  1. Started by br82uca,

I was browsing through the forum and read someone else's intro, and realized I should probably introduce myself too... I've loved Legos ever since I was a kid, but we didn't have a lot of money so I never got into collecting -- That is until the Holiday Season of 2012. My wife and I were shopping at Walmart, I saw the LOTR sets, and that did it for me! You know how as a kid we all want to be adults so we can get what we want when we want it? I mean that in a reasonable way, of course, like having dessert before (or dare I say it, instead of) dinner, or buying that awesome toy you've been eyeing without having to save your allowance for months and months. Well, I…

Hi, this is Dave under a more private account name. I never introduced myself but thought I'd take a moment to say thanks for a great site and community. I'm an uber comic and Star Wars geek and am a collector first and investor second. I'm in my late 30s and just got into LEGOs for the very first time as a hobby two months ago when my man, The Flash, finally got his own mini-figure. I had no idea how awesome LEGOs were, even for adults or how amazingly well they held their value. I am building a relatively small to medium sized Brickfolio, mostly in licenses I am familiar with. Thanks again! See you in the forums! Dave Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker

Been lurking around some time, so time for a "hello everone" post. I am an AFOL collector, not investor just yet, in my mid 40s, looking to leave a lego legacy (no pun) to my son. I have kept most of my classic space sets and entered the dark ages in 1985, yet recently I saw the light again! In my part of the world "low prices" and "lego" are in the vast majority of cases two mutually exclusive notions, so bricklink, amazon and ebay are my main sources of happiness, since lego shop doesn't even deliver here. This means no VIP points, no clearance, no garage sails etc and therefore the lowest price I can get plus postage, approaches market launch price. (Even so it'…

Hey there, I've want to collect lego, mostly because of nostalgia as they were my favorite toys since i was a kid but also as a part of an investment. Now before i decide wich line i'd like the most i think about buying first a couple of bulks, how much would I pay the maximum per kilogram? Is 10 euro per kilogram a reasonable price, or is that to much? With kind regards!

Hello Brickpickers! I just saw the Lego movie and it seems to have lit the long dormant Lego spark from my childhood. I found this site and you guys have a very interesting approach to Lego (investing) that I'd love to learn more about. I want to give it a try and I'm ever so slowly learning how to start. I'll take any advice you guys are willing to share and I'm looking forward to being part of this forum! -nigh

Hi everyone, found this website while looking up LEGO stuff and I decided to start inventorying my LEGO collection with the Brickfolio. Lots of good articles and reads as well. Grew up with LEGO and still collect some random sets/pieces today. Also love all the LEGO TT Video Games!

  9. Hi all, Another new member here, from The Netherlands, although I am British by birth Ive been building and buying Lego for the last 20 years, although perhaps rather stupidly not as investments until very recently. My childhood was spent building awesome Technic Models, but in the last 7 years I have expanded my horizons a little with some city and modular building sets. This looks like a great, active community and I am looking forward to getting stuck in. Here are my modular sets, just missing this years Parisian Cafe and the original 10190! I do kick myself slightly for all the great sets I have walked by in the stores over …

Hi, I am mike from Melbourne. So far I always buy lego for my kids, most of them are Starwars collection. Now I am likely turning this hobby into investment. This week's local store has 20% discount, so I snapped 5 Technic 42009 and put it the storage. That will be my first purchase towards investment. CHeers

  11. Hi all, Figured it was time to introduce myself. Been lurking and taking in the extreme amout of information on this site. Who knew it was like this? I certainly didn't but can't believe I missed out all these years!!! As most on here I played with Lego as a kid but very basic simple blocks and create your own creations type of building. Now my son was into Lego but in the last couple months since Dad is now getting into it more because of this site and add on the Lego Movie which we all loved (wife included) I feel we are about to get out of control. Wife already wants to collect all the Lego movie sets... I have started buying for investment (and …

  12. This seemed like a good forum for my first post so here goes! Like many I'm sure, as a child I played with Legos, such as Aquazone, Wild West, some of the later "classic" space sets. I still had my Legos in high school, sitting in a big bin somewhere. Sadly, they were disposed of. Fast forward, about a year ago I purchased my first Lego set as an adult, the Sith Fury Class Interceptor (9500). I've always been into Star Wars and it just looked cool. I didn't think about collecting more of them or investing in Lego or anything of that nature. A few months later I stumbled onto some YouTube channels, this website and a few others, and started reading ab…

