Maybe for QFLL purposes, but this set isn't dead. The Ecto-1 is definitely not dead. That one will be a post EOL winner big time. Just because a set cannot be flipped for profit while still in production and widely available at retail cost doesn't make it "dead... for investment purposes." It's just not a good flip.5 points

I'm not sure what concerns me most about this purchase. 1.) Why someone would buy that bobble head 2.) Why he was removing the bras 3.) Where the stain came from Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Brickpicker mobile app4 points

We have recently seen examples of items being in the catalog, but already gone including the spring catalog with the SSD. Also are you really from Antarctica? If so, is Lego's current Arctic theme a hot seller there? If so, is that dangerous?4 points

Found one lone Series 1 Mixel at Target today and thought that was a good find but then I saw something I couldn't believe - a Horizon Express sitting on the bottom shelf!! Clearly it had to have been an online return, so of course I grabbed it, but when I scanned it, no price came up. I took it to the service counter and had already decided I would be purchasing it no matter what, but secretly hoping for a huge discount. After a few minutes, I was told it was $115.46, which was 30% off of an inflated original Target price of $164.99. After the red card discount, it came to $109.69, 15% below the true MSRP. Not a huge discount, but since this set is nowhere to be found at retail anymore, needless to say, I was quite happy with my find!4 points

On eurobricks today: "Okay, update on the rumored 10179 rerelease. I spoke with the informant over the phone today about whether there was going to be an updated 10179. My bud was at the toy fair in NYC and supposedly they had a private behind closed doors event for dealers that showcased a few products we haven't seen yet. There was a falcon on display that was different than 10179 that had lights and new features. However, according to my informant, this isn't the new UCS. They aren't remaking 10179. Period. Economically, lego felt it wouldn't work well with their intended market (children) and the price point would have made hard core adult collectors cringe. I sat there on the phone disappointed when the conversation took another turn. There was another model on display that lego was pitching as the next BIG UCS. As I've stated previously, my informant owns a toy shop and isn't an3 points

To not be modest, I actually dropped 32lbs from June to mid September this year and I'm still losing weight in bits and pieces. My hockey team had a weight loss challenge that I won and made $160 ( bought the team round after the game). 2 key factors for my weight loss is 1) I drastically reduced my carb intake. I will usually get my carbs from fruit not breads. 2) I eat to not be hungry instead of eating to be full. This is the lightest I've been in over ten years and I have to say it feels great.3 points

In general, I'm in the 'if it hasn't appreciated much in the first year, dump it' camp. However, with the LR train there's a separate issue. Target clearanced these (again) several months ago for $70. I do think that messes with predictions a bit for this set, as there are lots of flippers out there who will take their $15 profit and move on. So I give the train another six months to show me what it can do. As for the others, if I had them, I'd sell them. Edit: True story. I bought lots of 10144 Sandcrawlers back in the day for $100 each. Thought I'd get $200 for 'em after a year. But after 12 months the price was more like $160. Awful appreciation off a $140 MSRP base. But I love jawas and I love sandcrawlers, so I held for another 2 years and sold at $350 - $400. It was worth the wait.2 points

When you have an order and you are ready to ship it. You will change the status of the order from "in process" to "shipped", a window will pop up and you can pick from a handful of shipping vendors and paste in the tracking information. Your buyer will get an email that it has been shipped and include a link to the tracking on the shippers site.2 points

One Wal-Mart 3 x 31021 Furry Creatures - $13 2 x 3817 Flying Dutchman - $17 3 x 76022 X-Men vs. Sentinel - $35 6 x 9493 X-Wing - $30 - I was going to leave a damaged one behind, until I scanned and saw this price. They were unmarked in the Lawn & Garden section. I might go back, lots of $54 Unexpected Gathering, 3 x $49 Family House, 2 x Lake-Town Chase MSRP, 3 x $40 Cragger Command Ship, 1 x each Republic Gunship & Sail Barge, both a little trashy. They had a red tag for $64 Bike Shops, none left. Lots more too... I can't believe how hard it is to find the City Tow Truck for the $13 clearance price, they disappeared quick.2 points

