They go hand in hand. Any person who has built any sort of city scape will always want one of these. The first being out of reach for most will drive demand for the mixer. And everyone knows there is always an Ecto 1 parked at the fairgrounds, so having either one of these sets drives demand for Slimer and company. It;s really just simple math mixeled with fresh cotton candy. How many times have you seen a SSD parked out front at the fair? Exactly....

When you call eBay customer service, complain (constructively) about the automatic defect registering when a buyer chooses "I haven't received my item" to send you a message about shipping delays or just plain impatience. The handful of reps I have discussed it with agree to varying degrees that it doesn't make sense, and always promise to forward it up the chain. And please someone please explain to me the morons that see a car parked on the side of the road and feel the need to swerve over into the oncoming lanes to avoid it. There is enough room for you to stay in your lane and get around the parked car. The roads were designed for such stupid. And what kind of logic is it that would risk a head on collision to avoid a mirror sideswipe? Or turning. You know, if only there was some way for drivers to signal or indicate to each other which way they are about to turn, it would surely make things more simple Or how everyone now thinks they are driving a bus or 18 wheeler and feel the need to swerve all the way into the oncoming lane to make a right turn. Dude, you Honda civic does not require wide turns, what the hell is wrong with you? You just went into the oncoming lane, ON A BLIND HILL, to make a freaking right turn. I'm actually super excited about this set. I just seriously don't understand people's negativity towards it. It's freaking deja vu like the Helicarrier. People did so much bitching and complaining about it, but look at it, it's selling like hot cakes. I've seen people complain about the build and that it looks boring. What would you exactly expect with 2 panels attached to a ball? It's like the TB. It's a simple build with 2 identical towers. But the finished product is absolutely amazing. It's also funny with people talking about the size. If they made it a $100 set with half the pieces, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same people complain that it was too small and for a UCS set, Lego would need to make it bigger. Luckily, it's just a very vocal minority that make it apparent online. This will be a day one purchase for me. I love everything Star Wars, and it'll be nice to have a Tie Fighter sitting next to the X-Wing on display along with all my other UCS sets. /2centcomment

And too repetitive. The idea is intriguing in theory I suppose but the Great Wall of China is simply that; a big wall. That sort of build sounds interesting as watching wallpaper dry. Honestly the Egyptian Pyramids, Mayan Temples, or Incan city of Machu Picchu would make for a more diverse building experience. Besides if I'm going to build a wall, it will be Pink Floyd's.

I've got a large photography setup, full length infinity white background and studio lights/diffusers... have worked for a professional studio in the past. Depends on the timeline, really, as I have a busy few weeks coming up in March. I do have a LOT of the sets you are wanting (not so much star wars, but modulars, architecture, maersk train, cuusoo (minus the sub), all the winter sets, etc.Not a ton are built, but I can do boxes no problem!

well, I gotta admit, I really had fun building 9493. Im not usually a builder but every build I do Im just fascinated at the engineering of these sets ... truly amazing work! 2 hours and 15 minutes for me on this build ... I want more!!!

thats the thing about this set though. It hasn't been widely available especially at a discount. Got a few on the B&****** bogo during BF and some with the Target Cube deal, and whatever the limit was on the EE earth half off deal. think that was 1. other than that other than a few WM sales the set has not seen a discount and has been harder to come by. that is what is strange about the whole situation going on. At 50% off this set is a no brainer mainly because you can buy it such a bulk. Not to many Batman sets come around lately at half off where you can stockpile a decent amount. 9 months from now during the busy holiday season anyone who got at 50-70% in quantity should do nicely whether on its own or in a nice Batman sale combo. Now if only I could get some at 50 off in this area.

Have you ever tried to park an SSD at a fair (or anywhere else)? This isn't exactly a subcompact we're talking about. For all we know, Vader would have loved to attend a nice county fair on, say, Alderaan, but was afraid of getting a ticket for taking up 200,000 parking spaces.

As a non-fan of Chima, I was not aware the end was imminent. It does appear to me the sets are unique and high-quality designs for the most part. I find the show marginally more interesting than Ninjago when watching with my son. I think the two themes suffer from the same issues, namely that no AFOLs are interested, and kids are fickle, always ready to move on to the next thing with little to no loyalty in general (OK that goes for adults these days too, but bear with me...) Is the CHI Temple the most iconic set thus far? From my limited knowledge I would say yes, and agree that Cragger's Command Ship vies for a somewhat distant second. I have no idea if this new fire / ice sub-theme is popular or not. The additional disadvantage for Chima is that, in terms of "investing" it is basically Ninjago 2.0, so not catching anyone by surprise (ala Ice Dragon sets and the like). For these reasons I feel any long-term position on the theme would be super-risky, and agree that smart money dumps almost all of it next holiday season. I have passed on 50% deals constantly, and often wondered if I was making a mistake. I finally got over it by realizing I would rather wonder that and possibly regret it, than have them sitting in the closet, wondering if I made THAT mistake, and possibly regretting THAT decision. That said, I have about 4 Chi Temples and a handful of ~85% discount finds that will make me some money in 8 more months. If you go long and deep on Chima and win, you will definitely get a lot of attention for it. Good luck!

Yes. I would rank SSD 3rd. It is just not going to throw up big multiples IMO. 2x-2.5x RRP while TH and HH will do 4-5x. Just MO.

I strongly recommend standard 5x5 categories. Anything else risks unbalancing the league. I've done 4-5 leagues a year for about 15 years with various rules. The further from 5x5 the more the league devolves or someone figures out a trick and dominates while others quit. All sites and rankings and info out there is for 5x5. Tout wars LABR etc... All 5x5 for a reason. Or close to it. Putting holds in makes closers less valuable and skews pricing on relievers. It's workable but everyone better be prepared to make their own rankings or they will be at a disadvantage. I'd also recommend roto over head-to-head. Id prefer the best team win and not just whoever had one good week at the end of the year. I'll play any way but I'll be the guy taking advantage of any rule changes.

I passed by a Target in Montreal, at Place Versailles. There were very few sets left. The small Star Wars ones were a better deal at TRU during the last sale (20%+10$off40$), and the few bigger sets left were undesirable ones. I think that may have been the last time I step into a Target in Canada...

The boat has come in or been stuck in the Lego warehouse so to speak. I hear they are using Joker Steamrollers to break the ship loose.

Hit my local Kmart to return some video games I "thought" were a good flip and my family was with me. My wife is like the Mixels good luck charm. She found 2 full boxes. A Series 2 and Series 1!!!! I couldn't belive it. Full price $4.99 each but I always have Kmart giftcards and coupons that get anything I buy there 20%+ off. So siked on the Series 1 finds, I found some last month at Wegmans too and now I can sell some complete sets next Christmas. Love these guys and my son is addicted. I finally caved in and gave him some Yellow guys. That seems to be everyones favorite. Happiness beats profits, sometimes
