Saw this pic on reddit today. Sure the DO isn't a huge modular or anything, but man the Slave I looks massive.8 points

Looks like it is for real - 76042 (for 349.99 - it should be huge). http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-marvel-super-heroes-ucs-avengers-helicarrier-confirmed/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+LegoEverlasting-LegoReviewsNews+%28The+Brick+Fan+-+LEGO+Reviews+%26+News%292 points

I think people who go and clear out lego stores and leave nothing for poor little Timmy should get a life :)2 points

40056 Thanksgiving Feast has some bottles that are good substitutes. LEGO is not stupid, they just can't do alcohol smuggling: pool bar and cookies? Come on. Even lego says it's alcohol. This set is really fun. If they stop the modular line after this, I am going to kidnap Jamie, throw him in a hole with heaps of LEGO and play the "put the modular in the basket" game.2 points

Well, here is a brilliant alternate model showing just one way this set can be transformed into a modular home on par in size with the larger brethren. >LEGO Alternative 31026 - House Church by alanboar >LEGO Alternative 31026 - House Church by alanboar >LEGO Alternative 31026 - House Church by alanboar2 points

Hmmmm, so we all pool together to fly one person to the billund airport. Anyone have airline connections? I have a friend who works for American. Maybe I can fly there standby and buy 10k. How many suitcases would that fill?2 points

It would be a foolish move in my opinion not to buy those sets. I pay above retail for many special sets all the time and I never regret it. People need to realize that not every LEGO set has to be bought at a discount for it to be a good deal in the long term.2 points

Little Johnny wants all of the retiring sets for Christmas and can't get any because they're out of stock, and now has a sad face in front of the Christmas tree. Timmy wants many of the EOL'ing now sets because his grandma is willing to buy them for him. C'mon people, let's get this right! (in the words of Ron Burgundy). Sad to say, my 7-year old nephew wants the Death Star and R2 still and I don't think he'll be getting them anytime soon from his parents (and rightfully so). He likes Star Wars, Chima, and Ninjago. Perhaps I can sell one to my sister in the future...1 point

Haha, I wasn't implying anything there.. Actually, I always thought US education system was a laggard to the rest of the civilized world. Back in the 70's/80's, we certainly didn't learn much about other countries in grade school. At least not in my schools. So.. Now I am curious if there was any alcohol bootlegging going on over in Europe/GB in early 1900's or if this was just a US thing.. Will look into that later I suppose.1 point

Pretty lame. We applaud hoarding here. It's toos, will likely make one more appearance at LEGO Shop at Home.1 point

I also think the retiring soon could apply to the WM sales. You are going to have have a hard time finding Olivia's house after this week. The other ones might not retire (other than smallville) but their sale going to eat through a lot of everyone's stock, and they going to replace it w new stuff Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app1 point

I strolled into one TRU location tonight but only a couple crazy scientist sets, and maybe 4 werewolf sets plus numerous mummy sets were left. I strolled the rest of the LEGO section to look at the Technic. Not 5 minutes later some guy as clearing out the MF selection of what was left and frantically checking his phone for something. I watched him for a minute while his woman kept asking "Should I get a cart? Should I get a cart?? I'll go get a cart!". He wouldn't answer. I snickered to myself and walked out of the store. I guess the MF line is at its end for me though I'll hold out hope that I'll run into more VC or Ghost Trains out in the wild.1 point

I have a MC The End story that I will try to get some pics of if more show up tomorrow. Ordered 1000...via orders of 5. Casepacks are 6...seems simple crack and remove 1. Nope. They have arrived in 7 different packages types/sizes. Last year they shipped these in nice little boxes that fit them almost as nice as a casepack, this year they apparently went package crazy and have no idea what they are doing. So what should have been 200 packages has ballooned to probably close to 500ish.1 point

Interesting, I was thinking the exact opposite since candy is obviously a kid-friendly substitution for liquor. Not sure if anyone outside of US knows about prohibition era in US, which was same time period as modulars..1 point

Sold a used / incomplete 10219 Maersk Train for $185 shipped. I bought it about three weeks ago as part of a used lot off of my local Craig's. I didn't inventory the pieces and sold it as is. If I had to guess I would estimate it to be 95-98% complete. I just didn't feel like brick linking the missing pieces. I only paid $50 for the lot, and it also included an incomplete Harry potter train along with a few other partial sets that I'll just break down and keep the pieces.1 point

