I'm really surprised that this set didn't last through October 31st. Seeing that it is a Halloween set, I would have thought that lego would have kept it until then.

The Lego Starwars 10143 Death Star II is an iconic Lego set that most of us know. I have been on the lookout for this for quite awhile and whenever i saw one i couldn't get it for a right price or i got sold under my nose again. Yesterday i lost another auction on this set so i decided to start Bricklinking it. I wan't to see how much its gonna cost me to collect all the part. At first i'm going to try to keep it to Dutch stores only and i'm already 2.000+ bricks in. The reason i decided to start this topic is that perhaps you guys like to follow the process, i will keep updating this topic till this set is standing at my desk! (I'm going to try at least ) Tell me if you guys like the idea, if it is worth updating on haha. Currently working on sorting the parts using Brickstore. Collecting Bricklink Carts in seperate files.

Ya I phoned Lego, I changed my address to include a Box # (I recently got a new one) and the girl on the phone said that their system doesn`t liek it because they don`t ship to PO Boxes in Canada. She said the status should change within 24-48 hours (we removed the PO Box from the address). So, no ban for me, not yet at least haha.

Obviously there is more money to be made on holding these sets long-term, but not everyone can afford to have their money tied up that long. Everyone has a different budget for this. The point I was trying to make is that if anolian had access to multiples of this set and couldn't afford to hold them all long-term, he might as well buy the rest and flip them now for $60-80 profit each (according to his calculations). Ed's advice is spot on though for making the most bank. He's been doing this a long time and the man knows his stuff.

Triple VIP points and the Holiday promo set #2 were an awesome combo from LEGO. The Walmart Black Friday 30% specials were pretty good since some sets were already discounted. I scored a decent supply of Uruk-Hai Army and Power Armor Lex for nearly 50% off.

I recently returned all of these I bought. I have a feeling I will not regret that. Bought another R2 with the money.

The MF line is as much an alternative to HH as random fire themed sets to the Fire Brigade modular.

If they relaunch things every few years like a monkey house have different monkeys and drive the value of the old sets The kids love the animals and try to make their own zoo stuff we just don't have enough

STAR WARS and City sets have remakes all the time. That is because LEGO wants to reintroduce these popular sets to a new group of kids on an annual basis. LEGO has worked this way for the past 15 years...at least. If they remake the 10179, so what? It's time, isn't it? The new movies are coming out and the Falcon is in it. It would be foolish not to reproduce the best LEGO set ever made. This has zero bearing on any of the hundreds of other top sets that will never be reproduced.

big buyers don't rely on orders to get the promotions. i am sure there are other avenues for these big resellers to achieve those high value promotion items. i think there is someone in amazon with 25-30 spaceman for sale. do you literally think that the person made 30 different purchases to get those. i highly doubt it.

Greek Mythology. They've teased us with the occasional inserts in the minifigures bags but let's have an Olympus with the Pantheon, a labyrinth with Theseus and the Minotaur, Hercules against various monsters, and a massive siege of Troy battle scene. Throw in some temples and we're all good. Some Watchmen figs and the owlship would be nice too.

what is interesting about kmart and delorean... is that they forgot to put "hot buy" tag, so if , besides existing points, you have some interesting coupons (like facebook 20 in points on 20 purchase) to use, they will work

I'm not saying the polybag itself is poor selling, I'm saying that you can't derive anything from sales by what polybags are given away. The conspiracy theorists think that a batch of mini T1's showed up to boost sales of the Camper, and I'm calling their bluff by saying that if this was the case, you would see Galaxy Squad and Chima polybags in your checkout all the time since they blow compared to other lines that don't need help selling like Star Wars and SuperHeroes.

Why? Because a few sets are remade 5-10 years after the original? We have been dealing with STAR WARS remakes since the inception of the theme and that hasn't stopped the top sets from appreciating. If you choose the right sets, you will make money.

I don't get it either. Ours is not to question why, Ours is but to locate and buy (on clearance and sell at 3 times retail.)

I would love to see a 'DUNE' run. Ornithopters, Sandworms, Spice Harvesters, Seitch playsets, awesome minifigs with the completely blue eyes, Baron Harkkonen and his flying suit, Oh man. Such a great series. IMO it would translate well into LEGO, just not sure if it is popular enough with the younger generations to support it.

Retiring soon is just that, "sale" is trying to clear. IMO the first wave will do very very well concerning the batman sets, all the classic vehicles, batmobile, batwing, then only the 2nd batcave, funhouse is probably a one off and catwoman unlikely to get another set till after the movies so 2017 at the earliest. I recently rearranged and put all batmans vehicles in one cabinet, mobile, batwing, bat boat, helicopter, flash version batmobile and the plane from joker steam roller sets and lastly the bat which is mounted on sme 2 x 2 clear round bricks to make it look airborne. It looks the best cabinet by far, I see the vehicles doing very well i have no worries with superheroes investment wise dc or marvel, 6862 is one of the best of the rest display sets IMO.

For me Helm's Deep owns Pirate ship easily in terms of display value.... its also unique type of Castle in LEGO form up to date.....
