Take a minute and think about how dumb the average person is. Then, consider, 50% of people are even dumber than that.15 points

It's not about throwing money at anyone. It's just about finding the time. If you do want to throw some money at me, I will give you my address and you can drown me in it. I won't stop you. The iOS certs expired. I had to make all new certs and push files. I have to look at the Android stuff to see if that is working or not. Took almost 12 hours for it to start pushing the notifications again. Should be fine for another year at least.3 points

If I found the right cloth part, the set it goes to is much better than the Emerald Night. From my search, I think that the cloth sail that is pictured is from..... 10196 Grand Carousel3 points

Well I will get destroyed for this one but I am asking in terms of if I am alone. Does anyone else feel the same way... I love the UK. I think they are a great ally. I do not think we treat them very well. I think they deserve a lot more respect. I know the Tower Bridge is iconic. But I just do not see the Tower Bridge doing monumental things in the US. I am not all excited about it. The 2 I had I got rid of for a 10% profit and moved on. Is there anyone else out there that feels that way?3 points

Happy day today...I had a brick link buyer bail me out on all of my 9450 epic dragon failures...errr...battles. He bought every one I had. I only made $6/set after fees and shipping, but man am I glad to see those go. I'll put that capital into more tumblers and slaves. I only have two ninjago and one chima set left (1 temple of light, 1 mechdragon, and 1 croc swamp) and then I am completely out of those themes. I also sold two hot dog carts for $18 each shipped. eBay.3 points

^For anyone not the OP who is reading this, that's the question. The Bank of TLG is NOT a safe place to hold your money. Don't keep it in there any longer than necessary. I use up my VIP points with almost every purchase except in rare circumstances like Double VIP month.2 points

Firstly, can I just say, I absolutely love this site. I am fairly new to Lego investing, and I love actually seeing my Lego collection grow in both size and value. One feature I would love, and I sincerely apologize if this has been discussed and I missed it, is to be able to indicate on each set added whether it is for investment or personal. I understand that the site is focused on the investment side of things, but I like using it to track my personal collection as well. Just a thought2 points

I don't feel any yes any lego set will ever produce returns like the older sets. But I see a very easy 500-600 on tb. I have 18 right now not including the one I built for myself. My average price paid has Been 167.00. That is a win in my book. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Brickpicker mobile app2 points

I don't care for it either. I haven't bought any and don't plan on it. Don't care if it breaks $700 or more.2 points

Sounds to me like a bold statement should be backed up with if the Pet Shop outperforms the Tower Bridge you should have to assemble all 30 Tower Bridges into one lifesize scale tower bridge. Then you can put your deloreans on the bridge and smash them all.2 points

Strange I flipped about 20 or 25 I can't remember R2's at Christmas for 275, 2 Fire Brigades for 330 and 1 SSD for 700 or so. I let those go from my inventory to generate some early profits to help support other things. I am not sure what you mean by very few are going to pay. I just drove 2 hours on New Years Day at 7:30 AM EST to pay $200 for a Slave I that I am never going to open and is for me and is widely available. I expended not only the cash for the Slave I, but Gas for 4 hours of Travel, Food, the entire day with my family with me and stopped by a Museum and spent money there. I would pay $2,000 for a 10179 Millennium Falcon in a heart beat. Would pay under $3,000 and would drive 6 hours one way to pick it up in person and would never open it. I hope to find a mint new boxed one I can find one for me one day that I would buy and keep. I would also never open it. Why? Not to have it appreciate and sell it down the road but to actually enjoy knowing and not caring if anyone else knows that I have one. You are misguided on what people will pay. I sell but i also pay considerably to add to my collection. I agree please join in or move on.2 points

have a backbone dont refund and let the buyer keep the item free when you delivered exactly as described and they re the ones who admittedly made a mistake...I agree a return for refund if it is unopened but all the people who are scared and give full and partial refunds for the slightest issue make buyers even more entitled and demanding in the long run...And you can still easily get a defect and or negative feedback even after refunding and you will be out the money the item and get a penalty...Horrible advice IMO2 points

