23 Days of Christmas Day 4: Twas the Night before the Living Dead... Santa Claus vs Zombies Close up of the carnage on Brickster Ave.3 points
-
I don't know man....the way society is trying to turn Merry Christmas into "Happy Holidays," maybe Santa will be banned next. Wait, that might make it worth more. Guys, my name's not Timmy or Johnny, but please save me one next year cuz I'm listing my only one now.3 points

Lol I made spectacular mistake by posting 4 on eBay for $135 each before dinner a few days ago. ALL were sold by the time I finished dinner. Pro tip: DO NOT put anything on sale when you are hungry :D3 points

Yeah, but...I'm willing to bet it will be next year's as well. This set's popularity will not go away. It will be back in Feb. Will it be gone by this time next year? I'm willing to bet, yes. DC is plentiful in stock this year, and not nearly as popular. This set will be just as popular next year, and for years after.3 points

Heading to the Dome to watch the game. ROLL TIDE!!! Gonna be a long day. Had already purchased Weezer tickets for the Christmas Show and forgot about the championship being the same day so I'm doing both! LEGO shopping, SEC Championship, and Weezer all in one day. Couldn't ask for a better day LOL2 points

Just picked up one at the Columbus store. They are keeping them in the back and you have to ask for it. Thought about bribing the little kid next to me a shinny quarter to pick up another one but his mom looked like she was going to sound a Amber alert.2 points

I know what you do and how you report counterfeiters on eBay. Just wanted to say thanks. Wish more people would do this. Wish lego and eBay would do more about it. So many frozen plush fakes on eBay.2 points

$70-$75 might be the ceiling on these for a few weeks while everyone who is thinking like you tries to flip them out, but, long term, that's more of the floor than the ceiling. If you want an apt comparison, 6177 isn't the right set to be looking at. The 5512 XXL box that was Walmart's Black Friday treat 3 years ago is a much better comparison: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-5512-XXL-Brick-Box/dp/B006DXP918/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1417825454&sr=8-2&keywords=lego+xxl2 points

I'm not sure what $30 CA relates to the US dollar, but it might be worth picking up a few. MSRP in the US was $25 and it was commonly available for <$25 before retirement. This is one of my favorite newer Star Wars sets and has a great collection of minifigs. Plus, the set itself is quite nice for the price. It's also the only reproduction of the skiff since the very early one back in 1999 or 2000. I remember gettting one for my personal collection for ~$17 last early December when Amazon had their great sales and I wish I would have picked up more. Would've been nice if similar sales happened this year, but no....1 point

Excellent, I ordered 8, wanted to quick flip them and 6 have come in and gone out almost same day at $72 each. Not a lot of $ but percentage profit wise I wish I got a semi trailer of them too.1 point

LOL. Duly noted. I already added it in my acronyms. If anyone is having trouble spending $75 at Target just ask your wife because mine certainly has no problem meeting that criteria1 point
-
I just don't want to hear folks "woe is me" about not being able to find anything useful to spend $75 on at Target. If we add TP, we have to add BH. You always need TP for your BH.1 point

Don't worry the DS is on its last Leg and the ones that don't have any or just a few well we will see them on the Panic Buying wagon, just like the other Exclusives that retired in the last few months, so if you don't have any you bet start getting a few or it will be another set you regreted not getting and this could be the last $400 set that we be retiring . "SO GET THOSE DS" It will be a big money maker. Ed1 point

I think it's simplicity. There is a whole underground LEGO movement away from licensed sets. There are some parents who love LEGO bricks, but don't like the licensed sets with fancy pieces that they consider a waste. There is a need and desire for these basic sets and I really should have bought more.1 point

It's interesting to see the difference in enthusiasm for the different exclusives. R2 retired and that thread went crazy. Ditto for Town Hall. Personally I'd rate AA below TH but above R2. That's my opinion of how the sets look assembled, not a prediction of their investment potential. What I'm curious to see is if there ends up being any correlation between the length in pages of a set's dedicated thread on this site, and its post-EOL performance. As an aside, AA is just a fa1 point

I bought these towers two at a time until stock ran out this week. I haven't really decided to flip or hold, but if they all ship from Wal-Mart I'll have over 50 sets. As a parent I can tell you that the price per brick is a huge draw. A lot of kids don't even really want sets, they just want something to build with. I also stocked up of 10681 from Fred Meyers when they had them for $14 each. Between the two I have 75 basic brick sets and if they ever come back into stock, I'm going for more. I wish could get my hands on hundreds of towers...1 point

I wasn't aware that they didn't own any of the parks but it's hard to say they are doing the opposite when they keep making lego cartoons and movies...reality show in the works...with more on the horizon. There are only so many licensed themes out there that they can eventually make. The licenses that they make bank on from TMNT, Star Wars, Hobbit LOTR etc are not forever and can and do end. To be large and stable, they need multiple line of revenue in case one takes a major hit. We can only guess to the motives of a huge private company, but it is interesting to discuss. These article explain what I was trying to say a little better... http://contentmarketinginstitute.com/2013/06/build-brand-content-empire-learn-from-lego/ http://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/oct/14/lego-reality-tv-show-lego-movie-batman1 point

Just noticed the same thing after reading this post. Most likely oversold and filling orders. Not that I care but thought it was weird after you said something.1 point

Great work, I think your margins and sales are most likely better as you are of a Lego Master Seller Ninja, but I've got 26 shipments to process tonight for Friday through Sunday. At first having 20 or 30 sales in a load to the post office was fun, now I'm starting to feel the burden part of it. Its all good. That's at least what I keep telling myself.1 point

Crazy time of year! So weird when a big reseller like Toywiz.com buys out your whole stock of something in an instant. They're either drop shipping or beefing up their inventory.1 point

You can use up to 55000 pts, and get 55000 pts back. Net result is pay 38. or so out of pocket with no loss of pts.1 point

Interesting view point. I too have stocked up on MC but have taken a different approach. I have acquired more of the smaller sets. My main concern with the larger sets is that when you shop around at the moment (in the UK but from what I read the US is similar) the four smallest sets tend to be OOS with most retailers whilst the largest two are still widely available. In my view the Ender Dragon is the weakest set and would be the last to go OOS. The Mine is a great set but the most expensive. I am fairly confident that the smaller sets will go OOS with Lego S @ **** in the next few days because these are clearly in great demand (although Lego may have stockpiled a large amount). The largest two are, in my view, the most likely to remain in stock therefore in my view your strategy is higher risk but if The Mine does go OOS you will be quids in. There is still significant value in the smaller sets in my opinion. In the UK The Cave is selling on ebay for1 point

I just saw the whole lot of these "summer Friends" show up at Target after they shifted the main building block products aisles again which now includes Nanoblocks and some brands I never heard before. Anyway I spotted the Heartlake Shopping Center at an end cap. H-o-l-y c-r-a-p. That thing is HUGE! All these summer wave Friends sets look fantastic just from the box. I am impressed. I'm more for the city related sets but still whoa. I really wanted to pick up Olivia1 point
