  1. I'd like a banned badge as a preemptive move. When they're reading my posts and what not, they'll see the badge and figure, "we've already got this guy, move long."
  2. Best thing about the HH is that it can easily fit with other modulars. And as everybody know, modulars perform extremely well when EOL. Guys who will be disappointed are guys who don't have any in their brickfolio (IMHO).
  3. This set is too damn cool NOT to do well post eol. I've already got 13, shooting for at least 20. Patience is the key. I won't be selling any until at least three years after eol. Personally, I think those who talk bad about this set and spread opinions as fact secretly love it too. They are just trying to thin the investor herd. Anyone who has a clue should be in deep on this set.
  4. Hello... We decided to create a "Banned" icon for the forums. It is in reference to being "banned" from LEGO Shop at Home for excessive buying of sets. After the discussion in the LEGO Account Blocked thread(marcandre's idea), I thought it was a good idea to see how many people were banned from shopping on LEGO Shop at Home. By making more people aware of the practice, more members might be able to avoid this unfortunate situation. I want this thread to be used for the discussion of banned situations/members and also to request a BANNED ICON for your forum "awards." In no way is this a mark of dishonor, because it can happen to anybody...at anytime. I am curious to see how widespread this practice is. I think if we as a community can work together on this topic and figure out what triggers a ban from LEGO, we can rest a little easier and might even make LEGO happy at the same time... NOTE: If you want a BANNED icon, just let Jeff, a Mod or myself know in this thread or PM. Thanks. Ed
  5. Here is the article from LEGO.com... Smaller LEGO
  6. I got some crazy Kmart action today. I was there last night and noticed a new endcap display of Simpsons minifigs. I scanned one on a whim and it came up as series 11 at $2.99. I also had the good luck to have 5 or 6 SYWR coupons active and about $140 in rewards points banked. After running through all of the coupons and depleting my point balance, I walked out today with 115 Simpsons figs for an out of pocket cost of $134.
  7. On the other side, if it's not true, there will be a urge for the 2012 Dinos sets and yours will gain even more value. (now you can click on "Like This" ^^ )
  8. Dug this one up on the google: Or, if you want to go a bit more metal: Probably wouldn't translate very well to user award size though
  9. Got what is likely my best deal yet. Was in Walmart with my family. Always check the friends hoping for a discount (I have never seen one in store in Canada) Noticed right away that a Heartlake Stables set was right in front where the Sunshine Ranch tag was for 89.99 Grabbed the Stables and found a scanner --> scanned at 25. woohoo. To bad there was only one but still very pleased
  10. I am curious though, if Lego does do a Jurassic Park series, will The Brickqueen do a review? Sent from my iPhone using Brickpickeraaaaaaaswssssswssa
  11. Some very definitive statements by you about this set. Do you have some sort of inside info the rest of us aren't privy to regarding production levels & retirement? These are your opinions, NOT FACTS, so maybe don't state them as such. There are some pretty big time people on here who believe otherwise about this set. It has been available for under 2 years (Sept. 2012) - if 2 years from now it's still lingering (& it is possible) maybe these statements would be accurate. Bottom line, it's an exclusive, it's the first & maybe only haunted house Lego will ever produce & it's an awesome looking set & a great build, so let others formulate their own opinion. I for one, am investing FWIW.
  12. Craigslist deal...sold the following... Swamp creature Mummy Vampire hearse Crazy scientist Werewolf Ghost train Vampire castle All new and sealed. Sold the lot for $270. Made $100 profit.
  13. I think this icon is pretty cool. I would like to have one too. Makes you look like a martyr. So all the other members will look up to you. haha Ed, do we get the 72 virgins as well with this icon?
  14. A goal in the World Cup!
  15. There is no way all of these big sets are gone this year. Whats funny is that a lot of people were afraid of a bubble - but we are all creating one by jumping on all of these sets the moment they are in stock. Right now we are grabbing them up so quick, they stay OOS creating the possibility that they are out - but then we take that as a sign they might be gone.