I don't even know how to answer ^.^ 1. Which Brickpicker Member would you like to get? 2. How seductive can you be? 3. Do you have any treasure, jewels, money or valuable wisdom to give? 4. Learn the (important) difference between "to get" and "to become" But as I can see you already are a member by now... All that's left to say (if you don't actually want to GET a Brickpicker ^.^) is welcome! Oder auf meinem besten Hochdeutsch: Willkommen bei Brickpicker!2 points

Everyone is right. No one will want anything old. The current X Wing, the just retired Tie Fighter which everyone told me not to buy at 70 that goes for 150, the UCS X Wing when there will not be another UCS X Wing for a while or longer, the 9765 last original trilogy Millennium Falcon is all trash and no one should want any of it. Good to know. It is interesting that as an extremely avid Star Wars fan for years I did not know any of this. Guess I should throw it all out in the trash.1 point

Very happy to pick up 2 more Town Halls at Toyworld today The cashier (owner possibly) was generous enough to offer a 10% discount1 point

You won't lose money on a set like this but it's a waste to try to flip it while it's in stock. Flipping is hard work and requires way more vigilance vs. The buy, hold and wait for retirement model.1 point

Personally I find TB just as iconic as the other buildings you mentioned. It's a structure you learn of in all kinds of books, movies and pretty much everywhere. 9 out of 10 people know what it is. It's a bridge that's not like any other bridges. Practically it's two towers connected by bridge parts.1 point

Regardless of country of origin, this is what I see. This is a good set, but not great. Somehow it's missing that tingling feeling some other sets produce. That little extra which makes you 'wow' when you see it, like HH or SSD does. That 'wow' is what produces the extra yield. Also I don't want to mix together this argument with the modulars, because they make up a street, thus making them collectible to a high degree and resulting in a better perception of certain sets which couldn't be valued as high as a standalone. It's true that these large landmarks are also a series, but only released infrequently and well, you just don't join up a Tower Bridge with a Sydney Opera House in one scene. In an economic jargon they are not complements exactly. My prediction is that returns will be quite moderate compared to some other options.1 point

There are many people out there that keep talking about buying it, but don't. They'll be looking for it when it's gone, along with the current young-ins that can't afford it yet.1 point

Sometimes, you have to sell for political reasons. Sold a SSD 10221 for $725. Long story: Managed to get a couple of SSDs last month, below RRP. I had to spend some political captial with the wife to make the transaction happen. Since these were taking me over my target number of SSDs, wife insisted that I try to flip one before the end of the year. I agreed to it, and it sold last night. Once she heard what we cleared, after taxes/fees, she was a little disappointed (which is a good thing). It reminded her why we're holding onto to some of these sets. So, I politically won the battle, cleared over $200 for holding onto an SSD for a month, and everyone's happy (more or less).1 point

Chin up! We'll get through another round! Slow-moving parents of young children despise faster-moving parents of small children who get there first. Fast-moving parents of small children despise adult collectors who buy the last box on the shelf when they SHOULD leave it "for the children!" Collectors despise the collector/casual investor who buys TWO of a set (shocking! Just shocking! Even if they are the LAST TWO!!) and don't leave any for the purist collector. Collector/Casual Investors despise the Mid-Level Investor/Collector who don't leave any for them. Mid-Level Investor/Collectors despise the High-Level Investor/Reseller (often those counting on Lego for a significant amount or all of their income) who don't leave any for them. It's not "sick" for someone to buy more Lego than another person, or for them not to leave Lego on the shelf for the children, the parents, the purist collectors, the casual investors, the lazy, the stupid, or the weak. We're not talking bottled water in a hurricane here, we're talking a luxury toy. I won't call you whiny if you don't call me sick. Or, better yet, keep calling me sick all you want instead of taking steps to make sure you can compete with me on the fair and level playing field called "Open Hours" at the store selling Lego.1 point
