I'm trying to decide if I should listen to your advice or to your username...
  2. So today I got Lego set 101.... Something. Some hunk of junk I believe . Merry Xmas everyone!
  3. Whoo! Ebay score everyone!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=191005152127
  4. I love it when people compare sets now with sets that appreciated 300% before Lego Investing was really popular. Same thing with FB. Anyone that thinks it will come close to even the Green Grocer is smoking something.
  5. These two situations aren't even close to the same. The fact that you're now realizing that there are way more HDs put away should tell you everything you need to know about how these are different.

Just get a job with the federal government and you will no longer have to worry about moral dilemmas.

Sorry, I didn't feel like quoting you and Stephen. This seems like a very simple situation. It's a little sad, in my opinion, that this question even needs to be asked.
  8. I disagree. 30% of is 30% off no matter what you look at. Everyone here is not a flipper, so if you are the type of investor that does not need to unload right away, there is nothing wrong with this deal. Before you give advice, you need to consider everyone, not just your style.
  9. Yes. I actually bought, posted it, then canceled it. Was hoping to give BP members a chance. Couldn't have went to a better person ( no offense to anyone )
  10. For 4184 Black Pearl, I would definitely sell complete if you want to turn it around fast. If you want to maximize your profit but wait awhile for the minfigures to sell, part it out. You'll probably get $100-110 for the ship and $70-75 for the minfigs. If you sell it together, you'll likely gross $140-160.
  11. Shouldn't have any problem getting $150-200 for complete used black Pearl on eBay. Seems like the BIN listings are getting higher sales than auctions...

brickpickers bought too much crap and they ran out of normal sized boxes.
  15. Thought I'd give you guys an update, TRU handing out barrel escape like hotcakes. $25.50 today. Buy 4 and get another $25 off.

I'm sure it does bug some, but again, provided everything's in great condition (and he doesn't hesitate to send me scurrying off to Bricklink if he gets a part that's not ) my crazy building husband doesn't mind used sets - especially when the price point difference on some of the retired stuff can be hundreds (I'm looking at you, retired modulars) between new and used. The thing that bugs him most regularly is that most people aren't as careful as he is in applying stickers (dual-wielded exacto knives, a metal straight edge, a jewelers magnifying light, and the hands of a surgeon are how HE does it, or, as he calls it, "right"), so I'm forever buying new sticker sets for his used purchases.

Keep the box. You will be kicking yourself in 1-2 years when it will not matter if you take a 5-10% haircut on a set that has doubled it's retail price. As long as you're confident all the contents are still in the box, you should be fine. You can also open it and confirm all the bags and instructions are present and sell it as a "verified contents" set for the same 5-10% discount.
  18. It went up 12% in this most recent update, so to me, that is pretty good performance in a short time.
  19. TODAY ONLY (Dec 16, 2013). Sears.ca today has Olivia's House (3315) for $67.49 (that's 25% off from $89.99). However, they also have a promo code: 941612370 that gives you $50 off $200 or more. So, to maximize on the savings. Buy 3 Olivia's House (3315) @ 67.49 each. Comes to : $202.47. Use Promo code: 941612370, which brings the total down to $152.47. Works out to $50.82 each. Total % savings after promo code is: 43.5% http://www.sears.ca/product/lego-olivias-house/616-000053108-4653125

  21. Semantics......fact remains it JUST retired and is selling for well above retail.

  23. I have 10. Not really worried. It technically has gone up - couple months ago when it retired, it was going for about $48 or so on Ebay. I have seen them sell for over $60 the last week or so. So its gone up a bit. The figures are pretty awesome in this set - at least the ringwraiths are. I think it will be good. All the LOTR sets are going to do this - because they are retiring long before they are actually out of stores. Once they finally clear up, it will jump. PLus a lot of people don't even know this set is retired, so no panic buying.
  24. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this... I was starting to go crazy over the fact that I always "missed" the sale prices. I have always had fairly bad luck, but even mine isn't that bad. For as often as I check the LEGO Shop at Home site, I would have thought I'd catch an in-stock sale by now, but nope.
  25. Someone has to continue the DNIIM's Lego Legacy aka D.L.L.. An acronym for the acronym
  26. Lady yesterday thanked me for "saving Christmas."... One guy who bought a DC off Craigslist from me today for $100 congratulated me on my "use of capitalism and the free market." Lol
  27. so the guy that bought the damaged box from me, just msg'd me thanking me for making the item available to his daughter fox xmas, since he couldnt find it anywhere. That's a feel good statement right there. Should be our mission statement
  28. Only must have for me was that train car with a Gatling gun. I don't even have another train (I just bought it for the full train anyway) but that Gatling gun is badass. Every Train should have a Gatling Gun. The term "Train Robber" would have never existed.
  29. Even though I Can't buy wholsale anymore I still have a few friends in Lego that I talk to now and then. and try and get whatever info I can. Take the new line Cinderella well it takes about a year to Show Disney what they want to do, does Disney like the Designs and sets, so after everybody is happy with the sets, well then they start the business side of the deal, how long of a License will both sides agree on. And the the main thing the Price, as I stated before it runs in the millions. So Thats what happened with the Lone ranger, it took about 8 months to get everything ready, nobody knew if the Lone ranger would be a hit or flop, but Lgeo and Disney came up with a end of the year deal for sets retiring.
  30. I never said i doubled my money.. I probably made around 20$ per set I was the first to post the kmart deal @ 46$ (people chose to go for the unexpected gethering @ 42$ back then); i got lucky with that one Got few at 52$, and like I have been posting since last week , costco @ 64.99 (make it 68$ after tax and 2% cash back from costco) I rolled the dice that this week they will sell like crazy and I was right (based on everything I read and factored) I'm averaging around 12$ in shipping.. So these are your number... This is the selling thread, one would figure people already know how it is done, I am not the type of person to mislead anyone , and ive never posted anything to that effect
  31. No wonder I sold 10 for $99 each in less than 2 hours on Saturday. The beauty of living in the middle of the country is shipping does not vary too much from zone to zone.
  32. Sold 15 DC between 115-125....Even sold a badly damaged box one for 110... Now my wife is becoming a believer...welcome tp the Dark Side .....muhahahahahah
  33. supraboy888 : Thank you for the code on TRU! I've been searching on google to find it, but in vain. I just bought 4 x 6866 (Wolverine's chopper) and 1 x 10197 (Fire Brigade) using this little 10% rebate. Nothing else other than those 2 were of any particular interest...

My initial reaction to reading this: There is only one thing to do, and it is exactly what several members have already said: ensure that Fedex takes the box. Call them. Drive it to the nearest pick-up facility if your driver is a tool. As far as morals go, you no longer own that 2nd set. Lego gave you what you wanted, a brand new box, you`ve paid for only 1, that second box belongs to them only. Sorry to hear that the second one is wrinkled as you said, but that isn`t Lego`s fault.
  35. Thanks for the note on the 10% TRU. I will pick one up to build now. (:
  36. Only one of my KMart stores in the area had the Battle of Smallville. I took in a screenshot of the Battle Of Smallville for $10.99 on KMart's website. This KMart price matched 2 for me. I was able to get a 3rd at Toys R Us. They would only price match one, since there was a such a price difference to their $59.99 in-store price. I also picked up a site-to-store Unexpected Gathering at KMart. I used the $10 in gift cards from their buy a $25 gift card get a $5 gift card free deal. I had $10 in points and miraculously $15 more showed up in my SYWR account today. I only ended up spending $17.49 for the Unexpected Gathering.

It sounds to me like you are seeking justification to keep the extra set, when all you need to do is make a phone call or send an email to have it picked up. Do the right thing.
  38. 1 point
There is no dilemma. Mail it back.
  39. Just my opinion, not a fan. I think that the only way to make money on the theme was to buy at huge discounts. I don't think that these sets are gonna appreciate much after EOL. Maybe I'm mistaken.
  40. I just think it's a shame that some poor dude got his CUUSOO project denied so that TLG produce LR garbage......
  41. The solution to bid retractions is not to run auctions. one of the many good reasons. All sellers in any setting have to cope with buyer issues. If we were operating brick and mortars, we'd have to worry about shoplifters and parking problems instead.

  43. Hi Kitt, I'm Malaysian as well, but living in US. I'm interested in looking at opportunities to bring Lego to more Malaysian. Send me a private message if you want to discuss further. Fred