  16. color is ok to start but once you have 3000 black parts in a bin.... try finding 7x 1x2 inverted slopes
  17. I have 3 Lego stores near me and have called Lego hundreds of times and have literally never once had a bad experience. The only thing that this exo suit thing has taught me is how greedy people are. Butt hurt in 3......2.....1.......
  18. I was thinking more like this...
  19. The HH is a home run...period.
  20. Alright everybody, this is the final version based on the actual parts list for the official exclusive set. It really doesn
  21. Well, you know what GhostDad would think of it... knowingly giving the casier a coupon that might or might not work is the same as stealing - you know for sure that it might have not worked. You are of course ruining b&******. Pushing off the the cliff I say
  22. I believe it s alittle deeper. I would have to get it out to compare, but almost certain.
  23. Just got home from the theater - saw it in 3D, but not IMAX (don't have one). LOVED IT! I'm a comic book guy, but never got in to Guardians & didn't really know all that much about it going in. Plenty of action, good comedy (not cheesy), special effects were insane, acting was stellar, really no negatives for me. As far as the Lego sets go in relation to the movie, I think the Milano Spaceship could be bigger & more detailed, as it was pretty massive in the flick. The Groot maxi-figure is cool & makes sense to me now. I will pick some up down the road for myself, but still not sure about investments, as the sets just don't blow me away. Movie 4.5 stars out of 5.
  24. I would like to have a "pick a brick wall" in the basement of my new house. I will have to see how to build it.
  25. It basically says, "We think you might be a reseller and we don't sell to resellers except through our lame reselling department, don't go being a reseller." And then some folks find they are already pre-banned by the time they get the warning letter, and some folks find that the warning is truly a warning and if they mend their wicked ways and only buy a single different set every third Sunday, they're fine. I know some have called/emailed TLG to plead their cases, not sure if that has had any actual effect in slowing down an impending ban (and I don't know of any ban reversals).
  26. This is the thread I was talking about. Not sure this guy ever got the ban, but it sounds like he spent less to get a warning. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/9328-my-lego-ban/
  27. I have at least 5 of those Black Friday brick boxes I picked up for $10 each, so they should reap a nice little profit. I sold some more Hero Factory bags today I purchased during KMart clearance.
  28. I don't need that award because I am a very good anf honest individual... lol
  29. That the HH (10228) is a fantastic investment. Note to self: Six is enough Hendrik... its enough! But but... sudden EOL! You got six, its enough!
  30. ROFL - I am right there with you - before we move across the country in a couple years I am giving some serious consideration to pushing my luck on my main LEGO VIP account to see what it'll take to get me banned (and get a nifty badge here in the process!) Once I move, it'll be new bank, new debit cards, new address, and I have a reasonably common name...
  31. To me, the ban seems pretty arbitrary & random based on the stories read on here in the past. No definitive pattern on what triggers the initial warning, other than the obvious blatant over-purchasing by some. If the multiple promos were a trigger, I should've had at least a warning months ago. I mainly only purchase from LEGO Shop at Home to get the promos & I've done the 2 purchases in a row that DNIIM mentioned on more than one occasion & not a word from them (knock on wood b/c I do like the promos!). What if I have 2 or 3 kids (only have 1 at the moment), are they supposed to share one Darth Revan? Maybe this thread will help decipher a pattern, but the fact that Lego is spending money (man hours) to track customers down to prevent them from spending money is a head scratcher for me.
  32. I would make multiple lots based on theme / family. The shipping cost for that bulk lot is going drive many potential buyers away
  33. I'm in for a red badge of dishonor!
  34. I don't want the discussion to be about multiple accounts and ways to deceive and manipulate the system. I want it to be a frank discussion about why your "main" account was blocked. Going forward, I would like to have a positive effect on this situation and maybe alleviate or prevent future issues. In reality, LEGO can drop the hammer on all of us in many ways...and not just through S@H, so maybe now is the time to try and be proactive and discuss such issues. It would also be appreciated if an actual LEGO representative responded and explained their side of the story...
