  1. Did something a little different. I purchased one of the kits designed by Chris McVeigh. I asked if I could do a video of one of his sets and he graciously accepted. Enjoy.
  2. Did you have to blow into the little slot before putting the game in? Always worked for me.
  3. Some people have $600-$800 a month to live from. So do not worry.
  4. Picked up another 20 AT-AT 75054 today. got a nice shipment of XMAS legos today too -- this is just a quick picture 2 rows deep. mixed
  5. I had someone ask me for some pictures of my 10179 wall mounted and directed him to this thread, but he told me the pictures were broken/not found.. and so they are! Maybe the forum move broke/lost them or wherever i hosted them from (can't remember) had a problem. I've taken a couple new photos as i can't find the old ones. I have not touched the thing in almost a year now. It shows no signs of warping or anything. Still the best display piece i have imo. everyone we have over loves it. I can't edit my OP to re-include them; so i'll just add them here. If a mod wants to/can move them to the OP that would be great (not sure that's possible).

  7. Hey guys just checked Smyths toys and their having a clearout on click and collect only so they might have some sets in your local store. Mainly on Movie sets and Chima, I just picked up 5 Phoenix Temple's £50 each, another 4 Benny's spaceship at £50 (they have been cheaper but still a descent price) and a set I never thought I'd buy but for £30 each I picked up 4 Movie dropships. So check the stock in your local store and worth a punt if there in stock. Oh and be quick it's not on Hotdeals yet!
  8. I think that's the main reason prices have dropped is that lego is showing a release date in the near future, so it's a current race to the bottom until it hits RRP. For how long, and how much new stock is the unknown, but they'll probably be around the lego stores, lego shops, and trickle in and out of retailers through the digital release of the film, i'd suspect. I've already boxed up and sealed a majority of the extras I bought and placed them deep in my closet to let them sit for a few years. Simply, time to move on to scooby and episode 7 and forget about it. I'm convinced, while these could be very popular over christmas, that battling with the undercutters all looking to score 15.00 on a set isn't worth the hassle, as they will be worth a lot more in the future once these retire, which i'd suspect will have about a year run and by next year will be gone.
  9. whoa whoa whoa, those hold times are reserved for one member and one member only....
  10. You still have yet to greeble the wall to look like the back of the bridge of a Star Destroyer. Tsk tsk.
  11. Wow, It's the first time in a while I had to scroll down a couple of pages to find this thread...
  12. 10181 Eiffel Tower, open box-sealed bags.
  13. Shot through the heart....and raven is to blame.
  14. To me, Slave I trumps Tumbler, but I think they're basically a tie. Boba Fett is uber popular and this Boba is the best made. If I have to choose, I'd say (because of the rabid Batman fan base and the whole Heath Ledger angle): 1. Tumbler 2. Slave I 3. Red 5 But if we're talking about investing and investment strategy, Red 5 moves to the top. It's going to be done sooner than the other two no matter how you slice your bananas. While it won't see the same % return, you'll (likely) be able to sell for profit and roll your $$ into one of the others.
  15. Pic #2 is my favorite. Some of the studs are cut off near the front of the ship.
  16. and if the pictures are correct the pictures were taken in Oct 2014 and amazingly all of them at 9:00pm (not one minute off)
  17. sold 2x 75919 for $207 @ Amazon and buying 2x 75919 @ MSRP 5 minutes later
  18. SSD on amazon for $961.99. I needed a little extra Santa's workshop and new Minecraft working capital.
  19. That's how I play the game. Too much worth for small margin for me right now.
  20. We're actually debating moving within a year or two closer to the city (and my work) so I've put off any projects or anything that will mess with the walls and create more work for us down the line to cover up heh. Hey it is a piece of art after-all really! certainly just an expensive (if not more) than some good ones too...
