When the Millenium Falcon 10179 first came out I was like what da !@#$, $600????? That's crazy. Nevertheless I put it into my Amazon cart to see if it would go on sale and maybe I'll be stupid to buy it. After about a year after it's release I was reading and viewing other people opening and such on Youtube. I was like that's crazy spending 24-48hrs to build it. Then one day, Amazon had it on sale for $390 so finally bought it. I was so excited receiving it but I remembered it took 24-48hrs to build and I just had my first kid so I did the wise thing and put it away in the closest when I could find some alone weekend time to build it. 12 months later forgetting about it I noticed it was no longer for sale on Amazon but 3rd party people were selling it for $1000. Ebay was around $800-$900. I was like uhm I can't open it now since it appreciated plus I still don't have that much free time to build it. Two years later I looked it up and it was $2000. Now several years later and two kids and up to around $3500 I can never get myself to open it and instead I have to sell it. So excited when I first bought it and now so sad I'll never build it cause it's just worth too much money

Your civility is fine. People know who I am talking about. It's a handful of members. Supraboy was one of the culprits. He is banned. He has tried numerous times to come up with secondary accounts and IPs, but Jeff has some nice new tools to work with that can keep track of knuckleheads like him. There are many ways to respond to people within the realm of good taste and manners. Even if another member is a complete tool, there is a way to respond respectfully, yet still make a point of your superior knowledge or intellect. It's actually fun coming up with ways to stay within the accepted forum etiquette and come up with creative and sarcastic responses. I know. I was very good at it.

I just like to extend my small token of support for Ed's original post and the sentiments expressed throughout the thread. We have all noticed a bit of a deterioration in posting etiquette lately. Another similar situation happens when you buy items from the same seller and he/she offers "Free" shipping (like me and many others here). I knew I had a 10179 but thought I had opened it. But when I check a few weeks ago it was still in an unopened shipper box, first edition so should be worth more than the $499 I paid for it

If you don't want people to think you're spoiled, don't brag on the internet that you're getting $600 worth of lego for your birthday.

My wife worked with a gal and her boyfriend actually worked at the lego store. He was tasked to build a 10179 for the store and ended up quitting before he was done and they never asked for the set back. He ended up moving to Europe and my wife ended up buying if from her coworker, my wife told me she bought it for around $250 and this was around 2008.

What Pirate is trying to say is that the internet is a place where you need to be careful with your words. People will judge you without knowing you. $600 is of Lego is quite a nice haul for your birthday and exceeds what many kids might get. I never got that much for any birthdays when I was a kid, but my partner and I make a lot more money than my parents did and we "spoil" our kids accordingly. Enjoy your new LEGO! And more importantly, I hope you enjoyed your birthday!

I sure hope it is a full line instead of a single ship, they can't make enough pirates for me. I thought Pirates 2009 was fantastic, unfortunately the theme didn't get a very large lineup and did poorly, I just hope we can get our next generation of kids into pirates. For me, it was one of the highlights of my childhood to play with the Black Seas Barracuda, Caribbean Clipper, Elderado Fortress and Forbidden Island. A reboot of this theme will be a hit for AFOL's for sure, but will kids like it? As much as I'd love more large ships, I would also like some good large ports and islands, a bit like the Rock Island Refuge, Imperial Trading Post, Forbidden Island and Elderado Fortress.

Just wait for the next BN coupon round. Lol Joking asking, this is a well run site and everyone is great is their own special way. For the amount of postings and members I think we are very civil as a whole but I agree with ED , new members are sometimes made fun of for no reason. A new Pirate series would be great. I hope they don't continue the trend of using larger and larger single pieces instead of actually building a model. Before we know it, Lego construction will resemble plastic model building where you most often get an entire molded car body and then construct the innards. Trains, planes, coast guard, helicopters, superheroes and a few others are guilt of this. Sure it gets the model a bit more "accurate" in appearance but in my own opinion I prefer more building - more pieces.

I bought the Sea Cow for my sons 6th birthday. He just finished it tonight. He built 95% of it by himself! pretty impressive for a 6 year old, but he is a self appointed Master Builder. Haha! This is an incredible set! It's just huge and very detailed. I had to take a pic next to our other favorite set, the Haunted House, for size comparison.

Awesome. I just grabbed my only one for $50 a week ago.

I have a bunch of 6865s and I'm content to sit on these long term. Completionists will still be looking for these eventually and prices could come back around after the online stocks of them drop off. Or so I hope!

Sweet! Love the pics! Do you have to run 2 PF motors when you run 2 trains combined like that? Or can 1 PF motor handle it? My motor and PF lights arrived. 1 motor works okay. Waiting on my speed PF controller, just using the on/off remote switch at the moment. Nice!! I wonder if it is even worth using a second motor when running a x2 Horizon Express setup?