  35. It is gone... at least in Europe. Happy I bought an extra two this week for a good price. Thanks to Neosphinx.
  36. About the same thing happened for me close to the beginning of the year. I was in Walmart browsing through the rather bare at the time Friends aisle and there was a single Heartlake Stables on the bottom shelf in the spot where Sunshine Ranch should be for no good reason. Scanned it and came up as $35. I already had something else in hand near the discounted price at retail I was planning to buy but put that one back for the better deal of the stables. I ended up buying the other set a week later on anyway for a couple bucks less so everything worked out. Hurray for small victories!
  37. Make the banned badge be a hammer.
  38. You have to bring a child to the store and they won't look at you funny.... Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker
  39. It was still there, I just got a. Few people to help me out
  40. ordering just 2exo and 2research will never get you banned. don't sweat. relax. most likely they had tons of orders overnight. this set is already best seller on LEGO Shop at Home list. they must have at the very least sold thousand. it will probably take time for processing hence to get the order change status to shipped or with the tracking number. not sure about the availability when you placed the order. take that as a reference. if it didn't have that OOS ship in sept or something like that it will get shipped soon. all of my orders from 1210-0100 august 1st were shipped by 2100PST. { fastest turnaround i have ever seen} never had my previous orders been shipped the same day.
  41. I did not build it myself (yet). But a friend of mine has it on display. IMHO it is way better looking than most modulars.
  42. A little more subtle. I don't want to tick off LEGO too much. LOL
  43. Awesome! Thanks Orc! Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker
  44. How do you know all this? Rules on Ban hammer are not out in the public, and that applies for US and EU customers. The only thing you know is that if you go way over the line - unknown as to where this line is drawn - you'll get the ban. Discounts on exclusives? Since the rule was enforced, not even Amazon has had discounts on exclusives. And I personally do not remember a discount on LEGO Shop at Home Spain during May on the SSD. And please, with the unspeakable discounts you get during clearances and the size of the secondary market in the US, how dare you say that resellers have a harder life in the US when compared to Europe? Just play your cards right and get on with it.
  45. Ooh yeah... I forgot the best purchase... I bought a MISB 10231 Shuttle Expedition today. Exited!
  46. So now I gotta turn myself into the weirdo with a digital scale weighing lego sets in the aisles of stores.... I'll mutter to myself, missing the minifigs, missing the minifigs, ya never know, ya never know. AFOL, EOL, follow the codes! The codes knows...

  49. The market offers far better results than that. The CAGR for the Dow Jones for the past 5 years is 15.69%. Not too many lego sets offer that kind of return. There is also alot less risk and work when buying and selling the Dow compared to reselling lego sets. The simple fact is out of the hundreds of sets TLG makes every year only a handful will beat the market. If you don't choose those 4-5 sets correctly you are doing yourself a huge disservice. And if you are going to pay yourself or employees an actual wage to list, pack and do customer service then even those 4-5 good sets won't beat the market consistently. This is a great hobby, a mediocre business, and a poor investment. I understand nobody on these boards wants to hear that but there are way too many rose colored glasses around here.
  50. People in Detroit just rip the stuff open and take. Never come across a reseal but I have checked the seals pretty good when something looks shelf worn. Detroit - we aren't subtle we just plow through. But you have to hit the walmart because the 50% discounts is just too much to pass on. There are only a few other "collectors" that I know of that are hitting the same rounds that I am but we are all just buyers. No one has sstarted done the path of stealing and returning. But honesty is a funny thing - I got a few extra simpson minifig packs in my cart by accident and I went through self checkout so I didn't ring them up. Found them later when I counted the packs and I went back and paid for them. I sleep better at night knowing I paid for them. Just becasue you can steal doesn't mean you should but there are way too many out there who do. Sorry, some people just suck but what they put in the world is what they are going to get back. Karma.
