This build was everything I wanted it to be. Believe it or not, putting together Benny was the best part because it brought back so many great memories from when I was a kid.5 points

As hard as it is to resist, I think I'll wait for this thing to hit the $40 price point. 20% off sounds about right.4 points

Thanks everyone for the votes and thank you, TOK, for coming up with a fun little contest! There were a lot of creative entries so congrats to everyone. My apologies for having an imaginary pirate ship name derived from a "good" ship name in the real world. ;)4 points

I think the only "real" exclusive that comes to mind is the Maersk Triple E. Everything else is available at some other retailer. Exclusive means nothing except expensive and no discounts.2 points

Finally finished my Sandcrawler and with Jaisonline's help have already done some fine tuning to the hatches. This thing has great playability and lots of options to modify it. The pics are just a quick MOC to see what it will look like with the studs covered. I can get the elements I need from Bricklink for $40. Then I plan on adding power next.2 points

With huge sets like the sand crawler and SSD I can see the logic in waiting for the last possible minute to stock up because of the size of the sets and the space they take up but I don't see any reason not to stock up early on these smaller cuusoo sets, they don't take up to much room.2 points

It will be a straight up winner. But with how long Minecraft has stayed around so far, I don't see this going away anytime quick. So keep from loading up yet.2 points

Materials guide for LEGO selling & shipping Many members have asked for a centralized place where they can go for shipping box information. I'm going to pin this post and update it as new information is provided. I just want to take a few minutes and thank those who wrote the following articles. They are still very good reference materials for the LEGO storage and shipping process. I may develop this into a blog article eventually. Fcbarcelona101's : Selling LEGO : Basic Materials Guide Mos Eisley 's : LEGO Storage Wars Incompetech's Catalog of Amazon.com Box Sizes - (thanks No More Monkeys) Amazon Boxes Sorted list by length - courtesy of pstebbing I've scoured the forums and here is a list of box sizes with basic set information: Boxes: 24x20x8 : Super Star Destroyer; Death Star, Roller Coaster, UCS Sandcrawler, Assembly Square 24x20x6 : Thicker sets like Town Hall, Tower Bridge 24x16x6 - 60052 Cargo Train, R2-D2, Maersk Line Triple-E, 7939 Cargo Train 24x16x4 - Helm's Deep, Vampyre Castle, Black Pearl, Friends Riding Camp, Parisian Restaurant, High Speed Passenger Train, Jabba's Palace, Downtown Diner 24x20x4 : Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Imperial Shuttle, Haunted House, Palace Cinema, Fire Brigade 24x14x4 : Dolphin Cruiser, Coast Guard Patrol 24x4x12 - Dolphin Cruiser, Coast Guard Patrol 20x16x4 - Volkswagen Camper Van, Olivia's House, Sonic Raider, Sopwith, Creator Bike Shop, Batcave, Quinjet, Moria & Ambush 20x16x6 : Thicker sets like the Republic Gunship; City Cargo Plane 20x14x4 : Attack on Weathertop, Hulk 's Helicarrier Breakout, X-Wing 9493, Black Gate 16x16x4 : Gungan Sub, Pre Viszla, Tie Fighter 16x10x4 : Council of Elrond, Desert Skiff, City Grand Prix Truck 16x10x6 : Thicker sets like Creator Family House, Hillside House 15x12x4 : Funhouse, Orc Forge, Tumbler Chase, Daily Bugle Showdown, Hulk Lab Smash 12x12x4 : Uruk Hai Army, City Cargo Truck, Creator Treehouse, City Fire Emergency 11-3/4x8-3/4x4-3/4 : Wolverine Chopper, Arctic Batman, Power Armor Lex, Droid Escape, Cloud Cuckoo Palace 12x8x3 - Battle Packs, CA Avenging Cycle, Catwoman, Gandalf Arrives, Holiday sets 10x8x4 : Battle Packs, CA Avenging Cycle, Catwoman, Gandalf Arrives, Holiday sets Envelopes: 4x8 : Minifigs & small polybags 6x9 : Polybags small & larger 10.5 x 16 : Larger shipments of 3 x polybags or more Packing Tape : buy in bulk or on sale : you can throw some in during a Staples coupon promotion to get up to free shipping Walmart.com Duck Brand Packaging Tape http://www.staples.com/Staples-Standard-Grade-Packaging-Tape-Clear-189-x-110-yds-6-Rolls/product_380107 Retailers: Uline.com : holiday sale starts first part of November (usually 30% off) Staples.com : use coupon promotions - $10 off $30, $20 off $75, free shipping over $60 Walmart.com USPS Priority Mail (free boxes at USPS.com) Michigan Box Company: Flat Boxes 18"-23" L (thanks pstebbing) GBE Packaging (thanks pstebbing) PackingSupplies.com http://www.packaging...ated_boxes.html (thanks pstebbing) Bubble Wrap: 3/16" thick x 350' ft x 12" wide - eBay Sams Club 3/16" - 12"x240' $12.98 (In store) ($.05/LF) (thanks pstebbing) I like to use large and small retailer plastic bags to wrap items in, even after I bubble wrap it. For battle packs and even small sets, I sometimes use Wal-Mart, Target, or plastic bags from any store. Additional packing isn 't really needed. Usually like 2 bags on bottom, one to wrap the item, and two bags on top. Make sure to cover the corners of the item real nice to provide extra padding. Rule of thumb : ship & pack all of your items the same way you 'd like to receive items you've purchased. I 'll update it with what everyone wants added. I hope this is helpful.1 point

