  1. Ok, which one of y'all is this? http://www.cnet.com/news/this-guy-has-the-most-insane-lego-collection-in-his-basement/#ftag=YHF65cbda0
  2. Walked into the lego store today...."do you have any palace cinemas in stock?" Employee.."oh no. Sorry, palace cinema is retired." Me..."oh really, cause i called yesterday and someone told me you will be getting some in." long story short. I asked him to check in the back low and behold guess what he walks out with. So yeah lego store employees really know very little about what is "retired" and what is not lol
  3. From me on ebay target tru on release day
  4. A case of Simpsons minifigs and 50 of these
  5. It's not the size of your collection, but what you do with it that counts
  6. You shouldn't be standing in the Ferris Wheel pods anyways, what kind of example is that for the kids?
  7. Just finished the Kwik-E-Mart last weekend. Here it is next to my Simpsons house: Great, fun build. Apart from the stickers. Might get round to writing up a decent build review at some stage as I took heaps of pics along the way.
  8. Nice, but I'd still rather have that Joker Bumper Car.
  9. If only we had the head hitting the wall emoticon... Edit to add: I didn't look hard enough.
  10. Panic started! Just placed a couple orders from Target and Walmart!

Why would they make a very small change to the box art if they were just going to make a final run or two?

Make-up brushes! I have 2 different sized ones and they work wonders. Much cheaper than constantly buying air cans too.
  13. 10x Classic Brick Box I'm gonna bust em open and organize them today..
  14. Id rather have 250k peices and taht setup than 300k bricks in their boxes lol
  15. On the other hand, they did not skimp out on the supports or ramp structure. There's 8 support legs, when they could have gone cheap with just 4. And the loading ramp, etc. are pretty detailed as well. Not to mention the new transluscent decorative pieces. Finally, they went with 12 gondolas, when they could have cheaped out with 8. I think it looks great, especially in the video. I suspect this is one set that will look better in person than pics.
  16. Yup, I did get 6 R2's a few weeks ago, and they were 20% off too! I received them all in good shape so I was happy about that! On a side note: I replied to the e-mail I received from TRU regarding their screw up and their offer of 15% off a future order. They replied saying the 15% is valid on their Ebay store only, and there are NO RESTRICTIONS. So it sounds to me like this does include Lego exclusives, and I specifically asked if any Lego sets were not valid within this offer. I've kept my e-mail for backup in case they changed their mind lol EDIT: here is a copy and paste of their reply back to me: Dear Hans (That's me lol) Thank you for contacting Toys "R" Us Canada on eBay Support. To answer your questions, yes the 15% discount on a future order is applicable to our Toys "R" Us Canada on eBay store only. Also, there are no restrictions as to which items you may purchase. Please reply to this message with the new order number so we may assist you further with your refund. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to respond to this email. Thank you again for contacting us. Sincerely, Holly Guest Service Team Toys "R" Us Canada on eBay Support
  17. If i get what you are saying then it looks like lego skimped and only went with a single main ring on the wheel. in the real picture above there are another set of cross beams that connect each pod that are not on the lego model. certainly some MOC potential there, to build up the model and make the wheel look more traditional. though you could certainly engineer a real wheel that would not need that extra beam structurally.
  18. I don't even think it's the amount that's impressive. It's the setup.
  19. I was able to login as you and liked a post. Just asking, can you log out and back in again and see if it happens. There are no restrictions on that for members.

I use a Swiffer 360 for larger areas and a set of these for detail http://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-limited-edition-brush-set/-/A-16612423#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink
  21. Not in US dollars. That being said, paying nearly 2x MSRP for a used set for investment probably isn't the best use of your money.
  22. Did someone mention that the pods on the ferris wheel look odd? see link to picture - there seem to be a few ferris wheels in the real world moddelled like the lego version. http://www.westcoastamusements.com/ferris-wheel/ anyhow, just thought I'd let you guys know
  23. That's a different league to my 4 :-)
  24. See title. Exclusives (Slave 1, Ewok Village) included!
  25. The Force "Awakens"? For me The Force died on May 16th, 1999. ___ ... Not my quote, but a glorious one.