  21. Is it retiring or isn't it retiring?
  22. Nah, it still lacks celebrity name drops
  23. no pic then it didn't happen! that could be a lyric out of Pitbull song
  24. Or... Stolen credit cards and they use Lego to launder money- most likely the case for some of these sellers
  25. Hey Guys! So a couple months ago i started the long painful process of brickbuilding the 10179. I had many of the parts already from having a very large collection of light gray pieces, and i had been starting to really see the imperfections and scale issues with my 7965 Falcon on display (granted it's not a display model by any means, but it was better than spending thousands for the 10179). 7965 was also the set that brought me out of the dark ages. After trying for month to get a used one on CL or Kijiji, i caved and decided to start. Once finished i realized it was much larger than i thought, and had trouble finding a spot to display it. When i finally did find a spot to display it flat; it really didn't seem to do it justice and i began researching other ways to go about displaying it. Typically i'd use 2x4 clear bricks to prop ships up into more interesting angles, but 10179 would just be too heavy for that. Sure enough there were a couple search results of people mounting it on the wall, and one specifically on YouTube that had it mounted in a way that gave it mobility by using a TV wall mount. I decided this is what i was going to go for vs. a static mount as it allowed it to move into many angles, and the user had a YouTube video with great images of what i'd have to do. This took a good few weeks to complete as there were countless issues that arose. The YouTube video does not give exact details, and finding similar/like parts he used wasn't possible. In the end my mount construction resembles his, but is certainly a bit different. While the 10179 has a very strong inner frame; there are many parts i had to reinforce with more technic liftarms and even rubber bands (i'm looking at you rear underside section). I do believe i was able to find close to the exact same mount he used, but my brackets and the LEGO part of it have been constructed differently. I also added an RGB strip to the back engines to add some flare And no it has not fallen yet haha, but i do check it every so often to see if anything is bending/giving. The first night of it being up i was dreaded of being woken up by a terrifying crash I intend to paint the LED power cord the same colour as the wall to hide it. Anyways i thought some of you might be interested in seeing it. I think this really does the model justice (or at least saves some space!). ** Edit: forum upgrade seems to have lost the pictures... go to this post for new ones. **

Yes, this is the actual THEME SONG of the movie
  27. OR, Force Awakening sets may be retiring. Well played, Lego. Well played.

  29. Yeah definitely, take a look at pics 1 and 3. In 1 near the top of the box in particular, looks fuzzy (photoshop job gone bad). Also, in 3, the trim/edge right on the top left of the falcon. The angle relative to the floor is also off, so yes, photoshop. It`s the age old saying that rings true through the ages, if it looks too good to be true, it more than likely is. At $2500, this really does coincide with that statement. Out of curiosity, what was he charging for shipping? Or was it included in the listing? Reason I ask is if it`s from Malaysia, you`re looking at a hefty shipping bill.
  30. Right... like that little black thing on the baseboard! Here's a copy of the box, with the floor cropped off: And the image used by Amazon... Pretty much a 100% match.
  31. Hi guys, Been on here now for a few weeks and as a collector/investor for the past 10 years or so I really like the site you've created. I especially like the brickfolio and how it manages the sets and values. I do have a cpl quick questions though. 1 - Where do I find a list of the abbreviations for sets? I've begun to recognize some but def come across the odd one and am clueless on it. 2- Is the there a way in the brickfolio to sort your sets under the subcategory ie Starwars by value, release date or set number. Release date by year would be sweet. Also in the same line of thinking is there a checklist incorporated into the brickfolio so I can see what sets Im missing from a specific release year under a sub category. This would be great for those of us that are collectors as well as investors. Just some ideas............=) Great site and am thankful you guys have spent the time and commitment to making it Longshot PS. Seeing the total value and brick count was definitely an eyeopener..........XO
  32. I found the first photo (of the closed box) in google .. but it was very small and so old that the link was no longer valid. The other ones came up empty though... except as I was looking at them, in the third photo it appears the parts are in the factory sealed bags? Anyways, how you do it is... 1) Save the image to your computer. 2) Go to images.google.com, click on the "camera" icon. 3) Choose to "upload" a picture. 4) Upload yours, scan the results... If somebody warermarks or crops them, it'll be hard to find a match. I've done this for a few people here and sometimes it's the first or second image found!
  33. I am currently selling on Amazon a little, but shipping myself. Can you give me the easy version of how the FBA program works and the costs associated with program? As i understand it, I PAY to ship Amazon my inventory initially, then pay them a monthly storage fee, then a slightly higher sales commission %, but then AMAZON ships the item out to the customer free? or low-cost to me? and it's almost always 2-day PRIME shipping? If I am low volume seller, say 5-10 sets a month, is FBA even worth doing, or am I going to get killed by storage fees? Thanks!