You can't play the game like that, at least not in my opinion. Because when that one set does become the next winner? Yeah, you've only got two of them because you're so diverse. I played that game at first, and I've got a garage full of onesies/twosies that I'm slowly chipping away at. R2-D2 is a good example for me. I have no doubt it will be a winner. I have no doubt that people that are picking it up are a making a wise investment. But, I have zero in my stock. Because I can't buy everything. There are other sets that I've decided to focus on. Don't spread yourself too thin.1 point

I agree but if you "know" deep down in your heart of hearts that the Tumbler you have been investing in hand over fist is going to be in the top 1% percent of sets for ROI all time, would you go buy something else because it's on sale? I wouldn't because you'd be leaving money on the table at that point. There are many other reasons to have variety too. If you have store or if you sell parts on brinklink. You're not going to sell just one set or a single brick element, you need to have a variety. I'm not saying go all in on a single set but this game is taking risks and getting rewarded for it. My first real "high volume" investment was the RI and I'm still reaping the benefits from it.1 point

I really feel like this one is about to crash, too... easily lost as it is amidst the plethora of more desirable, more unique, more exciting exclusives already jumping on the new retirement bandwagon. Is it truly as poor of a seller as it seems? Why? Perhaps because anyone interested in it to begin with already has two or six other X-wings of some sort, all much cheaper and paid for? Stickers, huh? PPP, you say? There was already a UCS X-wing? What is the real draw here, exactly? Assuming some sort of truth in that assumption, my big question is whether the lack of interest will carry over into the EOL years to come, making this a poor to average performer... or if it will translate into a massive supply/demand imbalance due to the corresponding rarity of the set on the secondary market. A potential UCS TIE Fighter in the near future complicates predictions even more. It should raise demand for this set in its waning months (unless that time is now) and/or post EOL, . It would also demand shelf space, which conventional logic would dictate comes from the Ewoks. It might make more sense to try and sell this ship alongside a TIE... stretching its lifespan considerably. Or there might be no such idea at all. I have a hunch the Ewok Village is around a while, though, especially if 10188 finally bites the bullet soon. Episode VII and a new X-wing design? How quickly will Lego have to jump on that situation and what does it mean for this set? Honestly the way things are going now, they could have stopped producing it already and we might not know for a long time. It wouldn't surprise me if there are still a comparable number of R2's in B&M stores out there at this moment. With much more available capital I would prioritize this set pretty highly these days, knowing it could be a very high risk / high return venture.1 point

Great deal, but that sure is alot of packaging. Sell some of them in bulk to large sellers on this site for their stores and to make getting rid of them quicker a better option for yourself.1 point

LOL and THERE IS a little desk fan in the detective office!! I am sold, I just love noir. I will so buy 3 of these and mod the hell out of them. Now I just need cigarettes for the detective, a frowning unshaven head and some alcohol bottles for the bar downstairs. Seriously thinking on making a custom butcher's shop, just for completeness's sake. In my opinion this is the best modular that's been released. Some might be bigger, rarer or represent fancier building techniques but the feeling, atmosphere and vibe packed into this is unmatched for me. A dirty, shabby city block. This is what I needed!1 point

Sell them to me for 7$ each. Thats the best option.1 point

Wow wow wow my friends it's time to stop those speculations based on the back of the box right now. There are always been only 3 modulars at the back of boxes (the current, and the two last sets). It's like that since the 10185 green grocer. Back of boxes: Cafe corner - cafe corner, alone Market street - market street, alone (I list it because... see next line) Green grocer- green grocer, market street, cafe corner Fire brigade- fire brigade, green grocer, cafe corner (bye bye market street ! Thanks for the fish help) Grand emporium- grand emporium, fire brigade, cafe corner Pet shop - pet shop, grand emporium, fire brigade Town hall - town hall, pet shop, grand emporium Palace cinema - palace cinema, town hall, pet shop Parisian restaurant - parisian restaurant, palace cinema, town hall Detective's office - detective's office, parisian restaurant, palace cinema. 3 sets on the back ? Ok. So NOTHING NEW SINCE 20081 point
