  1. Because of the countless people he has helped on BP (including myself) I thought it would be good to wish Ed a very happy Birthday. via BP app.
  2. Sold/traded 20 Creative Towers to a local Bricklinker for a Haunted House, Asylum and $420. No shipping and no hassle. Plus I met a new friend. A great deal all around. #1000th
  3. Yes thanks alot 66 years old today, I still am not ready to crack. about 4 more years of buying the big money sets and I think I will call it quits, it could take me many years to sell the stuff. Ed
  4. It seemed pretty clear to me. But I'm not an idiot, so I guess that's why I don't get to go around suing everyone for stupid things.
  5. few weeks old but since you asked :)
  6. 38 Joker Bumper Cars. Almost typed steamrollers by accident lol
  7. Brickfan has some new info on the polybag. Bottom line: Lego might be mad at TRU for the way they handled the Bricktober promotion (selling the sets for $20 instead of doing the promotion as it was intended - free with purchase of a set amount). Lego seems to have pulled this polybag from TRU, and is giving it to Target. It has appeared in Target's inventory system with a DPCI attached to it: 204-00-0479 and a UPC as well: 673419233743. It's supposed to be showing up in March or April now. /edit: Lego might be mad (not made) at TRU...
  8. Well pretty funny Jaylay posted 9493 right before what I am posting as I had those questions. I wondered how long the build was and size differential for the 2. I love the way 10240 looks completed but I just don't see the value for it hitting a high dollar amount after retirement. Took right around 4 hours. For a UCS set I just don't think that is challenging enough. Like I said in my Red 5 post the other day I built the Imperial Shuttle right before this so I might be a little skewed but another member said he built Slave 1 and then this and felt the same way as far as the challenge of the build. I still see it hitting $300-350 but after building it I don't see it being a $400+ set. I wouldn't shell out that amount of money for it. I had no problem putting out aftermarket money for the shuttle and it delivered. Now that 9493 is around $100 for about 1/3 the pieces I think the value is right for that set. This set is 3x the pieces and roughly 3x the price so I guess they are on par with the exception of the build time. Well here are the pics.
  9. I sold all of my Destiny's Bounty recently for a little under what I believed was the market price. It is better to make little money than no money (I am looking at you Quinjets ).

It's like Sunday every day for you.......that sucks!
  11. I'm with jaisonline on this one. I just can't get excited about this set. Maybe some interesting minifigs, but there'll always be more batmans, robins and jokers. A weird steamroller and a weird batwing... ok... maybe kind of fun to build and interesting for some... but is it prime "must have" collector material? I think not. Folks are saying they'll make a killing next Christmas, but are you sure that this is what every kid is going to want Xmas 2015? What about all the other new superhero sets... won't they want those? Some say it is a big winner 2-3 years down the road, but what makes you so sure? The Brickpicker price guide says these have been selling at a rate of 10 or 20 per month on ebay ... so that means what... 50 or 100 per month on Amazon? There are 1790 Target stores in the USA. If investors are buying, say, 9 Steamrollers at each one, then they will have stockpiled 16,110 of these by next week. They'd better start selling them soon, because they'll need to move about 380 per month for the next three and-a-half-years. I hope everyone gets the ROI they had hoped for. Maybe I'm nuts. Maybe this will be the best investment of 2015. But I'm just going to sit this one out. If nothing else, it feels nice not being part of the feeding frenzy (for once).
  12. 11 Unexpected Gathering 79003 @ $35 each I had been watching these religiously for the better part of 6 months, they finally got around to marking them down today.
  13. If it's not it will be eventually.
  14. 20% off in Canada just makes me yawn. I miss Target, haha!
  15. This baffles me. I would guess many of the reviews are from folks that haven't built or seen the set in person. DO may be my favorite modular, period. It has it all: story, detail, theme, variety. The exterior is easily the most varied of any modular, with the walkway, varying height sections, *printed* windows!, and fantastic sign. It's a bar! Add the rotating fan, pool table, complete barber shop with mirror, and the messy detectives office itself, and you have a 100% winner. It's not all about size. Besides, this fits in so well next to other modulars like PR and PS.
  16. Most every review on S@H is underwhelming. Definitely not the site for quality reviews. My favorites are from the 12 year olds on sets that haven't even been released yet.
  17. Target said "let it go" but apparently it didnt work When confronted about who sold the tumblers early they replied "I'm batman" which they did not appreciate
  18. damn its like Lego is the brickfather and if you break the rules they shut you down!
  19. Wrong thread, this is the what architecture set and crazy monuments do you want to be done in Lego thread ;)

Precisely one of the reasons why I find Bruce Lowell's work fascinating. While the idea of the model can be considered commonplace, the detail behind it is anything but. Here's another of his that practically blends into the local flora. LEGO Hibiscus by bruceywan LEGO Hibiscus by bruceywan

  29. Haha, yeah. Angkor Wat at Miniland, Legoland Malaysia
  30. well, I gotta admit, I really had fun building 9493. Im not usually a builder but every build I do Im just fascinated at the engineering of these sets ... truly amazing work! 2 hours and 15 minutes for me on this build ... I want more!!!
  31. scored this lot at a local swap meet ... didnt quite know off hand what the ships were but low and behold ... Queen Annes Revenge and The Black Pearl ... hope not too many pieces are missing ... $30 for the lot
  32. Waiting in the line at the drive thru. Chick-fil-a is slow today Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Brickpicker mobile app
  33. Call me crazy but I'd sell the bmw buy the Kia and invest the cash.
  34. if one thinks that the Kia is a better car and the other thinks the BNW is, I don't see an issue with a swap
  35. I'm just annoyed the word "look" was in the title. What is this? 1998? It wasn't "L@@K," at least.
  36. Managed to sell one locally today for $340 CAD and have another interested party...just trying to decide where this one will level off price wise. Maybe around $325-350 USD over the next ten months? Or higher?
  37. Thought Santa's Workshop were three to a case. Pretty sure I saw 2/case for detective office as well.
  38. At 25$ I would pick up all I could get! At xmas you will get at least 50-60$ if you went in deep!
  39. I have the option to buy in at $220 used including box and instructions. Does this seem reasonable?
  40. For larger exclusives, I wait 1 to 1.5 years after they are released before buying an exclusive set for an investment. For the smaller sets, I will start buying them after 1 year.
  41. I propose last place receives a Chima fire bike.
  42. I've never understood the design of ebay's interface, it's horrible from a usability standpoint. Add on the fact that buyers don't know that sending a simple message will open a case and it becomes beyond frustrating. I don't understand why they don't just have two mutually exclusive options: 1) Send a message 2) Open a case I for the life of me don't understand why the link opening a case with sending messages.
  43. In a recent issue of the longtime running MAD Magazine, there are a couple pages with some panels of satirical humor on our equally long lasting favorite building block brand. They are rather silly in a relatable way. I suggest clicking on each image to enlarge seeing how squeezed these forum reply boxes tend to make them at regular viewing. Source: The Brick Fan
  44. I have been big on this set since it was released. It's so unique I don't see how it can't do well long term, especially at a $25 buy in. If I am wrong then I want someone to flatten me with a steam roller, Austin Powers style.
  45. True but limit of 5 per every steamroller.... So, did i missed the boat?
  46. Master builders academy level 3 (20214) for $89 on eBay. This set never moved on Amazon btw but was able to move 3 on eBay relatively quickly.
  47. I only have two and i'm keeping them forever or until they reach
