Recently I began exploring building sets virtually to determine if the set is worth the build value for my own desire and potentially reading into my buyer base. Here is what I do: I downloaded LEGO Digital Designer and found some instructions from sets. I have built all the Star Wars potentials and the DC and Marvel items and have found something interesting. I have discovered bricks that are new and kind of exclusive! It is fun to see that Lego has many custom bricks which has in my opinion increased the desire in the set. I also decided to design some CUUSOO projects and looked over the CUUSOO sight and what is in the works. They have some very cool ideas …

After seeing a post on The Brother's Brick, I got inspired and decided to create my own small scale THE LEGO MOVIE logo. Because of my lack of pieces, I had to construct a cube and build the words over it. I know that grey is not the ideal color, but that is what I had. I still want to buy some pieces on Pick-A-Brick to finish off the texture on the front. Here's the back: Comments, criticisms, and suggestions welcome!

  3. What have any of you found as the best way to orgainize these things: Complete sets, extra pieces for building, and your minifigure collection? I currently try to consolidate as many sets as I can in one box (not all of my sets are in one box. I have like, 30+ boxes, 10 of which are huge. What I mean is that if I get a large bin and I can squish 20 sets in there or fit 10 sets comfortably, you better believe I am squishing them). The sets are also orgainized (as much as possible) by theme/subtheme. I have a box for DC, and one for Marvel, both the same size. I have more than 2/3rds of the boxes dedicated to Star Wars, and I try to keep them orgainized, but I have wa…

So I've been sorting through me old Lego sets and pieces & I thought I'd try something. Anybody every try to build any classic sets and change the color to make your own custom variation? Here's a couple I came up with so far, from a couple of my earliest sets: The Classic Jeep 330-1 & Bi-Plane 430-1 Let me know what you think...unless this has been covered before. Thanks!

  5. So a few days ago I bought 2 EV3s. One was to build and one I'm keeping MISB. Here is my issue, so we all know that you can build different models as shown on the box, but did anyone know that there is only instructions in the box to build one of the models? The rest of the models (including the main attraction, the robot that is prominently displayed on the front of the box) can be built but you have to download the instructions from a website. That isn't really a huge deal or so I thought but when I printed out the instructions for another build, it was 117 pages!! Seriously? With ink costing more than my actual printer that just isn't worth it to me to be wasting all t…

In a small apartment our count is up to 63 (17 mini scaled like the SW planet ships). With four winter themed coming down soon. They're everywhere except the kitchen and bathroom (loo for the brits). We definitely have a problem just wondering others level of displays?

We put this together a few weeks ago and noticed it started to bow at the ends. My son decided he wanted to build it himself for a school project, and I took it apart and bent some of the pieces back so they'd lay flat. Now that he's about a 1/3 of the way into the build it's bowing again. Any tips to avoid this or is it just something that comes with these wide builds that don't have a solid base?

  10. Anyone know of any website that has Modular MOC's step by step instructions? I know there are many that you have to pay for. But are there any that have free instructions and guides?

So I am looking for a set to buy to build for fun, not as an investment, although I may sell it later as used. I would like for it to be $400 or under and NISB. It can be a current or retired set just looking for a fun build. I am not into the play factor or minifigs so the DS is out and I have all of the Arch sets already. Not interested in TB or any Modulars. My current choice is 10221 SSD just want to make sure I am not missing a neat retired or other current set. Your Suggestions:

I have a plastic tub of lego from my childhood that I have in the basement. I have moved a couple times since I last used them, probably when I was about 12. they have been in the same container and although I would never get rid of them, I always figured they would be for my kids, if I ever had them. I never gave them a second thought and completely ignored the toy aisles at stores before I had kids of my own. I was thinking to myself the other day, since I have probably enough lego now to fill a U-Haul- what was my first new set when my interest was rekindled? its taken me a few days but I have finally tracked it back to the blacksmith attack on sale at target for…

Picked one up for $515. It just arrives. Includes all 3 instructions. I'm also trying to figure out a way to get the box which is in below avg condition for next to peanuts. Anyway, I decided to start with the upper 3rd part. With all these dark bley elements, I'm started to go "mad". It is frak-in nuts (so many bags). ...and I thought all the white elements drive me crazy while building 10198 (Tantive IV) last week. I started grouping all the same elements together. Can't wait to sell this one. However, I need to build it for pics and make sure it is 100 % complete. The last I sold was in the box and had a few sealed bags so I never checked before selling…

Sorry if this topic was posted elsewhere. I searched but couldn't find. If your goal is MOC'ing, specifically city scenes (modular buildings, streets, railway, etc.), what's a better approach to gathering materials? Buying bulk on ebay or buying sets? For example, there's some discussion about the Tower Bridge being a good raw material set because of the high price per piece ratio. Would it therefore be better to buy that set? Assume I'm looking to build buildings in usual colors like dark brown, dark gray, tan, light blue, etc. Tower Bridge has a good amount of those. Or should I wait for what looks like a good ebay bulk sale in terms of the ki…

  17. It has been a while but Brick Builders Pro has just released a new design. The Old Corner Square I know there is a flickr & MOCpages gallery but nothing new has been added to either for years it seems.

I'm not looking to invest, just for a fun, interesting, and relatively long build, with a really nice looking and satisfying end product. Do you think I should go with Architecture or one of the Modular Buildings? Specifically, I'm torn between Palace Cinema or Imperial Hotel. Thanks!
