and a whopping seven minifigures between exclusive Velma followed by Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, and three crooked criminals to catch with the Black Knight aka Mr. Wickles from the very first memorable episode that started it all "What a Night for a Knight", the Ghost aka Bluestone the Great from the first season's third episode "Hassle in the Castle", and then the Vampire aka "Big Bob" Oakley from season one's eleventh episode "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts". The mansion itself is a mix of different locales one of which could be the haunted mansion in the opening credits for the original show and a greenhouse section I can recall from an episode yet cannot remember the title of it for the life of me (and so far Google isn't helping any). Anyway although the manor is not specific to any one case from the series, the overall appearance and inclusion of so many main characters plus classic crooks all from the original first season make this the other 'must buy' along with The Mystery Machine I think.2 points

I too bought a Jokerland today. $70 out the door after the 25% off coupon, 10% TRUTH, and 20% off GCs.2 points

Remember when some people thought this set would somehow devalue the Haunted House? Granted I think that was before it was revealed, but still...2 points

Yeah... this is one example of a small set that is a giant success. I knew it would become a success but only bought two cause I thought I had still time to buy these. They disappeared almost overnight.2 points

So back from my Smyths trek and talk about random as hell, so I visited like 5 Smyths and this is what I ended up with: 5 x Lonely Mountains £50 each 5 x Phoenix Temples £50 each 2 x Chima Ice Mammoths £30 each 9 x Movie melting rooms £5 each 14 x Hobbit Witch king battle £5 each (funnily enough another person maybe one of u? had a trolley full of these must of had like 30) 4 x Bennys spaceship £50 each 3 x Movie dropships £30 each and last but not least, I was totally amazed to see 6 Movie Castle cavalry (was never interested in this set but not seen them anywhere for the last 6 months) for £10 each! Talk about random. I passed on a load of Ultra Agents stuff at half off, a load of misc Chima stuff at half off and a couple of the mid sized Hobbit sets at half off again. So a good afternoon trip out, and as I expected the are just emptying all there old stock into random stores. So again if you have time it's worth a visit but be quick this stuff is going to go fast!2 points

I guess it depends. For me it's 1. Slave I 2. X-Wing 3. Tumbler Also because personally I don't like the tumbler :-P I wouldn't want to have it on display instead of one of the other two... actually I don't want to have it on display at all :-P (maybe if Emazer or somebody else here wanted to give me one for free under the condition that I don't sell it but build and display it I would though... actually I really would be interested in building it ^.^ but that's all). The minifigs are nice, even though batman isn't anything special anymore. The Joker minifig is overrated but will probably stay overrated so that alone might be a pusher! (So that's a wildcard if you ask me!) But there have been so many batmobiles already and the tumbler is only one of them. Next movie there will be another one. And in the computer games there already are other ones... so I don't think it will stay as iconic as the X-Wing or Slave I for example. So the Joker minifigs is the biggest PLUS the set has going for it and if it wouldn't be included I wouldn't have any doubts about the superiority of X-Wing and Slave I.2 points

Retailing for $49.99 is a set comprised of 437 pieces and five minifigures including Scooby, Shaggy (exclusive seaweed torso print), fashionable Daphne, and the two criminals of the Lighthouse Keeper aka Verona Dempsey from the third episode in the third season of What's New, Scooby Doo? titled "Fright House of a Lighthouse" and the Swamp Monster aka Mr. Brown (as per the official LEGO site). This is the first set to have two separate cases come together in one setup. It does work well and I'm sure kids will have fun making up their own stories. To note there was an older episode involving a lighthouse keeper character in the Scooby-Doo/Richie Rich Show on the very first episode "Lighthouse Keeper Scooby" who actually was a real ghost and had little to do with the criminal here based on the latter episode aside from the basic design and idea. As for the other, there is no "Mr. Brown" character in the encyclopedia of crooks (that I can find) and the closest to any sort of Swamp Monster was in episode nine "Soggy Bog Scooby" of the first season for the Scooby-Doo/Richie Rich Show which just like the former lighthouse keeper was an actual monster. There was a Sea Demon in The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries which in appearance at least looks very much like LEGO's Swamp Monster but that costume was worn by two thieves neither with the last name of "Brown".1 point

Yes. Awesome set but it's so massively hoarded, it will take a while. I mean there's a newbie on here that has stockpiled 150 of these. Plus, I don't think this will retire for another year or two. Luckily, I'm fine with holding my stash for a few years.1 point

This was on display at Brickworld last year and this year. It is truly an incredible model. My favorite is the Stone Cutter's Temple.1 point

My sons are really into Scooby Doo (not like Star Wars, but more so than the other themes you listed). They still do movies and such and still incorporate current pop culture icons (if you remember, in the old cartoon they teamed up with Sonny and Cher, the Globetrotters, The Three Stooges, etc...) Now it Kiss (what?!) WWE wrestlers and a few others. In the end though, what will really drive the value of this is the AFOL's. My sons, who love Scooby Doo, won't be spending any money on these sets in the next 20 years (unless they buy some for retail with Birthday/Christmas money).1 point
-
At 49, you can't beat the buy in. At 69.99, i'd pass. I suspect this eventually hits over the 100 mark as Star Wars mania goes nuts from late November into 2017 and beyond. HOWEVER, I do think this set is vastly horded and so the competition to sell them will be a big shell game of moving prices over the next 3 years.1 point

Why would you think that nothing would retire? TLG is absolutely going to retire sets sometime between now and 12/31. That is a certainty. What those sets will be is a question, but there is no chance that we will make it to 1/1/16 without any sets retiring.1 point
-
I'm thinking retirement is pretty much set several months in advance. Maybe years--as soon as a set is produced, TLG has a sense of its lifespan. Knowing how LEGO operates (i.e., the quality of their business model), I'm pretty sure they do have projected production lifespans upon launch. They study the sales data and trends. A set is effectively "retired" long before we purchase the last box. Seal codes give us some clue, but we have little ideas about the size of production runs, etc. Even the EU stock tracker has proven somewhat mysterious and oddly inconsistent. Just a guess like everyone else's, but I agree it becomes complicated when a set's sales jumps like Red 5 did early this year. All of a sudden, a set has altered its sales path and doesn't provide a clear trend. I think Red 5 was likely on track for retirement this spring, but resellers smelled blood and really messed with the data. Just a hunch based on the looooong backorder time (close to three months for one of my orders). Either way, its fun to speculate.1 point

Picked up a Mystery Machine at Target today. I have a feeling that one will be the most popular by far. All of the Scooby Doo sets look good - I will pick up all but the smallest one. That one doesn't really have any appeal to me. FYI...Target seems to have a lot of the new release sets out already.1 point

You can access that link by going above to the menu "Price Guide" > EU Lego Inventory That is a handy little gauge.1 point

The occurences of the last weeks can mean two things. Either nothing will retire this year. Or alot of sets will retire at the same time (end of the year). Looks like Lego is stalling EOL of their crown sets as long as possible. For whatever reason. So better be prepared and reach your minimum quotas before that happens. So when it does happen you can chillax.1 point
