I can't wait to see this in a large Modular City between the Daily Bugle set and some other set like Town Hall. Wish they would have snuck in one of the connection pin points on the side.

I do wish it was a little bigger, but I guess this is ok for scale.

Official Orient Express 21344 pics are up, it is Blue.

The first thought that popped in my head as the photo came up was Polar Express because of the blue cars and white tops.  Although quite a bit different side by side.  Anyone know why they chose blue?  A lot of the images up to this point seemed to be leaning green.

Edit:  I see now, the original campaign had a green engine/tender and the car was a dark blue.  Sort of like the original better.

Perhaps they went with blue because there's already a fantastic green engine. I feel that it might be an easy mod to lengthen the engine 4 studs, but won't know until I see it.

Pictures look like it's compatible with current setup, thus in for 3.

Yay LEGO!

No included power functions or the option to add them for $300?

i don't think lego really knows how to make motorized trains anymore outside of the city sets that come around every 5 years or so. i don't really understand these statue sets, but apparently they sell well enough that they keep making them.

In the designer reveal video they stated that the learned from the "UCS" Hogwarts Express that people wanted a train that fit on real tracks so they downsized the original locomotive submission and included 2 cars instead of one. But what good is it if the train fits on lego tracks but can not be motorized? Perhaps they will get it right on the next train set.

I was really looking forward to this set, but looks like a miss. Funny that Lego will use the slow sales of the UCS Hogwarts Express and this Ideas set as 'proof' that Creator Expert trains are not worth the effort.

They priced themselves right into a slow seller here.  Should have been $199.99.  UCS Hogwarts Express is over 5000 pieces plus licensing at $499.99.

There is also a licensed parnership in this set as well.  It sounds like they were heavily involved on the design process.
