Most Star Wars ships aren't going to win beauty contests, but that's what's great about them. They are utilitarian, dirty, bulky. I think that's why I like most OT ships better than PT ships, the PT ships are way too clean and sleek looking. Look at the MF, Lucas said that he came up with the design at lunch where his olive was stuck in the side of a hamburger bun with a toothpick. And that turned out to the be most iconic ship in Star Wars Now that I've seen this I might sell off my used 8097 while the gettings good and put that money into the UCS version.5 points

Sounds like my first car. It's a tank made from scrap driven by midgets vertically challenged individuals who like scrap that use it to search for even more scrap.3 points

Section C., paragraph 2 of the Lego Retirement Code states: "No more than 1 (one) modular set may be retired in any calendar year." So the Pet Shop will definitely survive into 2015.3 points

I'm confident it will be quite a large set and I'm confident in the 7965 retiring.2 points

Yeah, something sounds real fishy. I have never heard anyone getting banned because of stock photos. Maybe you should have been trying to sell counterfeit legos. That seems to be acceptable.2 points

My wife knew I was stashing Lego, but I don't think she realized the full extent until the last couple of weeks when we had to move my entire stash out of the basement due to flooding. My Lego is stored in my workshop too, and she just never goes in there to see. Moving 200+ Lego sets is an eye opening experience lol. I promised her I'd sell some during the xmas season this year.2 points

Just put all of those sets in a box and tape / seal it tight. Write on the box: Open in August, 2019 Note: this method may be very cruel for your children, as LEGO should be primarily used for building. :)2 points

At first, when I read the topic title, I thought it was about hiding lego for the wife or IRS.2 points

Hi all, I'm an AFOL who came out of my dark ages about 5 years ago. Started flipping in 2011, not so much for profit but to support the hobby. Love playing and building wiht my daughters and just got my wife interested in building the Fairgrounds Mixer. At the high my inventory was about $20k MSRP in opened sets, but had to free up a bunch of shelf space so now I'm down to mostly things I hope to build in the future. The biggest lessons I've learned so far are: These things taka a lot of space to store. These things can be expensive to ship. Dont discount the value of your own time. Don't sell too soon!1 point

I guess you are missing the X factor...STAR WARS fanatics. Older STAR WARS sets have been increasing in value once again after a few slow years. I can't explain why some people insist on dressing up as STAR WARS characters and running around the house yelling, "May the Force be with you!" but they do. It's this fanaticism that will give new life to the stagnant STAR WARS theme. Because the new movie will have many of the older original characters in it, there will be a carryover effect from the original trilogy and many of the old and original STAR WARS LEGO sets might be sought after once again. Never underestimate the power of the Force... As for JJ Abrams new ships, I guess we will have to wait and see how much different they will be...if at all. I am not saying that every STAR WARS LEGO set is/will be a fantastic investment, but it is nice to see the renewed interest in the theme and the prices slowing ticking upwards once again.1 point

Talking about inequality, here's my idea for set 21111: Backflipping Athletes, with 3 male flippers. One of them represents impatient Brickpickers here, wearing Exo suit (or holding a 21109 box, to keep cost down)1 point

I think we'll see that this holiday season. Personal opinion, of course.1 point

I know, something seriously wrong with the Brickshop post I made, but it's the same there. 20% off star wars, only you can get an extra 101 point

The latter statement is false. While it is true that A-Tembo is 10-15% cheaper through the year, they have now increased the price they give the 20% on. For example the Super Star Destroyer: Normal price at A-Tembo was1 point

Now see I did not know that. Here's something else to consider. This White Spaceman promo is the second reissue of the astronaut and the better of the two in my opinion just for getting the logo's placement correct. Check this out. Here is the first reissue compared beside this current promo version.1 point

@GhostDad I just don't see Town hall going to 2016. I'm betting two new modulars in 2015. One at the beginning one at the end1 point

If you happen to know anyone with a case of "Lego makes so many specialty parts nowadays" or the classic "back in the day all Lego made were plain bricks" then perhaps you should point them into the direction of this article titled "When Lego was never just bricks". I found it to be an interestingly good read.1 point

Yes you will get another in store. Just did today. They usually just see your points total.1 point

Finding a set means 100% profit right... right?! Occasionally I've made an error in my inventory spreadsheet and discover an extra set or two, but nothing major.1 point

Not all UCS seems to be created equal; sometimes Star Wars is in the eye of the beholder. But Boba flew away with Carbonite Han in this ship; my 11-yr old self gives me no options where best-of-breed Slave One is concerned.1 point

I think majority of the spacecrafts in Star Wars wouldn't win any beauty contests by most people's standard.1 point

One of the problems with the Sopwith is that the box doesn't do it justice, I find it totally unappealing, whereas the set itself is pure awesomeness!1 point

LOL. I "hide" my stash of bulk Lego in tote bins in the basement marked as "Plumbing Supplies" and nobody is the wiser!1 point

Jeff and his programming minions are making nice progress on the Classifieds. I feel really bad always saying this because I've been saying it for a long time, but the newest version looks and works great. There are just do many small details that always need to be addressed when dealing with money. It has to be done right or people will lose faith immediately. I will just leave you with one main idea of the Classifieds...We are seller friendly.1 point

Absolutely beautiful. At only $200, purchasing one per month from release to eol shouldn't sting too bad. I'm going all in on this one.1 point

Life is short...none of the sets you mention are ever going to be worth 500 bucks. Open what you want, keep the manuals and boxes nice.1 point

Don't show your sets to your children if it's only for investing. And don't bother with the Ecto-1 you got: build the one you have NOW with your son, you will still be able to have tons of it whenever you want at toys'r us, and in the worst case, resell it as used.1 point
