  1. That's a whole lotta girlie sets. Heartlake Lighthouse sounds interesting. I'd hate for the bulb to burn out and a whole Dolphin Cruiser full of party goers crashes into Heartlake Reef.
  2. Got my first shipment.
  3. My stock 2 weeks ago from TRU. Just had time open them up last night.
  4. Remember when I told you not to place that Amazon order? I told you that you would thank me later.
  5. That is why, when you buy a copy for yourself to build you should open it right away. Do not wait too long. Cause then the value is increased and you will have problems opening it. No matter what, it is difficult. I bought the 10231 Shuttle Adventure MISB and the 4184 Black Pearl MISB to build it. But cause of the move to the new house I cannot open them now. I have to wait. Prices already went up since a month or two ago. So I need to hurry up!
  6. I guess I forgot to post these. I went with the smaller flame to save room on my desk.
  7. Holy Hot Dogs! Fill your freezers!!! On August 28th, head on over to Sonic for $0.50 Corn Dogs all day!! No coupon needed. This will be at all locations. Don
  8. I love under the radar killings like these.
  9. Hero Factory, Surge, Pyrox, Frost Beast for $41 shipped. I bought them for much less than that.
  10. If anyone wants to see what the official instructions look like then this Flickr gallery will help. Probably easier too since I can embed it into the post and you can go through it same as a slideshow. You can even see the parts list as well. It isn't a whole lot different than what I did a few posts back but this might be easier to follow for those of us more accustomed with Lego's setup. http://www.flickr.com/photos/neoape/sets/72157646320899458/
  11. I particularly enjoy the messages that instruct me what to do. For example I received the following eBay PM the other day: "pls offer $60 for this item, thanks!" Well, since you used an exclamation point, maybe I will...you seem friendly enough!
  12. Well... if it was a good buy at $55.98, it's a better buy at $48.98, no? http://shop.lego.com/en-US/The-Croc-Swamp-Hideout-70014?fromListing=listing Tempting... but this would be my first Chima purchase... just don't think I want to start into another theme. Also, if they have stacks of them at ToysRUS for $70, you can take a 20% coupon, and a 10% Thursday and get almost down to this price. For me, this may just be one of those that "got away".
  13. Not a high roller at all. It was a Risk Vs. Reward decision. Low risk with free target GC, yes I could have bought more Charmine, Bounty, and Tide, but with the chance of this set being another Rover, "Limited" in the catalogue, limit of 2 at LEGO Shop at Home, the designer saying it was one run and done and other factors I figured I would go for it. We shall see how it works out in a few months,
  14. And when it's that time of the month, she'll let it flow.
  15. Did you see full rumored set list here? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=127408271#post127408271 Pirates Large Ship! Yay
  16. I agree, but I would probably do it the other way around. I would first make sure I get a well preserved, but cheap used set and then sell the MISB set for more after fees than I paid for the used one.
  17. Great post, redeemed. I would sell those MISB sets, and head to BL or CL to pick up a used copy of the same set. To me, there's no magic in cutting the seals on a set. Pocket the difference and still have a great set for buiding. Then when it's sat for a year in the basement, you can sell the used set for more than what you bought it for!
  18. Don't wait for discounts on this set(maybe double VIP in Oct). The last LOTR/Hobbit movie is December. You can pretty much well kiss this theme goodbye after the first of the new year.
  19. LOL, maybe we need to change this thread to '6862 - Superman Vs Power Armour Lex EOL speculation'
  20. Started building Fort Legoredo last night
  21. My seven year old is putting this set together by himself for me, so far all I've done is place the rubber bands on the legs. The same lot also has a 6210 Sail Barge, I'll have him do that next. After that onto the 6212 X-Wing. I think I'll surprise him and let him keep that one as payment for helping me out. This is the easiest lot I've done, since he's doing all the work. 7675 AT-TE
  22. I popped into Wal-Mart where I've been watching some older sets for discounts. They have an entire 2-sided isle of legos marked down and an additional 50% off the marked price. I spent $2000, but scored 10 Lego 9398 for $45 each; 3 Millenium Falcons for $32 each; SW Jek 14 $15 each; and 5 Goblin Attack Sets for $22 each. I also grabbed a bunch of smaller sets for kid's Christmas gifts. I broke the bank, but I'm set for Christmas selling. The only set I left behind was TMNT Shell Raiser. I figure if they have to discount them when the new movie just came out than TMNT must be a loser. Now I have to bust the blow dryer to pull off the clearance stickers without damaging the sets.
  23. http://community.brickpicker.com/uploads/monthly_08_2014/post-41490-14088218415962.jpghttp://community.brickpicker.com/uploads/monthly_08_2014/post-41490-14088218601515.jpg Thank you again! After a long week of waiting for the final pieces to arrive, I finally have mine done!