I use a mew microfiber car wash mitt; works really well to get the dust in between studs which can be difficult and time consuming to get clean.
  27. 1 point
For built CL-lots that are super-dusty, I usually run them under the faucet sprayer, then blow dry them with a hair dryer to keep water spots to a minimum. YMMV.
  28. According to Bricklink, that part was in six sets from the late 1990'/early 2000's: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3298px1&in=S
  29. I would recommend getting all the pieces to complete the set. It would be a really hard sell trying to sell the top half of the fire brigade.
  30. Small set, low price point, stocking up early was a no brainer for me. Waiting till the last minute on sets like this one is like throwing money down the toilet.
  31. Word ive gotten 8 BTTF in the last two weeks at 49 thanks to BP alerts they would make $5 each minimum now if I sold them immediately which I won't but paying above MSRP on them is a no brainer to me.
  32. yeah - i just did the same thing - yes you can order it over the phone from CS at shop at home. also if you search ecto-1 by its set number at shop at home 21108 you get a blank page. CS said its a glitch which should be fixed soon. oh well - lack of personal stock of this set has been nagging low level concern which I took care of today. did the same thing when Delorean went out of stock in august before coming back in full force in the fall and i don't regret that decision at all. now back to PS SH Tumbler R5 EV DS
  33. To add to what you said trekgate, we've got plenty of examples of product that are still sound investments at or above retail. Anyone who bought an SSD, GE, HH, immediately after retirement has already seen an appreciation over their purchase price. Even the Delorean is still a great deal at $45 (which I seem to still get alerts for) right now.
  34. Meant respectfully you will make more friends if you do not post every time someone has a deal what the lifetime low for the item was implying it is not a good deal, nor make authoritative statements like you did. someone already stated this and I think you continue. how do you know LEGO Shop at Home will not have it last? I don't think that statement is accurate or known. unless your just trolling the site for fun.
  35. Good Idea ..... please buy all the WMV !!!!
  36. Just throwing this out there... Fairground Mixer and Ferris Wheel. Okay great. Now, start adding in Jokerland. And Joker's Funhouse. And the Go-Kart polybag. And the Hot Dog Stand. And the Flower Stand poly. The pieces are there for a true Fairground to be hatched.
  37. How about: Everyone is right or everyone is wrong but EVERYONE can enjoy what looks like a beautiful display piece instead of debating whether this will make you 2.5x or 3x your investment. It looks like a winner and we can all profit from it in the future and that's what matters.
  38. The two best investment aspects of this set are its size and that it appears to be the second installment of a new carnival subtheme. I think when people start to see this set built at Lego Stores, they are going to be pleasantly surprised and enticed by the sheer size of it. Many of the complaints I am hearing now are the same that were voiced when the Sea Cow was first announced. Then people started seeing its size in real life and many changed their tunes. I would urge everyone to withhold judgment until it's seen in person.
  39. just like i thought with the fairgrounds mixer, i just wish lego would include soundbricks with these carnival sets.
  40. I'm just not seeing the same value. It's got the same number of pieces as the PR and is $40 more expensive. The minifigs are quite generic, and apart from the new head, could be put together from BL for very little. Those new trans clear hinges aren't going to be in great demand, similar trans clear hinges sell on BL for peanuts, even ones that are relatively rare. It's a non-licensed set too. It's not a bad price, but it's no steal. I just can't see 99% of AFOLS being into this years down the line, unless I'm the 1%. Not every adult is into carnivals. Not this side of the pond anyway. Also, having built 4957 Ferris Wheel a while back, I can tell you this is gonna be one seriously repetitive build. 8 supporting struts, 24 spokes, 2 rims made up of 48 of the same little sections, 12 gondolas... zzzzzz. I'm just playing devil's advocate here and sharing my thoughts on it. If people like it that's great, but it's not for me. Even leaving rarity aside, it doesn't have the wow factor of the GC at all. I think I'd be lucky to double my money on these after 2 years post EOL, which wouldn't be bad, but there's better investments out there for me. Used prices will keep NISB prices modest too I think. I don't think it will be a costly set to bricklink once it retires, as there's lots of multiples of the same pieces in there. I can also see it being heavily hoarded by less savvy investors hoping for GC type returns. I hope I'm wrong, because I love sets that make me money.
  41. My point is that this will hopefully end the talk of retirement for this set. If they were done with the set, they wouldn't take the time and effort to change that small detail on the box for a final run, just to avoid having 3 people complain about the height shown on the box.
  42. So learning the whole "quote" thing. Anyhow, I am not sure it's from inappropriateness or immature behavior. I am very new to the site, however, I am female in my 30's and have been collecting since I was a kid. Had a dark period in my teens until early twenties, then started collecting again, then went back to school, then became broke, and now I am collecting again and have been for the past few years. I think honestly it's just there are not that many women who collect. I do think that Lego is doing a good job to attract younger girls. But, out of all the women I know, I am the only Lego collector in real life that I know. I personally am not afraid of inappropriate or immature behavior. I have been around, and some would say I have lived it. Or that I am living it... either way. I appreciate the idea of remaining mature and civil, however we all do like our laughs.
  43. Here's the same effect with two identical PS boxes--one with 15R5 seal codes and one from R4. Boxes are exactly the same size in real life.
  44. A few weeks back, we posted a survey to help learn more about who the Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) is. Today I will be able to share those results with you in a nice illustrated format. Over the five day period, we received 579 replies and collected information from members at Brickpicker as well as help from other LEGO communities including Brickset, BrickFanatics and The Brick Fan. We would really like to thank them for helping to get the word out and collect data from different regions. It is a rather large graphic below and I tried to compress it has much as possible while keeping it looking nice. Let me know what your thoughts are and if you anything surprises you. I would like to thank TodorKolevDesign for designing the infographic. Please feel free to hire them if you need any illustrative work done. It was a pleasure to work with them.
  45. Hmmmm, what's BB-8 going to look like in LEGO form?
  46. Hypothetically speaking...if a flipper bought an R2 for $300 today, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he doubles that by next winter in the heart of STAR WARS mania. It is such a popular character and with no other set like it, he can reach those levels in my opinion. I do not believe the Slave I will retire next winter, so the opportunity could be there to acquire 3 Slaves from the original $300 in the span of a year.
  47. I wish Brickpicker.com would include these "sold out dates" as I always have to go to Brickset.com just to get this info.
  48. Built the 42039. Couldn't wait until they released it in NA.