Welcome to BP Ducky. Ciglione has a good point, you can only benefit from getting to know your product intimately. I know there are peeps that don't and still do well but they are far and few between I'm sure. The biggest benefit I see from this is being able to make decisions on your own (hopefully finding that sleeper set nobody else figured out) and not relying on others mis/information in the future. On the whole this a very informative forum and the community is willing to share helpful information as long as an effort is put to researching the forums before asking lazy questions. For your initial investment set I would recommend reading through some of the specific set topics and you'll read members pros and cons of that particular set. I'm sure you will come to a decision that you'll be confident with on your own. Good luck!2 points

Welcome to the forum Duckyluck! No additional advice from me. Except that in my opinion getting close with your product will help you make better business decisions. So maybe you can borrow some legosets from your wife's friend's husband just to build? I would recommend it. Good luck Duck!2 points

nope online, clear $40 per set at that price with our purchase price. We always offer the new larger / popular sets as we have customers that want them. It's not always about high % sales. It keeps people coming back and looking at your items when they know you will offer a lot of desirable sets. We also have a lot of exporting customers that buy stuff like this 5 at a time (tumblers and Volvo as well) Then it turns into a $200 profit per transaction with 1 shipping fee.1 point

My wife is getting annoyed. "Legos everywhere." "Oh another shipment of Legos, big surprise." Phrases like that have been making the rounds.1 point

A set being in a catalogue or not does not mean anything. If lego did a last production run on let's say Benny's Spaceship this month (December 2014). They will publish it in the catalogue. Cause it can still be found in shops and on S&****.1 point

I've only got one myself but i'm thinking of picking up a couple additional sets. Because it's available from limited sources, its probably the least hoarded of the TLM themed sets. It's already trending well on Ebay and it's not EOL yet. Also, the fire MECH from this set pairs well with Emmet's Construct-o-mech.1 point

One of the fears on this set is it rides completely on figure exclusivity. the Aqua man is back out again now in a brand new set, and the batman is available in scary quantities as a knock off from China. It seems to me that exclusive figures have weathered the iniital storm of Chinese knockoffs, but it remains to be seen if that will always be the case. If 50 of us are selling Arctic Batmans loose on ebay, and 1000 Chinese knockoffs are also in the search on ebay, it might hurt things. Yes you can tell the difference in hand, but if ebay allows them to be sold its hard to not get lost in the flood1 point

Cool, thanks. Maybe I'm not seeing it, but is there a "sell similar" item option? Creating a new listing is more time consuming than ebay because I have to retype the tags and info. I've been copying and pasting but that is also a hassle going back and forth between windows. I'm not complaining, if this is how it has to be that's how it goes, but when listing Super Heroes sets, for example, many tags would be the same. I'll send my pic.1 point

