  1. This thread is for confirmed "Retired Product" status updates as per Lego.com official website. I decided to create this thread as somewhere to keep track of confirmed EOL dates as per Lego "Retired Product" tags. Leaving the other thread for rumors and speculation (I have been through all 75 pages and pulled any confirmed retirement dates in to here). The "Retired Product" status can be found on Lego.com by searching for "Retired Product", this link should take you there: http://search-en.lego.com/?q=Retired+Product&cc=US Yes a "Retired Product" tag does not mean the set cannot be found at other retailers, but it is an official confirmation that the set is EOL (End of Line) at Lego and that future production and sales have been halted (there may be some exceptions to this and we can never say Lego will never ever bring them back). I'd like to keep this list updated and populated with any changes, so please post them (for the US based Lego Shop at Home only please). Because the Lego.com site does not have a date when a set is retired I have used the latest stock availability date as recorded at Brickset.com. On the Lego site many sets get a "Sold Out" tag and/or a "retiring soon" tag, then at some arbitrary time they get a "Retired Product" tag. If we think about it, the actual date of retirement is the date it goes "out of stock" for the last time. As such I'd like to start capturing set's "Sold out" status dates as well, but that can be a phase 2 project. So for now if you spot a new "Retired Product" post it below. This is a table of the most recent few months. Attached at the bottom is a full Excel spreadsheet with all the sets I could get from Lego.com. I hope you find it useful or interesting. 2. Just a warning to people: As of now, everyone knows about the Ebay breach. A sad thing that unfortunately comes out of this is all the "Script kiddies" who jump on the back of big data breaches like this to prey on people's fears and make a buck (a script kiddie is basically someone who considers themselves a hacker, but sort of does basic things to piggyback onto others exploits, or can only take advantage of an easy situation) SO, watch for Ebay email alerts, and especially Paypal ones. People will make fake emails (email is insanely easy to spoof and manipulate) saying "Warning your account has been breached!" or something of that nature, with a link to change a password. This can trick a lot of people into clicking embedded links that install code on your machine that can do all sorts of things to keylog and steal all your passwords, or install a crap load of spyware on your PC. So basically, I would watch for the following: 1. Don't click on or act on an Ebay message via Email. Only do it from "My Ebay". 2. Don't do anything with Paypal except from the Website while logged in. Sadly, stuff like this happens all the time and the people on the backend of a breach end up doing almost as much damage as the people who stole all the data.

  6. You can't hold a buyer's feedback "hostage" on eBay like you can on other sites, because you can't leave him a negative or a negative-sounding positive, period. So, you can either leave him no feedback or an actual positive (it can be something like, "Thank you for shopping with us" which is all I ever leave, I think the feedback that goes "Best buyer ever! OMG! I want to have his e-Babies!!!" is stupid anyway.) In the future, tell the buyer what it's actually going to cost in postage. Nebulous questions, "Do you combine shipping?" aren't helped by nebulous answers, "Sure!" I ask what items they're looking at, and I give them a total shipping cost before they bid. It takes a few extra minutes but avoids this very problem. Re his potential 8 negatives, depending on what he says, they may be eligible for removal. The deed is done for now, you'll have to wait and see. Edited to add: By the way, when I get warning that a buyer is overly needy and/or unreasonable, I generally add them to my blocked bidder list. It sounds like the warning signs on this guy may have been there with his many questions, so another thing to consider for future. If your spidey senses are tingling and telling you someone's trouble, listen to them.

  9. Shocker that a bunch of guys (not talking about this forum, but the haters in general) don't like a set aimed at little girls. From an investor's standpoint, i see great potential in getting 51% of the planet more interested in lego sets (and not just the princessy, or hang out at the mall and get our hair done type sets).

  27. I don't want to poo poo the set too much but I don't think this is going to lead into more female fans. They buy one of these, but what else would they buy? This seems like pandering and an answer to all the "sexist" comments about the Friends line.

  28. Agreed. There are actually a lot of adult, professional women that I know that are all over this set. And at $20 a pop, it's a no-brainer purchase for their desk at work.

  29. I'm pretty much doing ship to store on all of my walmart Lego purchases. I'm not sure if it propagates through their distribution network instead of going through a third-party shipper. But all of my packages have arrived at the store in great condition. Even those not in the original Lego cases.

  30. based on science. there will be plenty of appeal. this is "woman power." pretty much, advancements made by woman. pretty cool in my opinion additionally, a set like is "key" for TLG's PR and Marketing depts. they must be thrilled beyond measurement. more info http://www.thebrickfan.com/female-minifigure-set-may-be-next-official-lego-ideas-product/

  31. I don't think that is the sentiment on this set at all. People are just not talking about it because this one seriously has us stumped. It's a winner investment wise and everyone knows it. Some just don't want to admit it.

  32. LEGO has just officially announced that the next LEGO Ideas product is going to be the Female Minifigure Set. It will retail for 19.99 and will be named the 21110 Research Institute. Read more here. I am extremely disappointed that the Sherlock project did not pass the review. I think that a huge factor in this becoming the next set is that if the did not choose it, then they would get lots of nasty feedback. Plus, this one does not have a license, so it makes more profit for them. I don't have anything against this becoming a set, yet I would have enjoyed the Sherlock project more. What are your thoughts on this bit of news?

  33. The amazon.com '2' is a purchase limit not their entire inventory for the set. Also- don't forget about the thousands of EDB sets in TRU shelves and distribution centers.

  35. Also, I would really like to have the info about the number of bags each set has. It would make things easier when buying open box items. Of course, it would be mostly for recently released sets rather than old ones, since that info would probably be hard to get now. I know Jeff mentioned this as an option at some point.
