This almost needs its own thread. It's either real (I never would have believed it at AE), or a whole new level of fakes. Hmmm...

I was not too lazy to take a photo, one parcel has already been delivered. Delivery to my city from Moscow. The set was purchased for 88$.

Problem with this is that I would have to open it up just to make sure, maybe on every item as there's a chance it could be just a really good fake.

I don't see any problems. The store clearly says that the original LEGO and the official representative, and in the reviews it is also tracked. I have 3 such sets from another store bought for $ 92 and there is no difference at all, even in weight.

For countries without official lego stores lego may use popular local sites to host their web store. I guess in the case of Russia its Aliexpress. In Singapore there is an official lego store on Lazada which is probably less well known outside of South East Asia.

I think that Aliexpress is trying to change it's image from being known as site when you can buy cheap Chineese stuff and knockoffs to reliable marketplace. In Poland it is advertised very hard with lots of radio and tv commercials. I checked yesterday but on polish version of the site there are no original Lego available

In Russia, there is one representative who sells LEGO sets and only there are exclusive ones that can not be found anywhere, and the main sets are sold by a dozen large online platforms and offline stores, but they do not have ideas, modular, etc. sets. shop.lego.com it doesn't work here. I don't think it's worth proving that 42110 is the original, even from the photo you can see that it's LEGO. https://tmall.ru/ apparently some division from Aliexpress, which only this year sells LEGO, and their range is quite wide with world brands, but apparently only for Russia.

Sorry for getting off the subject a bit.

The Bugatti 42083 is not on any retirement lists, however I cannot imagine the shelves having two supercars for an extended period. What are you guys take on this?

My take is its not mentioned as a possible retirement and there are tons of other good buying options right now.  Why risk funds on a slow moving, big ticket item.

I bought a few of these last year for 20% off. Chatter is they will retire early to mid 2021, with an 18 month lifespan. Prices are well below MSRP on eBay right now, so I'm not to sure how it will do EOL.

It was big suprise for me not seeing this set in retiriment lists.... Technic sets has a very stable lifespan, 2.5 years for big sets, some smaller finish after 1.5 years. Also Porsche 42056 was here just 2.5 years. I am ready to see unexpected EOL dates for creator experts, but not in Technic. I was almost sure that Bugatti will finish in the end of 2020. But now I am confused a lot.

LEGO has a lot of dishes spinning right now...so many new releases with extended lives on many long in the tooth sets...and still more new sets in the pipeline

It's been a crazy year and past metrics/trends simply do not apply IMO as we move into 2021.

I think LEGO, like most manufacturing/retail companies were "all in" for this current holiday season to make it as big as ever (to cover for the losses earlier this year)...probably running their lines faster than ever...to get to the finish line of this holiday season.

After the frenetic pace...a longer term outlook will settle in and I expect some fallout...being unexpected EOLs left and right.

well that's my guess

Technic does reasonably well here, the older porsche is going at 450plus. With the continuation of the supercar Technic line completists will pay I think. My rrp is super high compared to the region so its not hard for me to do some arbitrage and get 50% off. I had only 3 porsches and I've got a bit of fomo for the bugattis... But yes I don't want to tie up big sums in them if it's not going in 2021. I just fear that it is going by mid 2021, it is well discounted at this point in time here.

the mid-2021 retirees may be especially brutal...hard to fathom LEGO can keep so many sets in production with new ones released almost monthly. sure there may be some time...but as noted above; that's gonna be at full RRP w/ quantity limits
