It'll be like a LEGO store. There are lots of photos online you can see as examples. April 25. I'm not a Las or any other kind of Vegan. Off to make hamburger for dinner, wearing leather shoes.3 points

You fellas and your finds. I would be one 'proud papa' if you were my boys. :crying:3 points

Not really a "war story" but kind of an epic victory one. Had just gotten home from work and randomly checked Craigslist. Someone posted a curb alert for Games/Toys/Lego. Noticed it had been posted about a half hour ago and was about a 5 minute drive from me. Well, I almost talked myself out of going. It has to be a small bag of Mega Bloks or some crusty Duplo's, I thought. It had been a long day at work and I should relax....it's been a half hour...surely it is picked over etc etc. But I decided to go, just in case, and all I can say is wow. Scored: At least 30 minifigs (including Indiana Jones, monster fighters, star wars, Ninjago) I estimate about 9 lbs of LEGO and maybe 3 lbs of mega blocks/kreo-o Large grocery bag of Hero Factory stuff 9469 Gandalf arrives with instructions 79000 Riddles for the ring with instructions 9471 Urak-Hai Army 9443 Ninjago Rattlecopter with instructions and at least partials of: 6867 Cosmic Cube Escape 2505 Ninjago Garmadon's Dark Fortress 7785 Batman arkham asylum (Sadly the only minfig I have found is Poison Ivy) 7592 Construct a Buzz 7789 Lotso's Dump Truck 8097 Star Wars Slave one Couple of LEGO games many many partial builds I don't recognize and I am still going through it... All this for the low low price of free (well I factored in 5 bucks for gas ). I am still kind of speechless... And this my friends is why I check Craigslist every day.....even though 90% of the time there is nothing on there.3 points

I think LEGO is just playing games with us and trying to spur sales of the SSD.2 points

If there is anyone with a Kroger in a "Tax-free Amazon State" there is a better "deal" Kroger has 4x Fuel Points until 4/19 on all gift cards $400 Amazon gc = 1600pts = $1.60/gal off up to 35 gal = $1.60*35= $56 So $400 purchase - $56 savings = $344 SSD2 points

I always tip 20%, no matter if the service is good or bad. Just because someone is having a bad day, or someone called in sick so they have to take extra tables causing an extra 5 minute delay in getting my water refilled, they don't deserve to have their livelyhood taken away. I wish we would get away from tipping and just pay servers a straight wage, but until that happens I'll give them the 20%. If the service is truly horrible, I'll complain to the manager but still leave a tip. So my complaint.... bad tippers! Pay up cheapskates!2 points
-
Plenty of places to eat & drink if you don't wish to tip...McDonald's, Burger King, Subway , your house. Pick up a sixer @ the gas station & kick back on your porch. A lot of people don't realize people who work for tips don't make an hourly wage. A tip isn't gravy on top of what I already make, it is what I make.2 points

Do i have to do everything for everyone!?! Some of you all need to pay attention. Aftwr seeing the palace get retired cause it's offensive for religious reasons then seeing the haunted hause be sited for devil toys I took the liberty to speed the process up for the ssd. Clearly we know it stands for something very inappropriate especially given its shape. I complained to lego and they told me due to my intimidating tactics the ssd will be retired by year end. You're welcome.2 points

Sure, here is my own personal blend of a 2014 sets list. I keep adding to and modifying it as things progress.2 points

Scored a Lego Sandcrawler (10144) on eBay for $130. The original will look nice to the new one I plan on buying May 4th. :-)1 point

I've never had Target ship any Lego product that wasn't inside another box.1 point

Thanks everyone! My son may just get the Simpson house and his set out of this lucky find. We'll see how it goes, and I do have the receipt if these suddenly become available everywhere and we don't want to hold on to them. We've posted a fixed auction asking for $200 shipped.1 point

Target is very reliable with packaging and shipping Lego. I would not be worried. Ex astris, scientia.1 point
-
not that this is scientific, but if you just search under star wars theme at LEGO Shop at Home and group by newest to oldest and then look where the SSD is, the pattern would lead one to believe its the next one in line to retire - everything after it is SOLD OUT. if this pattern holds I would predict the overpriced previszla mandalorian fighter would go next (not hard to do genius since its already labeled retiring soon duh)...1 point

Show off. Ha. If it helps my case, I did buy 2 loose (never built but minifigs removed) for $45-$50 each. Then found another loose set with minifigs for $58. Granted, these purchases were in late 2012. Just months before all that Turkish mosque hoopla. I shall build a huge Jabba's Palace one day in honor of the Turkish Cultural Community of Austria group without basing it on their mosque1 point

It must be getting late. I thought you wrote Orthanc on the title and was expecting a different kind of post1 point

How sad that the SSD will retire before the Live Star! Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker1 point

Yeah....good deals disappear fast no matter the area you are in. I have lost out on some amazing lots because I hesitated or wasn't pushy enough to get the seller to agree to hold it for me.... Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue1 point

If SSD really is done, then I predict some serious cash in the future of those who bought them. It is sets like these that definitely make me wish I had more dough to play with. There is just no way I could put $500 into 1 set, no way no how, I don`t have the luxury of that risk. But it will be a big money maker, and those who did think of waiting will be very sorry.1 point

I never did get one back in the day but, boy, I wish I had. Now that I have a couple laying around (very first one was from a Games set; can't remember which off hand), I always use them when building and/or taking down builds. The process goes so much quicker and my hands thank me for it everyday. Ha. Life before a brick separator, oh what sore fingers had I. :blackeye:1 point

For years, I used these before discovering the Lego brick separator:1 point

10221 Super Star Destroyer is sold out at LEGO.com and is not available for backorder or add to bag. It is done me thinks. Following on the heels of 3185 this morning.1 point

Not at all, I wish I'd missed the damn things! Don't bother buying them as I bought a 10 for1 point

This i what I am hoping for. And I really hope (and think) Lego will release a major Batman set to commemorate the 75th anniversary at some point this year.1 point

When you get that Haunted House, open it. Build it. Display it. Play with it. You know you want to!1 point

You are wasting your time convincing the downers to have faith in the theme. What they are chasing after is sharp increase right after EOL, fast profit, easy money. LotR certainly does not fit that. Just let them be.1 point
-
not necessarily - they are not the same figure . small differences in eyes and painted on apron on Marge and Flanders and Homer has a painted out badge with the 71006 set. There are enough crazy Simpsons collectors out there who will want both.1 point

I can't find them on S@H??!!!! Are they EOL already????!!!!!1 point

Man, I think I just wandered into the weird part of brickpicker.....1 point

clearly you have never searched ebay for used panties or used socks.1 point

Any reason you didn't include Market Street? And I have no trouble with you using U.S. Data because you have to go with something but I do object to calling brickpicker a U.S. Forum. As far as I know brickpicker aims to be an international site, where American users are just the biggest group. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Brickpicker1 point

Question: How much do you actually want to raise the profile of BrickPickers by? I mean, there will come a point where it will work against the site and its members if more and more people are aware of the value of certain Lego sets (goodbye, eBay bargains!) and secondary market saturation if too many people do it. I don't think you are at that point yet, but social media can sometimes cause exponential rise in popularity in a short amount of time.1 point
