Now: "Eh, this set is a dust collector." "Lego really screwed the pooch on this one!" "Ewoks are so LAME! ROTJ is the worstest!" First Signs of EOL: "Guaranteed massive winner!" "ZOMG SO MANY AWESOME MINIFIGS! SO MANY PROFITS!!" "F5 F5 F5 F5 F5 F5 F5 F5" Book it. Edit: once again, the proofreader has been sacked.8 points

Since the (expected) EOL of the TH, I would really not be surprised that TLG will stop producing SOH. It can take a long while before they will clear out stock, but with the 15% discount they can sell a few. I ordered at least one last weekend and I'm planning to buy more this weekend, of course I will check the seal codes. I really wouldn't be surprised if SOH retires within a 2 year lifespan and becoming one of the rarest large sets out there.. it's at least not hoarded. is the set really that bad? In my opinion it isn't. Ed is right about the 'weight'; this set contains a lot of large pieces. Furthermore I think they did a good job designing the building and don't forget it is a extremely difficult roof and design this building in fact has. I like the set very much, but perhaps this is because I did the road trip of my life in that beautiful country of Australia.. I really like it that almost nobody is buying this even @ a good discount. 225 euro is great in my eyes, that's almost TB retail here in Holland. Do you like Taj Mahal? or the Statue of Liberty? I don't.. but when I see now how good these sets are performing I really don't want to miss out a great landmark set. For me it's a no-brainer, it is still part of the great landmark sets. I really think this will be a big surprise for a lot of people that it will go EOL sooner than you think. Demand in the aftermarket? Everybody loves rare and exclusive sets.. the rarer, the more desirable it will become.2 points

Yes it was. I replied within 15 minutes of the ad being posted and luckily I was the first one. Drove out 20 minutes and grabbed it immediately before the seller could rethink it. When I got there he said after I called there were another 3-4 people right after me. Lucky!2 points

Hi Everyone, I'm Mike, an adult fan of lego from the UK. My wife thinks that I am mad after recently getting back into LEGO. My collection is only small at the moment, consisting of the Ghostbuster Ecto 1 and X wing (9493) I have the Tumbler (76023) sitting in the Lego warehouse waiting to be sent out (hurry up lol) and the Millenium Falcon (7965) waiting for me for Xmas. My 2 lads have taken an interest too and are eagerly awaiting Xmas so they can build what they have asked for Looking forward to getting new ideas for future sets from everyone1 point

Also, HK, you might be surprised at what happens in the next year or two if you stick with this hobby. I couldn't have imagined having all 9 modulars but here I am with them.1 point

Oh my god! Have you noticed that you can only order 5 of them on LEGO Shop at Home and that on ebay there are only about 10+ different sellers that sell this item for about the same amount of money or less than LEGO Shop at Home does??? I already feel the panic taking over again... guess I'll need to buy them all... NOW! before it is too late!!! :-P1 point

Relax. When a set goes on sale at LEGO S@H, it doesn't always mean imminent retirement. But what it tells me is that LEGO must be having a hard time selling them or they are clearing out their inventory.1 point

And we still don't believe the production problem has anything to do with the missing bag #7?1 point

My 6 year old loves minifigs. She has no point of reference for the Simpsons (she's never seen it). I overstocked Series 1 minifigs. I'll just be going with one set of these. And I'll be bummed that we'll have a "break" between regular CMF series for another series of these.1 point

I'll buy one set. I have one set of the first series, one Simpson's House, and I'll probably just have one of these. Then, I'm good.1 point

IMO the only problem of Sydney Opera House is that the Tower Bridge is still available. TB is almost $100 cheaper and has 1300 more pieces. That is what the average consumer thinks.1 point

I wasn't necessarily using the 'few bad apples' argument. There are a handful of police abusing the system one way or another across the country same as a lot of people in politics. Some of these incidences actually make it to the news like recently with civilians having their house and other belongings (usually cash) being seized without any sort of due process under civil forfeiture. Rather asinine when an officer can take your stuff away simply because he/she 'thinks' it may have been used in a crime or was the result of one without actual proof. Sort of like the "Guilty until proven innocent" mentality. Anyway as I said, I respect the good cops who observe the law they are meant to enforce but the bad ones are crooked same as the crooks they are busting (or supposed to be) and do not deserve to wear the badge.1 point

It's hard to use the "few bad apples" argument when over 5,000 innocent people have been killed by cops since 9/11 and on average 3 innocent people are killed per day by police. As for enforsing the law, there a very few instances when police actually enforce law, they mostly just respond to crimes.1 point

Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? Because if leaks to the VC he could wind up MIA and then we'll all get put on KP.1 point

Maybe. Most Lego image leaks seem to originate in Europe. I think Lego is completely insane to be locating any manufacturing in a country that rips off intellectual property with impunity.1 point

I have both the DS and EV on display in my house and when guests come by the first thing they all go look at is the EV - I've gotten many more compliments on it than any other displayed SW set I own. EDIT: random side note: George Lucas' daughter Amanda and I were on the same little league team as kids sometime between 1988-1991 and he used to come watch our baseball games.1 point

This is part of my reason for liking pixel art as well as many of the classic games from the 8 to 16 bit era. I actually like seeing all the little dots that form up the images I am looking at as I play. It can take some mad skills to come up with something like this drawing every single pixel using a limited palette of colors. (This one only used 32.)1 point
