MartinP
This be a decent indication of how many unopened ones are sitting around, and how many people are't reporting them as found. Indeed. I wonder if anyone picked up a CMS 10 polybag and is waiting to sell it and it is a Mr. Gold and they do not know that.
JoshTX
Well, use history as a reference. I don't know the answer, but have other Lego items started off high and then lost value over time? It isn't all that simple, but yes, other lego items have started off high and lost value over time, such as some of the SDCC collectibles. TheOrcKing
The current count of Mr. Golds found is 1,448.Man, if it is going this slow now, I can hardly wait when it hits 2,000.

Man, It is that low. That is only 30% of the 5,000 made. I wonder what the odds are if I go to my local Lego store and buy up all the CMS I see. Maybe I can find Mr. Gold. I think that even if you buy all of the CM's at your LEGO store, you still have fairly minimal chances...not to mention the hundreds of unwanted CM's! Something makes me think that either LEGO hasn't finished making all the Mr. Golds, or not all of the Mr. Gold minifigures haven't been distrubuted yet. I was expecting at least a good 4,000 to be found. Remember when we could could the number of Mr. Gold's found on one hand?

"Selling 40 Librarians, 90 Roman Commanders, 30 Sea Captains, and a whole lot of Trendsetters!" To be honest though, it's hard to sell some of the CM's for profit, especially if you factor in taxes and eBay/PayPal fees. For me, that's a whooping 21% in total! If I put them cheap enough that people will buy them and I still make a profit I would be happy.
JoshTX
Seems like series 10 could go out of circulation long before even half of these are found. I wonder if this is a result of people like us on BP, hoarding sealed cases waiting for retirement so we can sell than as a chance at Mr. Gold. At least the odds will seem better if less of them have been reported.
sadowsk1
I think the fire has gone out for Mr. Gold hunting from people I talk to anyways. Feels like too much work and not enough pay off so I skip them if I see them this day. I'm looking forward to series 11 more.

Alcarin
I agree with you. Now, I wonder what will happen to all the Mr. Golds that haven't been found? They will start dropping in value more and more untill they end up going for about 150-250$
gladeye
They will start dropping in value more and more untill they end up going for about 150-250$ I would try to comfort myself with that thought if I had never gotten one too, but how many other lego items have followed that trend in the past? Every item starts dropping in value Mr. Gold already did if you look the graph... first one sold for like 1.1k bucks!
MartinP
I was looking at the eBay listings for Mr.Gold and some of them say that their Mr. Gold is unregistered. This may be one of the reasons why, there are so few reported to be found.
peculiar23
I still have 120 series 10 packs I picked up for $1 each that I haven't had the time to search through to see if I have a Mr. Gold. I guess if i do have one and he drops to $150 he could still pay for the whole lot and give me about $20. which is ok by me. Though hopefully I can sort through before Christmas. JoshTX
I was about to say the same...the value is Mr. Gold may not take a complete nosedive, but the excitement has blown over and I expect the value to drop somewhat.

Feels like too much work and not enough pay off so I skip them if I see them this day. I'm looking forward to series 11 more.I know I really am not super active in searching for a Mr. Gold so much as just getting a few last extras for myself from Series 10 but most of that is due to his limited run and the slim chance of even finding one at all. I'm already past the point of smooshing though the current series and look forward to the next challenge with Series 11! (Although my wallet is not.)I was about to say the same...the value is Mr. Gold may not take a complete nosedive, but the excitement has blown over and I expect the value to drop somewhat. The initial excitement made like Elvis and left the building. Now it's like all the scragglers out there are being found at a more casual pace which suits me fine. Looking at values of older Collectable Minifigures makes me think Mr. Gold will still hold high value over time. Somebody somewhere will always want one of something like this. ExoBro94
Actually about a week ago I had this exact thought. "Hey, I haven't done any smooshing in awhile." So when I had some free time, I went to the LEGO Store and felt through at least 7/8ths of the packs that they had. No luck. Just like everybody else, the exciting is over for me. But maybe ill get lucky and find him one of these days since nobody else is really searching anymore.

I just want one for my own collection though. I've decided I wouldn't sell him if I find him.
Huskers1236
My local TRU told me they brought out a new case the other day. Knowing full well that they searched it before it hit the floor, I didn't even bother. Since a salesman told me that they search them, I won't even bother with the series there. I am waiting for Series 11 which should be showing up soon.

I'm also waiting for the Series 11 to start.

I'm also sick of TRU selling above RRP so, I no longer go there no matter what deals they have.
