  3. Have you seen the custom sticker sets on ebay. Theres a few but the these two look excellent. When I finally get round to opening and building one, ill get these and keep the originals in the box. Got to add some value to a used set I think

  4. I let my personal feelings about how I thought the Delorean build looked awful get in the way of investing in that set. I guess nostalgia wins over how a sets look in this case. Dang.

  6. I'm going to beat that dead horse again... Every investment needs an exit strategy. The profit is good now and the gains for the next 12 months might be minimal to negative depending on what comes next. Every investment has risk. The profit is good--I'd say go for it.

  7. Hello New BrickPicker members and forum users... Due to spammers, jerks and bots that attack the site and forum constantly, we have implemented a 20 Post Approval System for new members and forums users. Each of your first 20 posts needs to be approved and content checked by Admins/Mods. After the Admins or Mods approve 20 of your posts, you will no longer need to get approval to post. We constantly check for new posts, but we apologize if there is a slight delay for post approval. Thanks...Ed Mack

  8. I have 20 of these. I don't know any ice cream trucks other than the batman Joker one and that one did super good. Everybody loves ice cream trucks right? If I'm right I win, if I'm wrong I break even.

  10. Why? The Walmarts in his area still have sets from 2010

  11. I'm going to have to go to Wal-Mart and hunt some of these down.

  14. It probably will be the PS first, but it's hard to get decent numbers of a modular set 6 months before it's due to retire. I've been hustling to get 4 PS but I want 8. I have more PC at this point. I'm a member of the buy early and hold strategy.

  15. I only have one. I hope to acquire three before it goes eol. Hopefully in time I can raise those numbers but I can't financially afford to buy a ton. Preschool is freaking expensive. I think 10 is a great number. It's also good not to put all of your eggs in one basket......although the modulars seem to be a safe and consistent bet.

  16. Ya know, it does make sense that CT would be carrying Lego... everything else you buy there comes apart after you use it a couple of times...

  17. I just wish LEGO would give some of the larger sets a chance. Enough of these $50 sets. How about a kick butt $400 set?

  18. Ideas is such a disappointment that I've completely tuned it out at this point. I get that many of these submissions are just not feasible but big sets and interesting licensed IPs are cool; birds and labyrinths not so much. The Exo Suit was probably the best Ideas set but I didn't even get that one since I'm not really into classic space or mechs. Most submissions can now basically be sorted into 3 categories: Small vignettes derivative of the Research Institute, niche licensed sets (sorry but Golden Girls and the Goonies are about as irrelevant as you can get), and completely infeasible monstrosities.

  21. Lowballing is a frequently applied tactic on CL. My favourite was when someone sent me a screenshot of the 10695 off Walmart's website at US$30 (no shipping and sales tax included, of course, nor was it available), I think, telling me that I should lower my price if I want to sell it. The 5 copies I have sold on CL for US$35 don't necessarily put much credence to her opinion

  24. You are the one with the capability to go to the future, why don't you tell us ? (although it did not make sense why they had to go to the future to fix something that had not happened yet )

  25. It sure was. I prefer to sell on Craigslist although a lot of people hit me up and then never get back to me. People are super flaky on there. If I start having trouble selling sets I'll probably put them up on eBay. I want to avoid fees and shipping costs as much as I can.

  28. I think you are a tiny bit confused, the market for OT sets isn't the kids I dont think. I don't think it's the parents of those kids either, it's the adults who want the sets for themselves. Not that it matters much because the OT sets are gonna be scooped up regardless. Just won't be for little kids to destroy, misuse and misplace. The kids will be perfectly content with the newest sets.

  29. With such strong demand, i'd really consider holding half your stock until after the movie or raising your prices. I just think demand for these older OT sets are going to be even stronger come December 18th. I'm going to go against the grain on this one a little. Once people are like "holllllyyy cow, that movie was awesome, I MUST BUY THE TOYS for my kids, just like I had as a kid"... then they see all the lego sets that they missed out on, many of which are retired and have the OT stamp, it's more than likely going to only get better. Granted, new falcon vs old falcon, but there's going to be a lot of new AFOLs out there partial to the OT version. Of course the movie could suck, and the hate machine could be cranking on high, at which point, you might be glad you sold them all now. But, with such a good amount of stock, you don't want to blow them all early.

  30. If it goes this year, I think it will be a great investment no matter where you are. I remember someone arguing at this forum saying that TH won't be popular and appreciating worse due to it's unpopularity, even when EOL was suddenly. I'm not that long in Lego investment, but I think there is one rule that applies to big iconic Lego sets that are part of a line (modular, world iconic buildings): No matter how ugly and unpopular, when it is scarce and rare people just want to have it and willing to buy it at good prices. When SOH goes suddenly, you can't have enough of these sets stocked. I will do just fine.

  32. You sell the parts of the set seperately... i.e. the figures and lego builds. The theory is that the sum of the parts are worth more than the sum of the whole.

  33. I'm only clearing about $4.50 per (I just upped my price by a whole dollar so now it's $5.50 per). For me it's an attempt to hit Top-Rated status (the 100 sales in a year has always eluded me) to save 20% on fees when I go to sell some more expensive stuff later this year. Well that and if I can sell all the ones I picked up it'll be about $240 in my pocket at the end of the day.

  38. Are you surprised? The recent Ideas sets have all been speculative bubbles and they are still sitting on 3000 retiring soon Exos. I think they are doing everyone a favour if they redirect this particular line.

  43. my guess is PS and PC will EOL together because ( I think) business owner do not want PR / DO pricing at $160 and PC at pricing at $150 side by side together. right now we have 2 $150 and 2 $160. if retired PS or PC (either 1 but not 2 together), it will make it 1 $150 vs 2 $160. if that is the case, new buyer will buy $150 first and $160 set will sitting on shelf for longer. at the end, what do i know

  44. Didn't they start off with Cafe Corner and Market St together right off the bat in Oct 2007 and then in March of 08 introduce Green Grocer? Then Market St and Cafe corner retired in 09 and Fire Brigade came out in 09. Then early 2010 was GE. Late 2010 Green Grocer retired and quickly in 2011 came PS. Then add in TH before FB retired. Once FB retired PC was not far behind. Then came PR. Then TH and GE went away but DO was added. Seems to me they have always had at least two and typically 3 or more.

  45. "Item in hand. Ready to ship!!!" This annoys me way more than it should. Your item is ready to ship?! You don't say! If it's not a freaking PRE-ORDER, then your item BETTER be ready to ship! And I don't CARE if it is in your hand or not. Dropship gets it to me all the same. /rant Lol. I really don't care that much. It's just silly to see. Especially on Bricklink and especially when it is not listed on every item, leading one to possibly think, "Wait, that one is ready to ship, so is that other one NOT ready to ship?"

  46. I told the Lego rep that I have twin boys and that is why I buy multiples of sets and that I was buying a bunch of sets due to double vip. I asked them to remove the orders for quantity five and that I will not order that many large quantities again. The rep said that I can order five if I want but I told him that I don't want to raise any red flags again so I will only buy one or two of each set every few weeks or months. I was ready to sing the everything is awesome song if that would've helped lift the ban