  24. Check out this graphic that shows the top selling merchandise per state. I have a hard time believing Colorado's isn't a joke. I wa also shocked when I saw Wisconsin's - no way in hell... EBay article
  25. I sold my very first set today. RI for $52us +shipping. (And a fiasco of printing two seperate shipping labels). Because this was my first sale on eBay, or anywhere, I added a bonus polybag (but they don't know that) for taking a chance on a first time eBay seller. I'm on my way to millions!!!
  26. we all will love that set regardless of gender. i just won't be posting a build & review thread of it. ha
  27. I think the answer on restocks was already in this thread, for the careful reader. I should have two arrive from Wal-Mart today, will have to check out the codes. My son and I just built it this morning. Awesome stuff, although I am prepared for tears the first time he drops it on a hard surface.
  28. Spooky Girl would be a nice accessory for Haunted House...
  29. Just like indoor plumbing.
  30. Sets that I really, truly, intend to open and build I put in a completely different place than the sets I use for investment. It helps to keep them separate. I don't consider them as sets I've bought from myself. But, I do put them into my Brickfolio (as a used set), and I do list them on my own tracking spreadsheet. My investment goal, right now (because I have kids that play with Lego) is to make sure that I first cover my "play" costs with my investments. So, my first goal is break-even. (There are other goals, but for the purposes of this conversation, that's all that matters). But, sometimes I look at it individually. For example, last week, I flipped a few Star Wars Advent Calendars. I made enough from those to pay for the one calendar I wanted to make sure I had for myself. I do consider some of the sets I buy, and open up, as potential future investments, though. I like the architecture sets, and enjoy displaying them on my desk at work. Usually, I will buy one set, build and display it, and then, after a couple of months, it gets torn down and put into the investment area. Yes, it's used. But, I look at the used vs new selling price, and make piece with the idea that any money I may lose having opened the set is usually such a small amount that I "paid" for entertainment. (e.***., if I lose $5 on a architecture set, I certainly got $5 worth of enjoyment out of it).
  31. I just started up a set review topic for Creator which so far has every 2014 set including polybags, basic, and Expert. I'll eventually work my way backwards to earlier years in due time but not today. I'm trying to get the main thread for each theme started then add the older stuff afterwards.
  32. it still works on Pirate Ship!
  33. Great idea! This is much easier to find a review for a particular set instead of going to their website and trying to search for it. I will be using this feature in the future.
  34. Sold a zombies 9465 for 175 euros.......should of held out for more. Down to the last 1 now.........sniff
  35. A great show, it earned its` spot as the #1 Best Written TV Show of all time by the WGA. Will continue to stand the test of time I`m sure, pure television perfection. I confess though, I`ve seen about 80% of the episodes, not all of them. One day (or rather, a few) I`ll sit down and do a marathon.

Thank you to the daily deal posters!
  37. I trust the LEGO Shop at Home people more than the retail people if I had to pick in this case

Geonosis, not Genosis. Please, the little bug people are sensitive about stuff like that.
  39. There are 18 more production runs.....in the basement......of the Alamo!
  40. Considering Brickpicker doesn't sell anything, my vote is for Brickowl on this one
  41. As a Chicagoan, I prefer "Sears" over "Willis" any day. I'd gladly pay $20 for the name. Call it idiocy, call it stupidity, but I call it loyalty.
  42. Hi Sorry not got a link to the article Here's what I did:- You need- a frame - mine are the RIBBA frames from Ikea - make sure you buy the inset ones so the figures will fit - they come in various sizes depending on how many figures you want to include Mounting card to fix the stands Thin card for a template The most important part is measuring how much space you need. You need at least 2.5 cm width for each figure and 6cm height for each figure including the stand - you might need more height if you have taller figures like Hagrid for example I have got 6 rows of 11 minifigures so they space out quite nicely. You need to build a template out of card to get the stands lined up. Use the card backing that comes with the frame to cut a piece the same size out of thin card for your template. Also cut a pice out of strong backing card - I got mine from a hobby shop. Use a ruler and lots of patience to measure where you want the stands I drew lines to help. Here is a photo of my used template. The stands are 2x2 with a 45 degree slope, so you need to cut holes in the template slightly bigger than the piece which is 11cm x 6 cm approx - make the whole a bit bigger so it is easier to remove the template. Once the template is complete - attach it to your strong backing card with blu tack. Once you are happy everything is lined up superglue the stands to the cards through the holes in the template. It is best to lightly sandpaper the back of the stand to help it stick better. Then carefully remove the template - some of it may be stuck so use a sharp knife to tidy up. Then add figures and put it back in the frame and enjoy. Hope that helps people. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker
