I am so sorry for keeping this thread going but I just read thru it and saw that Alcarin directly accused me of cheating on my taxes

This is the only thing I'm waiting for to finish my Wal-Mart MOC. A fat guy riding one of those power scooters, wearing a Call of Duty shirt, pajama pants and flip-flops, coming out of Wal-Mart with 2 cases of Mountain Dew, Doritos, and little Debbie Nutty Bars. I love Little Debbie Nutty Bars by the way. I just learned after turning 30 that my metabolism wasn't working as well as it once was so I had to end the relationship.

Welcome! My UPS and other delivery guys are actually very approving of the Lego addition to our business. They hope it really takes off so they can stop lugging boxes of books to my door!

I just called my police station and filed a report about amazon and toysrus. There is no way they could have been selling the death star and super star destroyer for $360 last month. What a scam---obviously they were stolen. My 2 even came in the official lego boxes--not an amazon box. Also---came with expeditited free shipping, and stock photos. Actaully, they were only 350 after the amzn rewards came through. These were obviously stolen. These big giant american corporations think they can get away with it--just because they are huge and rich? Not on my watch. Officer James Mooney of the attleboro police department is on the case! I just off the phone with him--I asked if they had any new leads in the case. He replied--and I quote "Leads, yeah, sure. I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab, they've got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts!" Amazon is done this time....they went to far. SCAM! Willy431< junior detective badge please. All in good fun---I hate real scams as well on ebay---and don't take the bait. I can't say it isn't temprting though!

I think everyone that is considering returning the sets they bought needs to calm down... Maybe they made another production run, maybe they didn't. Anything we can say would just be a guess. Sure, if they take off the retiring soon tag, return your sets. But until then, just stay calm. A heads up for people just entering the game. Sets DO NOT just go straight up in value right after retirement. There is a chance that you might have to wait a year to sell these at $80, or whatever you intend to sell them at. If you get into this game with the idea that you will buy sets that are about to retire and sell them for twice the amount 3 months later, you won't last long at all because these instances are few and far between.

I am totally with you. I don't get it. It maddens me. Thats why a lot of things are going to the crapper. People have to morals and just think everything isn't their problem. As a society, people just look the other way. They don't pay attention to how their actions affect the world in general. And then they stand around and complain - banks are corrupt and charge too much money, the laws are ridiculous, blah blah blah and nobody takes freakin responsibility for the fact that their actions drove it to this way. If by posting in this thread and looking out for scammers we catch one person doing it, we have done better than all the people just shrugging it off.

How about a classic literature theme? Something similar to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. sets based on greats like the Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Robinson Crusoe, Jeykle & Hyde, Moby ****, Around the world in 80 days, the list can go on and on. Or A theme based on the plays of Shakespeare could be really interesting. I also like the idea of a Roman Theme and would be glad to see a realistic take or mythological. The History of aviation that someone else mentioned is something I have thought would work really well for a long time. It would be nice but i doubt we will ever see a zombie theme.

Okay people lets stay calm.....breathe. Production runs, long term sales strategies, and asset allocation are not altered because 1000 sets sold out quickly at target.com. These sets were likely stuck somewhere in the supply chain. This set is experiencing what I have noticed is a normal life cycle. I mean Weathertop has been retired since spring, yet I bought one online at TRU as recently as two weeks ago and I have some sitting at a Walmart that I am waiting for the price cut on. This set will likely linger for a few months and be like the Terminator** (okay, NOW it's dead...uh oh you better run Sarah Connor cause The Orc Forge is crawling after you with no legs and 1 arm). **I apologize for my random sense of humor/analogies. I know they may be bad but hopefully not worthy of a "-". You should see my Ebay listings!

Like some others I picked up Attack of the Wargs for $18.50. At the same time I also picked up Uruk-hai Army for $11 (on clearance for $22, then 50% off). I was able to get 8 Wargs and 9 Uruk. Went to three other Kmarts and found nothing.

Yet each posted suspicious listing is only getting one or two people saying they reported it or didn't. ....I hope this thread isn't being lurked in order to learn about great deals on ebay. We're not fooling around here. If you buy a $370 Death Star from a listing I suggest is fraudulent, you're gonna have a bad time. I'm talking to the newbies with more money than sense, and the vets who should have the sense to know better. Disclaimer: Don't come crying to me when it turns out you're not so clever after all.

It has been awhile seen I have gone to a K-Mart so I do not remember what day they markdown their sets. I've seen some LEGO sets get into the 40% to even 70% range at my local K-Mart. Most of the sets were either City or Creator sets. I picked up a couple of sets for my personal collection. (I didn't know about LEGO investing at the time. It has been about 9 months since I've been to a K-Mart and I started investing about 7 months ago.) The policy didn't change. BrickPicker members responded in force and basically told the OP it was wrong. I told him it was not acceptable. I think he got the point. If we delete every thread like this, how can people learn that it is not acceptable? Please...to all members. If you feel a thread promotes illegal or questionable material, notify Jeff or I or any Mod directly.

To the OP... People took offense to your post because that is the behavior that gives all of us investors and resellers out there a bad name. Returning LEGO sets for a profit is the sort of behavior we frown upon around here. To the tax question... I pay whatever taxes I owe and nothing more. I feel no obligation to pay extra taxes to support a wasteful and inefficient system.

Not saying the whole thing can't go pop, but there is only so much you can do with a stuffed doll, or a piece of printed cardboard. Lego is unlimited, I've seen more MOC's in the last couple months that comprise more bricks in sum total than I have collected, and sometimes by multiples.. and I'm probably over a couple hundred thousand pieces mostly in large sets.. Flickr is just inundated with a whole nother world built out of Lego. These are hardcore adult enthusiasts who's appetite for the brick will more than put a floor under the market. When I was growing up there was no such thing as a lego camp, and most kids put the brick down around 12-14 to go chase girls. Times have changed. I would liken Lego more to gun, or coin collecting, or even car collecting, hobbies where the business cycle is less prominent if not altogether gone.

Woke up a little earlier than usual today to build the Fall polybag. I also changed the configuration of my DeLorean time machine from version 1 to version 2.

Makes me wonder if the going rate will be dramatically different for a set with or without the misspelling.

My goodness. Take your time. I can't beleive you even have to make an excuse over this. This site is obviously a project and passion away from normal work, as is LEGO investing for most of us. As far as I am concerned, if you're not directly contributing to the work involved in updating and maintaining this site, you need to hold your tongue about how long new features take. Sorry if that comes off harsh to anyone, but demands or impatience made from the peanut gallery really, really get under my skin.

The reason he told you is b/c drop shipping is not illegal and almost every company has someone who does drop shipping for them. Basically it works like this...XYZ company says...Hell yeah I'll give you a small cut if you can sell my product for me (Affiliate marketing is the same thing...which this website and millions other use) Many times, people have to pay to be part of these drop shipper clubs where they get access to millions of products to sell. ....dude goes out and works hard to sell XYZ company's product and the company gets a sale....dude makes some $$...person gets product they want. What's the problem? Nothing illegal here...no scam...no shady person...just a hard working person being a middle man. I hope people don't get mad at me for making a bit of cash when I sell them something. So when you put this dude on blast here on brickpicker b/c you don't think he should be making money for taking his time to post a product that someone obviously wanted / or maybe you think it is illegal, you might be hurting some honest guy working hard in a honest profession. Some people here mix up legal drop shippers with people who use stolen credit cards....which makes calling this dude a drop shipper like he did something wrong even more slanderous. We aren't the cops. I have been sold an item once with a stolen credit card and the dude had 700plus feedback. The two items i did buy that I THOUGHT might have been s scam were both people who sick family members and had to get rid of something fast so they signed up for ebay. They were new to ebay and for some reason i still talk to them both helping them with ebay so I know they aren't lying/scammers. (after I bought the item and got it asked them both why they were selling so cheap....i help them with pricing their stuff now.) I know every here thinks there are things that are common sense about how to post on ebay but not everyone does the research they should prior to posting an and sometimes people are desperate and just need to get rid of stuff. If one innocent person gets slandered or gets banned from ebay then this whole little witch hunt is sad.

totally agree also........its no surprise some people don't care, same people that are buying 150 dollars b wings from amazon and then returning them to the Lego store for full msrp credit and then get all butthurt when you call them shady.

Some here are right with me when I say that I have a secret hope that the Lego market will completely bottom out. No, I don't really want that to happen, I'd hate to see lego stores closing and people loosing interest in the greatest toy, but the thought of grabbing truckloads of secondary market Legos for cheap does have its appeal. Hopefully most folks who have spent a fortune on Legos have sold enough already that aren't "all-in" with 100k+ tied up without ever getting returns. However, I know the founders of this site haven't sold anything yet and they most likely have well over 100k already invested.

Yeah definitely don't return your sets. Hold them. This will retire and it will rise in value. My gut feeling is LEGO is screwing with investors/resellers by doing this. Remember when someone suggested having a paid portion of this site so that not everybody could access information. I feel as if LEGO employees just lurk here and do not contribute to the forums. What if, instead if a paid portion of the site (which I am against) there is a portion of the forums that can only be entered when one reaches a certain level or number of posts. This is. Encourage people to participate in discussion and also prevent "lurkers" from finding out information without returning anything. Plus it would be free.