I'm all about ordering just before EOL, but I don't want to be caught, either. Look at the Research Institute set. TLG said they would make more of the RI, and oh yes they did, but I was only able to recently order one, and the next day it went to officially sold out. While there is a possibility that this Tumbler set will be available all through 2015, there's also the possibility that its availability will be very limited to most people (not everyone has a Lego store they can drive to), similar to the RI and the Exo-Suit. I rely on Toys R Us (shipping and local store) and LEGO Shop at Home for all of my Lego. If too many people continue to order this set, it will still be hard to get all the way through to its EOL. The real problem is, like with 41999 Technic Crawler, how many of the sales Lego has for this set are to end-user collectors/builders, and how many are strictly flippers/investors? If this set is selling like hotcakes at LEGO Shop at Home and 90% of those sales are to flippers and investors, what happens when EOL comes and now there are hundreds or thousands on the market? I can say from first-hand experience I've watched a collector's market go from what LEGO is currently at, to implosion, within 18 months. I'm not talking about some dinky figurine market, I'm talking about a multi-billion dollar market. 18 months ago most of our customers (90%+) were collectors, but overnight we experienced a surge of flippers. This irritated a lot of collectors, as they were not able to get the item they wanted before its price going up in the aftermarket, and it selling out. Flippers would even buy from other flippers in an attempt to corner the market. It all came to a halt this spring when the manufacturer started increasing the number of each item made, due to the "increased demand", which was actually artificial. Flippers are not end users (consumers), and therefore, do not add to the number of total consumers. An item that normally would have 5,000 made, but now has 10,000 or 15,000 made because 100 flippers who bought 50 each in an attempt to corner the market will never be able to sell those 5,000 pieces as the end users don't exist in those numbers. Not now, not ever. I see a lot of parallels between what I've seen in the market and what's happening with LEGO and what has happened in the market where I work. I wrote a bit of the same sort of commentary a year ago with regards to the 41999 Technic Crawler, and I still see it more and more each day I look. Based on the current sales and the supply of this set on BrickLink, 41999 will never be above $400 and is actually trending downwards at the moment. Look at BrickLink sales over the past 6 months. A total of 57 have sold in 6 months, and currently there are 252 for sale. Even at the steady rate of sale, that's over 2 years of supply that remains. I'm not saying Lego investing is a bad idea, but you do have to pick your battles, especially now. You have to be really smart about it. Sets like the Town Hall going EOL caught people off guard. There will be others. The sets that catch people off guard (the sleepers) will be worth the most when there are few investors/flippers who bought them up. But only if there are end-user customers for them. Locutis1 point

Interesting experience today via CL. A good one actually. Very nice guy, met me at a Mickey D's and I sold him a SC. The interesting part was he mentioned brickpicker during the transaction. I replied with "oh I guess you know what kind of scumbag I am then" heh heh. Had a good laugh, he doesn't resent lego investors though instead seemed genuinely interested.1 point

I started my life/health transformation over 7 years ago when I quit my 2 pack a day smoking habit cold freaking turkey. Fast forward 2 years and 25 extra pounds... Decided to do something - was sick all the time and at my heaviest at 215 lbs on a 6'1" frame, so I cut out soda, sweets, junk/fast food and got on the old P90X wagon. That was just the start... Been through about 6 different informercial workouts from The p90x folks and I'm down to a lean 165# - maintaining under 10% BF in my late 30s. That's a first ever, and I lived in gyms from high school through my mid twenties. My diet is completely plant-based now (over a year) and was a pescaritarian for about 2 years before that. Quitting dairy changed my life - I have never been healthier. Diet is 80% of the game. Strength, flexibility, and range of motion should everyone's goal. How you get there is highly personal. Just don't skip your yoga, people.1 point

I keep my diet very clean. Stopped eating meat ten years ago. Still eat fish but only wild caught salmon. No cheese, milk, or butter. I do eat yogurt. No soda. I run 3-4 times a week 4-8 miles a shot. I have two lakes nearby with beautiful trails to run at. Doc says bloodwork and heartrate are perfect. It takes a lot of willpower. Burgers still smell good to me and running when its 40 degrees and raining is not fun. Not for everyone but it's what works for me.1 point

From my perspective, J.J. Abrams gets the benefit of doubt. He has given us: Lost The recent Star Treks MI: 3 Super 8 (absolutely outstanding film) Cloverfield (another incredible film) ... and has focused his work on being LESS CGI-dependent, and more story development, character-development, and old-school filming techniques that feel much more authentic (ex: puppeteered Yoda (awesome) versus CGI Yoda (sad.). Thank GOD Michael Bay wasn't given this project. Honestly, I can't think of another director more qualified to handle this material. I believe he'll do for SW what Jackson did for LOTR, and what Sam Raime did for Spiderman 1-2. Here's to hoping.1 point

Hi Guys, Here's a MOD I did on 31026. Most talk about this set is it's size and lack of it. But it's actually quite versatile. I noticed that buying multiple copies of this set is one way to go on expanding it but I decided to work with one set and multiple pick-a-brick sessions. It was a fun process. I like this set and so does my kid, he just has a modular version of it now. Hope you guys like it.1 point
