  9. Hi, I have an existing shelving unit in my basement that will be used for my Lego sets. Please see attached picture of a similar one, I store each set vertically and in a basic checkout Target, Walmart, etc... bag for dust protection. The bags also help protect from scuffs when gently sliding sets in and out. One question I have is for those with a similar inventory setup, what do you use on the ends on each self? Do you use a bookend type of object? I currently use a set in a shipping box on each end. I then place a small but sturdy object (e.g. actual bookends).

Here's yet another opinion thread. "What theme(s) or set(s) do you think are the weakest?" This can range from what your gut instinct is for investment to personal opinions on less than stellar designs and this includes all sets & themes, not just currently available or future ones even. Here's my starting two cents. Speed Racer - 8160 - Cruncher Block & Racer X Released in 2008 alongside the new film and three other sets, this one ended up being by the far the 'lemon'. Racer X and his Shooting Star car were already in another set so there really wasn't a reason to toss him in another. Now the truck cab is pretty cool. It has a big, surly, "get the f*** outta m…

Do any of you ever buy the mysterious "x" number of lbs grab bags of miscellaneous lego parts? What are your thoughts on these mystery bags ? I have scoured some of the thrift stores in my area and while I have turned up a huge amount of sets I have found some rather interesting finds a few months back I picked up 8 bags of legos at a good will for $45 and I think there may have been an old star wars tie fighter in the bag. A Friend of mine went to a good will and picked up two huge bags of legos one had a super star destroyer kit or a least part of it , and the other bag her scored had a star wars AT Walker kit in it both bags cost him less than $30. So your opinions f…

  17. I just saw and read this article in the news feed. Has LEGO sold out? - The NY Times In a nutshell, the article talks about how (supposedly) some parents and researchers are saying that LEGO sets now are less open-ended and imaginative. That most are tied to one licence or another. (Lord of the Rings, Marvel, etc.) A mother, Tracy Bagatelle-Black, said and I qoute

I know that LEGO investing does not really give you the chance to really open the boxes and dump pieces all over the place, but I am sure that there are plenty of you here that still have many open sets and kids that love their sets. I saw the following product on TV and thought it was a very good idea, especially for the kids. A very simple way to allow everyone to play, but is great for very quick clean up. So, maybe you have not seen this and can find some use for some storage and easy access for building fun. Lay-n-Go Original Activity Mat Lay-n-Go Lite Travel/Mini Activity Mat

  20. Just cruising BrickPicker news after a big day and what should I come across but an article about my upcoming holiday venture switch bricks - the article is "rebuilding the world brick by brick". Very cool to see my humble little article pop up internationally on the Brickpicker site ! While I don't do a lot of trading/investing in LEGO Switch Bricks is my way of enjoying my hobby and sharing it with others. If you're an aussie using this site, in South East Queensland and have Kiddies that love LEGO too check out the article

  21. BrickUltra I'm not aware of a set that retails for 1,000.00 Maybe he is referring to sets in the secondary market?? In that case he would be surprised to learn that many sets carry this price tag.......and his mind would be blown if he saw the current market value of the 10179. Also is there a set with around 100 pieces going for 60.00?? Maybe in Europe lol

REI has a Lego LED Solar Torch that is a 7" minifigure on sale for $14.83! I've never seen this before, looks like it is not made by Lego just licensed to Play Visions. If the plastic is the same Lego quality plastic, I might like this! Does anyone have one of these?