  34. Like others have said, it depends quite a bit on the distribution within a case. I also can see quite a few of these having additional demand drivers: 3 Zombies - people love zombies. Plenty of people collect them (e.g. I myself have every Lego zombie minifig) and plenty of people build armies of them for display#10 the Gargoyle - would be great for MoCs of castles or other haunted house type buildings. Having a few as statues would be excellent.#4 the witch - not sure about the figure itself but the black cat accessory may prove a hit.#8 Zombie cheerleader - because it's a zombie cheerleader! But also I think those pom poms will have some great uses (make your own cheer squad, or actually use those pom poms for landscaping small trees and bushes etc)#11 Skeleton - mainly for the Halloween pumpkin#2 & #6 - do the pirate zombie and fly guy have unique hands (hook and claw)? I'm not sure. They could provide demand if they are unique. Overall a great series. And I'll be picking up a box or 2 for sure.
  35. Neat build! Pretty accurate as well, which is nice to see. Thanks for sharing, as usual
  36. I love the placard mounted to the wall like an art museum.
  37. Like Children of the Corn? I don't remember how old I was, but I was probably 8 or 9. Now THAT was a scary movie for a kid!! I haven't decided if my oldest (almost 8 ) is ready for JW...
  38. Breaking up the daily deals every two weeks will just do what the previous setup did and remove all the people that want to get emails on the current deals of the day. Right now, the daily deals is working out really well in my opinion. It is keeping on topic pretty well and I don't think the mods are needing to go back and clean up posts. I am not sure how many people go back days and days. The timing on the posts is off due to the caching setup that the forum has. It holds the data a bit so that it does need to query the content on every page load. It's built into the system.
  39. My son (he's 7) noticed me packing up some Jurassic World sets yesterday. "Don't sell these daddy, we need to build them." I do have all the sets put aside for him, but he doesn't need to know that. I keep telling him he has to sit through the original "Jurassic Park" before we build any JW sets. He had me turn it off during our last attempt.
  40. The first wave of Batman did well in Australia initially and then the market got completely flooded with the new sets but I suspect that is a global thing too. I try to focus on sets with unique figs but the way Lego keeps reissuing can make it difficult. The initial Wolverine set did fantastic so it will be interesting to see how this one goes. Marvel's reluctance to promote X-Men certainly pays off for investors.
  41. Update on my previous post: Friends Polybags haven't arrived yet, so the Kangaroos have a couple of days to harass my yard.
  42. I have to correct myself, she is a banshee, (banshees are classified as female spirits). The other one is the spectre/wraith.
  43. Boy is there a thread for you...
  44. Perhaps it was along the line of: Designer: Hey, I managed to design 95% of DO using already existing / common pieces. We have a lot of leftover in our DO budget so let's use it to design and manufacture new pieces to enhance the look of DO Production mgr: Done
  45. Carpet was just for the quick pic, and I don't own pets. I've posted pics of my storage racks a few months back if you're more interested. My sales experience has been pretty good using this method. I have several data points, including sales of CC, MS, and 8043 in this "reconstituted" condition. In each case, I've gotten about 20-30% higher than used prices. My reconstituted 8043 sold for $400; while my CL lot 8043, no box and instructions, went for $260; my reconstituted MS sold at $1400; I sold 2 other MS w/box and instructions at $950 and $1050 (BTW, many of these sales were also posted here for trade). CC has been even better: I have 3 sales of used CC with box/instructions and they averaged about $1200; my reconstituted CC brought $1800. I can only guess that seeing kits in original bags, carefully packed, appeals to some buyers. Communication is super-easy. The pics speak for themselves. When looking at used sets, good pics and condition are everything. Buy hey, this is all optional. If you don't want to go through the hassle, by all means, don't bother. My intent was simple, to show some of things you can do to preserve value, and it works. Glad to see I'm not alone in keeping original bags, etc.
  46. I ended up with 55 of them. I'll start selling them 3-4 years from now. Until then, I'm on a ramen noodle diet.