So one thing Ed and I want to convey about Brick Classifieds is that... It is YOUR Store!!! There will be a category structure that everyone follows and puts their items in, but overall it you will get to control many aspects of it. It takes a little from eBay, a little from Bricklink/Brickowl, but still different. Maybe like an Etsy but for LEGO. Here are a few more features on how things will work or features that will be available to you. 1. Discounts and Promotions: You will be able to run discounts and promotions on any aspect of your store. Say you have a large inventory of #10179 MF and you want to unload a few. You can specify a dollar or percent discount on that one product. There will be a Promotions widget and links to view all vendors that are running specials. You can run specials on the whole store, so if you say "oh screw it, I hate LEGO" and want to unload everything at 70% off, you can do that. If you want to specify a special category, you can do that. There are also quantity discounts. If you say "Buy 5 Mr Golds, get the 6th FREE" you can do that as well (Note, all these specials are things Ed talked about. He is ready to unload ) 2. Buy from Multiple Vendors: You will have a cart. You will be able to buy from multiple vendors in one shopping trip. Buy 10 sets from Ed, Buy 50 from me, buy a few from TheOrkKing and screw it, buy a few minifigs from ComicBlast. At the end you will get to select your shipping methods and see a grand total and pay once. 3. Instant Payouts: Ed and I are both fans of Paypal for its simplicity, security and options. I really do not want to get involved with storing people's credit cards, going through PCI compliance and any other hassles involved with it. The beauty of using Paypal is, it will allow us to do the multiple store checkout. Once the payment is processed, each vendor will get paid their cut and start the transaction process. Each person will be notified that they have an order and can start communicating and preparing their shipments. Later when we start to include fees, the nice part for everyone is, is that all fees will be taken care of, right there at the transaction. All sellers will get their money and we will get our commission. It speeds up the process and we will not have to hire a hitman to collect for us. 4. Sell MOC designs/digital downloads: Those that don't care about buying and selling sets, but are builders and designers will have a category for yourself to showcase your designs and sell the instructions. Buyers will be able to pay for your instructions. Once they pay, they will be able to get a download link to obtain the instructions and any other documents that you need to give. Basically just ZIP everything up and upload to the system. Everything else will be taken care of. So there are a few more features, I hope this works for most of you. I am sure everyone may not care or be happy. But I think most will be ok with it.1 point

I'm not gona go into much detail of how to tell when sets are gona retire or when to expect profits and how much because its all speculation looking at past results. Right now I have been buying up haunted houses I'm new to investing not new to collecting lego though so I have some inside info already. Anyway the Haunted House hasn't been showing up in Lego Stores and sounds like a Retirement this year or is already done and selling off what is left. With your 200 I would buy a haunted house right now you can hold it for as long as you want its gona be a good return I know its a beautiful set Haunted House is something people are familar with and can be used as a display set or a great play set. Buy now take advantage of the free balloon cart sell the cart and basically get the HH for $170. Also if you sign up for lego vip you'll earn points if you didn't already know, and you will almost get enough vip points to take 10 dollars off your next purchase. You will earn $5 though.1 point

Well, not that it means anything, but the SSD and VW Camper is still in the Summer LEGO catalog. I noted a couple sets were missing, Grand Emporium and Sopwith Camel. I still think the SSD will be showing up off and on until the end of the year.1 point

@rtisan is correct. The LEGO logo is on the inside of each arm (up near the armpit) & on the bottom of his right foot.1 point

Here is a copy of June LEGO calendar. They look very similar, except for the black ski part1 point
-
Unfortunately I don`t own this one yet, but if I were to guess, I would think the arms (inside) would have the logo printed on them. If not, perhaps under his feet? Not really anywhere else to put it, unless it`s on his back, which I don`t think Lego would do.1 point

I think 2x4 tiles would look great and could decrease the element count needed (instead of some 1x4s) http://brickset.com/parts/4579690 More options included more 4x4 with 4 studs, and 4x6 with 12 studs. Not completely flat but close enough. http://brickset.com/parts/colour-Red-Brown?query=Plate On my set, I started to use darker tiles on the small side cargo doors. I'm not a fan of the light tan color there.1 point

Perhaps you could build a convenience store like 7-Eleven to go right next to your dispensary. With the one place giving customers the 'munchies' while the other hands them out, how could either go out of business? It's a match made in a heaven created by 'sweet Mary Jane' herself. Oh and just for kicks.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-drTpJN2KNQ1 point

Bought an Parisian Restaurant at the Lego Store in Wijnegem And one of my daughter let me fill a PAB already for fathers day. The free minifig shredder was not available anymore so received a free Star Wars Polybag and 3 random mini figures. Now my set of modulars is complete at least with the available ones. Came out of my dark ages to late to pickup the CC, MS and GG. Building the Petshop right now and next up the Parisian Restaurant.1 point

I think people need to realize the trend in retail and marketing today is to smaller and less. Companies like to promote "more this" and "bigger that," but in reality, the amount of product customers receive is less than 5 years ago...for the same price. From toilet paper to water bottles, packaging engineers are using clever methods to deceive customers. Why should LEGO be any different? If a LEGO set of today has 1000 pieces, are those pieces the same size and weight compared to a similar sized set from 5 years ago, that had 1000 pieces and was priced the same? Good question. Not that impressive but around two months ago got a Toy Shop and The Burrow in MISB condition for $ 150 in total. Considering they were going for a hell of a lot more on eBay already it was a decent find!1 point
