You can put your own terms, they just don't matter if the customer files something. Case can be opened up to 90 days and paypal will be moving to 180 day returns. You can combat some by putting in a restock fee into your terms. It sometimes discourages the buyer from it but then you run the risk of a low DSR / Bad feedback etc. Safest way you could kind of "pick your buyer" is saying they were $800 at Xmas just put a higher BIN with best offer. Not something to high as you want to get offers but not low enough it will get hit to quickly. You can then do some research on the person who made the offer. Look at feedback amount (most all negative/neutral feedback comes from buyers with under 50 feedback, close to 50% of what I have tracked over the years) Buying activity (make sure its not the first purchase in a long time by the buyer) Feedback left for others (most troublesome users have a pattern of leaving high amounts of neutrals and negatives when they don't get there way) Length of ebay account being open If the user name has changed the last 30 days3 points

After landing AA at $20 each I would have needed to buy some new pants as well so the price would have gone up a bit.2 points

You have to figure that a huge number of these sold will get ripped open and built on Christmas morning. Some people want it under the tree and they'll pay for that.2 points

I've been rebuilding my 80s space sets for the first time in 25 years and displaying them around the house. Staring at all those blue (and other coloured) astronauts, it's tempting to turn them into easy cash but I'd sooner donate internal organs.2 points

With the retirement date for the Death Star do you mean 2017 or 2117? ;)2 points

Mine arrived in worse condition than this and I'm ok with it. Can't be too choosy at this point, our buying options are limited.2 points

I'd like to think so but from collectors point of view, what would be a priority? I would say every city needs a fire hall over a mall but the GE looks impressive. On top of that I think the TH will do well in the 2ndary for the same reason, everyone needs a town hall in their city. It's also a great spot for the delorean to hang out with the clock tower. :D2 points

A lot of people think city sets aren't worth the time, but there are some gems out there. I had sold all of my space centers previously, but then reloaded when TRU had them on clearance for $40.xx this past summer. It's been trending up. As far as the monster fighters, if you're looking to sell this year now is the time to do it, and I think selling as a lot is the way to go. I just started listing mine about a week ago, and they are drawing lots of attention/watchers. This year I'm just trying to move my small sets. I'll keep all of my HH and the rest of my Vampire Castles for the long haul.2 points

I understand the attachment. I recommend you take all the cash you made, throw it on the bed, and roll around in it a lot. It will help. :)2 points

Plenty of other opportunities out there. While you may grieve for HH, R2D2 is rolling away from under your nose.2 points

No matter what, this set is pure plastic gold. I think I might try a lobster in the spa. 4 days of lego-free bliss. "Oh sir, and how will you pay, VISA, Mastercard?" "Rover, dear sir"1 point

Yeah that does make more sense doesn't it? I think this set has lasted longer than both "real" Death Stars combined. Including construction time.1 point

there are some unique parts, like the cattle catcher that I dont have, but its all good, if i did it correctly, aside from parts that were not available at the store, it would cost me 35$ without the minis and some of the special pieces, i am gonna look at the instructions and see what parts of it all i dont need (maybe the car, i dont know) and see what i can do, thanks for all the help everyone!1 point

Who was the seller, Amazon or third party? Did the description say anything about wear, dings, etc. on the box (if you bought it from AWD, then the description should have told you these things). If there was nothing in the description indicating that the box was damaged, then for a $150 set you should definitely call and complain.1 point

Whenever someone asks that, the answer is always no, but people always ask anyway.1 point

I can see paying $300 for this set in this particular situation. We are in somewhat uncharted territory here with LEGO's warning of no substantial inventory till next year. You might be able buy one or more on eBay and use quadruple eBay bucks and save on taxes to make it less painful.1 point

You are correct - there are at least 4 places where panels fall off at the slightest touch (using the round boat studs doesn't help). I had to help when my girlfriend was moving it and couldn't get a grip to put the paneling back on. It's a cool piece but you can't touch it - even the B-wing was sturdier than this set. It still looks incredible though.1 point

Velocity rate beyond "the norm" in algorithms does trigger at least a review. Beyond that, what exactly they look and and what they do with that info is a bigger mystery. No doubt that some good sellers get swept up in the big net, and eBay doesn't care, nor do they need to care - plenty more seller fish in the sea. Re: where to sell - this site in time once Brick Classifieds launches, Bricklink, Brick Owl, and by all means give Amazon a try but realize that they, too, have their algorithms that can trip you up, so make sure you understand the rules in every direction. Between your velocity and a pretty low feedback rating - 99.2% isn't good with 4000+ feedback - you probably had a lot of star dings and possibly a number of cases opened, etc. eBay (and Amazon) are not forgiving environments. You need to protect your selling account very carefully, and that means under-promising and over-delivering to customers, it means accepting the occasional scammer as a cost of doing business instead of trying to die on every hill, it means not being late in shipping pretty much no matter what (have emergency plans in place), etc. Good luck in the future - eBay's not the only place to sell, take the lessons from there and go succeed somewhere else - it's the best revenge.1 point

You're wrong, unless you mean you'll make a UPS claim for the money to refund the buyer for the damaged item. As the seller, you are responsible for the item arriving to the buyer in the condition it was described. If your shipping company damages the item, that's on you, and both eBay and PayPal will back the buyer on that. Re: partial refunds vs. returns - I agree that partial refunds are often the cheaper way to go, but keep in mind that sellers caving to these over and over has created a small percentage of buyers on eBay who claim there's something wrong with everything they get, to get a little money back. Requiring a return for a full refund spikes their guns nicely - they don't want to send stuff back, they want to keep it and get some money back too - so if the buyer is one of these numpties they won't take the offer of a full refund upon return, they'll just go away.1 point
