Lol this thread looks and feels like the ticker at the bottom of CNN/FoxNews/MSNBC screen. It either tracks every minute development on SSD or just repeats the same information over and over again ;)4 points

I've built set 7782 The Batwing: The Joker's Aerial Assault. It was released in 2006 for $39.99, contained 528 elements, and included 3 minifigs, the Batwing (prob inspired from the 1989 film), and Joker's helicopter (also inspired prob from the same film). A stand for the Batwing was also included that nicely integrates w/ the 7783 Batcave.7782's minifig to plane size comparison.Anyway, I've finally had a chance to buy this set (no box) at a decent price. I didn't take pics of the build process but did make some notes. Like most vehicles from the Batman 1 line, the main colors are mostly black with some dark bluish gray. pearl gold grills / vents are also used on the vehicles. Continuous Bow and inverted arch elements are also used which haven't been used yet on 2012 or newer Batman sets. These in black were used also in sets 7783 (Batcave's Batblade) and 7784 (UCS Batmobile). What really surprised me about set 7782 was the size of the vehicles especially when compared to the 2012 version (set 6863 Batwing Battle Over Gotham City). 6863 also looks to have been inspired by the 1989 film especially with the black colored Batman minifig. 6863 retailed for $34.99 with 278 elements.6863 also included 3 minifigs (updated versions of the ones from 7782), the Batwing, and a Helicopter for the Joker). 6863 seems to be more kid friendly when playing / swooshing along in the air. This was at least the case with my son.Minifigures from both sets are awesome. I assume 6863's minifigs would have the edge due to the newer designs and colors used.Size differences.7782 Batwing = 10" wide and 15" long. nearly as high as the Black Pearl when on the stand and even longer than the latest non-UCS X-Wing (9493).<p>6863 Batwing = 8 Other build review threads. 7780: The Batboat: Hunt for Killer Croc : http://www.brickpick...-croc-batman-1/ 7782 The Batwing: The Joker's Aerial Assault : http://www.brickpick...arison-to-6863/ 7786: The Batcopter: The Chase for Scarecrow : http://www.brickpick...-for-scarecrow/ 10123: Star Wars Cloud City : http://www.brickpick...ars-cloud-city/ 10173: Holiday Train : http://www.brickpick...-holiday-train/ 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon : http://www.brickpick...lennium-falcon/ 10226 Sopwith Camel : http://www.brickpick...-sopwith-camel/ 10181 Eiffel Tower : http://www.brickpick...l-tower-advice/ 10194 Emerald Night train : http://www.brickpick...-emerald-night/ 10196 Grand Carousel : http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13647-building-10196-grand-carousel/ 10225 UCS R2D2 : http://www.brickpick...0225-ucs-r2-d2/ 75059 UCS Sandcrawler : http://www.brickpick...59-sandcrawler/ 21021 Architecture Marina Bay Sands http://www.brickpick...rina-bay-sands/ 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 : http://www.brickpick...busters-ecto-1/3 points

I missed out on stopping at a Gamestop on Saturday while traveling to the beach. We passed a Gamestop today and I pulled over to stop in to see if they had any polybags left. I asked if they had a LEGO event this weekend where they were giving away the little figures with a purchase of a LEGO game. They said, "Sure, hold on a second." She asked the other employee to grab a couple posters. She gave me one Western Emmet and one Bilbo, 2 Chima online cards, and 2 posters for free and put them all in a bag for me. She said they didn't sell many and I kindly thanked them.2 points

IMHO you guys should already be charging for access to historical pricing data (and it would be nice if the members-only forum was also tied to a subscription). Some folks may share even more information if it is a smaller audience with a barrier to entry. I would be willing to pay $5/m or $50/yr for premium features. You would need to prioritize price guide updates, but with folks paying for it, that should become a priority anyways. Perhaps a poll of the current members to find out 1) if there is demand for a subscription model 2) what features they would expect for a paid model, and 3) what they would be willing to pay. By waiting to do what seems to be the inevitable, you're basically leaving money on the table. You have 30k members? Monetize! As you have clearly stated and we all agree, there are massive benefits to the information on this site. It is valuable. Just my $.021 point

Hi everyone! Yesterday I was replying to a thread on what sets did I purchased previously and that had deep remorse for. Then that set me thinking, there are quite a number of sets I purchased with no regrets but I wished I hadnt open them and built them bcos they are worth a lot now!!! Here are some of my biggest regrets: 1) Queens Anne revenge, I bought only 1 box bcos I only started collecting Lego then and didnt think much of it. Now it sits on my bed headboard, pretty awesome pc but I wished I had kept it in the box considering I bght it at retail for SGD $190 and its worth ard $500 over here now. 2) Ninjago Fortress 2505, OMG this one... it saddens me even more. I bght this as a gift to my husband (then was my bf) and I was so excited to see the set. When he opened the present, I wanted to start building it with him, so we opened the seals....... but never ever got to building it. CRAP. Now it sits in the damaged, seals opened box and the packets arent opened yet... but IF ONLY... I did not open. it would be worth so so much more. 3) I have a few other sets I wished I has not opened that are small sets, like Batman Catwoman chase, Hobbit sets, Iron man... sigh the list goes on ****** on! Do YOU have any regrets opening any of ur sets that are worth a hefty sum now? if YES is your answer, come here and rant to me. LOL and we will weep together hahaha :)1 point

I don't think so. The price spiked to around $225-$250 since it was around Christmas time and a lot of people wanted this set. After that, the value has been slowly increasing.1 point

Depends. If they like one of the licensed themes I would recommend a medium sized set that has a good amount of playability, such as a X-Wing, a set with any type of Batmobile, Turtle Lair, ect. If they don't care about any of those themes, I'ld recommend a set such the modulars, but since they do cost a great deal, I would recommend some of the creator sets, Family House, small cottage, and even more so the Bike shop and Caf1 point

the mars rover is commonly selling on ebay for more than double msrp right now, even though it isn't officially retired. i get your point but it seems there is a very recent example of this happening. i'm not suggesting the same will happen with ssd.1 point

It is about 700 right now on amazon. A double is 800 not really that far away. Prices for in demand sets that are 4 years old or more are quite high. Just do the math for the theme and years, good enough for me. Anyone selling this set at 700 IS LACKING A PLAN.1 point

I have looked into that myself and I believe all the dark blue parts will be the most costly. There are a lot of medium blue pieces but those aren't as difficult to acquire thanks to more recent releases of the Seaside House and a couple other things. Despite only using four, each of the white flexible hoses costs an average of $8-$10 each used. I went into more detail about rare parts when I wrote up a review on the set that you can check out here down the page.1 point

Okay, I did not order this set from Lego myself but one time at Walmart as some of the shelves were being stocked, I found a shipping box on the floor for Razar's Chi Raider perfectly filled with four of the set. I guess any other set sharing the same box dimensions would be about the same. 70012 - Razar's CHI Raider = 41 point

10214 Tower Bridge = 2 7888 Batman 1 Tumbler = 2 9474 Helm's Deep = 2 Not sure if these vary by retailer. One would think 7888 and 9474 would have more per case. I own / owned the above boxes so my #s should be accurate.1 point
