Have you ever thought about rebuilding old sets using new techniques? If so then perhaps you should check out experienced MOCer L@go's gallery showcasing fresh spins on classic sets. Will be building my city over the next couple of months. Is there anything that I should plan ahead, so i don't have to tear down and start over again. The layout of the city will be like an L shape. Its not going to be that big probably 8ft by 4 ft ( 8 being the longest part of L and 4 the shortest)

Many pooh-poohed the UCS B-wing. I rather liked the model, but admit some changes were needed. I attempted to make the changes I felt were necessary to become a true UCS model. Pictures are on my MOC pages. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/390298

  6. Let's say you wish to introduce someone to the grand world of Lego. What set would you pick as the best example to get this person going? Impressing him/her display wise can be one thing while deciding on something for them to build that keeps their interest piqued is another. Perhaps on that note this could be considered a two part question. What set makes the best display for showing off what Lego is to other people and potentially get them interested? What set would you pick out as an interesting design for someone else to build that could leave them wanting more?

I remember seeing the digital creation by BobDeQuatre months ago and thought that was impressive as heck but this.... this goes beyond anything conceivable as a MOC or work of art. Here is the backstory behind the character and design going into this. Eurobricks

Finally finished my Sandcrawler and with Jaisonline's help have already done some fine tuning to the hatches. This thing has great playability and lots of options to modify it. The pics are just a quick MOC to see what it will look like with the studs covered. I can get the elements I need from Bricklink for $40. Then I plan on adding power next.

  11. I just watched the Lego designer video of the "Maersk Triple-E" and it must have 50 stickers for all the cargo boxes and I've watched some reviews on Youtube and they don't look all that great... I was curious if anyone has used standard plastic model-making techniques on Lego's; namely sticker'd parts? From my experience making Gundam models, there are things you can do to sticker/decal'd parts that will blur the lines between the sticker and the pieces, giving it a more "printed" look that most of us prefer. Or is this treading into dangerous territory; I've only heard of using these methods on DECALS and not necessarily stickers... Thanks! …

Hey all, I just finished my first Modular MOC and thought it would be fun to share with everyone. I was trying to figure out what sets Lego would never make, and settled on a Dispensary...with an upstairs grow-op. My Minifigs are LOVING it ;D

Hey folks, Maybe someone on here can help me with this.... How well can LEGO be dated using the various markings on the bottom of pieces? Do markings like Pat Pend., Pat Pend. (obscured), etc. fall within very specific dates? Would some vintage sets have had a mixture of both markings in the same set for instance? Also, is the there a timeline anywhere which outlines when sets went from using old production pieces or markings, to newer production? Like, since when have the current types of brick (thinner sides, different type of plastic etc) and plates been in use? Or is there anywhere where I can find this kind of info? …

This must be pretty new, but I think that's the most epic scene with the Ecto-1 that I've seen so far... https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/72984233@N02/sets/72157644836788001/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/72984233@N02/sets/72157644836788001/

Hello All, Nearly everyone loves the new 42009 crane. Largest Technic set to date. The possibilities are endless. I have recently MOD'd mine out to capture the brilliance of the Liebherr 1500 8.1. Now, there is a youtube video going around trying to lift the 8070 supercar with the crane. Failed pretty bad. Would a much larger crane do the trick? Check out my postings to find out! http://mocpages.com/moc.php/388884

  16. Hi I'm doing an inventory of a set that has about eight pieces missing. It's going to cost around ten dollars to buy and hand the parts posted. This is for a set that is probably worth $25 once completed. It seems crazy to have to spend so much to complete a set that really isn't so valuable. At this stage I'll probably do it because I want the set complete for our use, but I'm interested to hear views. Thanks zeee

I just finished my version of the Grand Emporium. I had to use 3 1/2 GE's for this building. My inspiration was a picture from the web: Especially the windows in the middle are very nice. But i wanted a larger MOC with 2 original GEs on the left and the right. (corner buildings on the left and the right, a straight building in the middle) The GE on the right is 100% a GE, the one on the left is almost original. I only had to change the roof, because i wanted to have the large windows next to the straight MOC windows. The straight MOC was build with parts from 2 GEs, especially the tan parts. I still have to build the interior of the straight MOC (m…

Well I have 4 more bags left to go and my Sandcrawler build will be complete. Hopefully it will rain this weekend so I can work on it. I am going to finish one of the front side panels with brown flat 1x4 and 1x2 tiles to cover the studs. I will post pics but want to see how it looks before coving the entire vehicle. I want to add power functions and picked up a 9398 Crawler last night and before I open it up to pull the power elements wanted to get others with some experience doing this advice and/or point me to a link with some tips. If anyone who has built the Sandcrawler and the 9398 could chime in and tell me about the feasibility I would appreciate it. Al…

  22. Please don't hate me, I am new to collecting and I think I scored a huge find. I purchased a large lot from someone local which included a millineum falcon 10179 used in the box. No manual but original box , with the box being in a 5 out of 10 condition. When I opened it up there are the majority of the pieces and the mini figs . Many of the pieces still in original bags, some in ziplock and some loose. It looks like someone started on it and gave up. I now know this is a once in a lifetime find and am so blessed to discover it.. Here is my question Because I am new, I don't know if it is better to: 1. Build it , opening the bags to see how complete it is? 2. Leave…

  23. So I bought and built 79103 Turtle Lair Attack and noticed one of the pieces in the instructions is different from the piece included in the set. The piece in question is the black cage-like piece pictured below: The one in the instructions has only two pegs, but the one I have has four. Will this have any effect on the resale value or is this just an instruction misprint? Just curious if I should contact Walmart or Lego regarding it as it is very noticeably different and I don't want the next owner to think I'm trying to pull a fast one over on them or anything.

  25. Yup. Thanks to various Craigslist purchases made this year I've had to tear-down way more sets than I've built. Like um... probably 40 sets torn down to 4 built. I feel much shame.... The other confession is that I like it. I do it while watching Netflix and there's something oddly satisfying about it. And I'm a wee bit anal about it too. I follow the instructions in reverse and create the same bag layout to make it feel like the set is new for whoever builds it next (hopefully me). Plus it helps me identify any missing or incorrect pieces that I need to bricklink. The next step will be to switch from hand-writing the bag numbers to using a label maker. :-…