Thought I would say hello, and introduce ourselves!! lol Im Peter obviously and im a dad with a 12 year old son who loves sw lego more than anything, well maybe tied with 3 and 3/4 action figs. I like buying lego and keeping it sealed and minty and my son likes to rip it open and play with it. I make him use a knife to open and keep all the boxes mint. I love the brickfolio part of this site!! I would never have guessed we had that many sets and really had no organization to our collection. As the person in the house who spends all the money on lego its nice to know that its not money thrown out the window but an actual investment and that makes it all a little easier to…

Hello everyone, I`m 38 years old and out of my dark ages since 9 months (VW camper did the job ;-)). I`ve been following this site since. And I love it. The new app keeps me up to date but also strongly hooked to this site. I tried to make some investments into Lego and I must say it has been fun (although i did not sell a single set! I know !!!). I guess I`m a small investor. I mostly by two items and hope to fund my hobby, therefore probably asking to much for my sets. Next to that I have emotional problems selling some of these wonderful sets, especially when I have only one set. Sadly enough I `m collecting more than I`m building now at the moment. I fin…

After almost a year of reading and learning so much from everyone on this site: Hello from the GTA, Ontario, Canada! Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge of lego as a hobby and as an investment. When my kids graduated from Duplo Christmas 2013 I've been looking to Brickpicker for guidance on sets for them to build now as well as more advanced sets for them to enjoy when they're a little older. I decided to finally introduce myself today since actually have something useful to share. I'll post it in the Canadian Walmart Clearance thread. Have a great day everyone!

Hey there! Let me tell you, finding this site hasn't made me this excited since I started stacking gold and silver years ago. It's past 3 am here but I'm so engrossed in this site that I can't go to sleep. I've recently came across a bunch of giftcards in December and I've been sitting on them because I didn't want to make a bad buying decision and then last week I walked pat a R2D2 LEGO set. After some research on this site I decided to use those giftcards and pull the trigger on 20+ R2D2's and I couldn't be happier! I mostly invest in gold and silver (NEVER the stock market!) but never thought about LEGO's. With the expection of my big purchase I'm just happy to b…

Hey all! Less than 2 months ago ... for Christmas ... my girlfriend gave her 3 year old son a pretty cool set of Lego Duplo's. Not only did he love them ... but her 2 year old daughter loved them as well! Although I have never owned or played with Lego's previously ... even as a child ... I quickly realized how "genius" the Lego Duplo's were ... in that they would solve a lot of "issues" I was having with the 2 kiddies anytime they came over to my house (yes ... my home has never been "kid friendly" ... as I have previously never had any kids)! Instead of wreaking havoc with my DVD collection ... my piano ... all the books on the bookshelf ... they coul…

  20. Hey, all! I recently got into the idea of Lego investing and have been doing extensive amounts of research. Essentially, I've sold my soul to the US Marine Corps, and after my contract is up I plan on taking a year or so to do some traveling. I already have started putting money aside and plan to continue to do so for the remainder of my five year contract, and though this may leave me with a healthy sum to fall back on, I recently stumbled upon the idea of LEGO investing and thought that some long term investments may give me a substantial boost to my travel funds. My plan is this: I'm currently employed at LEGO store, which offers me a small discount on lego sets. …

Hello fellow brickpickers, Greetings from down under!!! Is this the lego anonymous website??? It's been 24 hours since my last purchase and I'm not sure I'll make it through the day!!! I thought I should introduce myself and stop trolling this site, which I have been doing for over a year now and it's been very helpful btw, and crawl out of the lego bin and say hey. I have the usual story, loved lego as a kid, went through my dark ages and almost grew up, then I met a girl and she loves lego too. I'm a lucky guy, The love of a beautiful woman.... And a room packed with lego!!!

Hey everybody! I've been a huge Marvel fan all my life, and have dabbled in both the business and collection side of Marvel collectibles. With the release of the relatively new Superheroes Marvel line, I'm returning to the LEGO world, as both a collector and investor. I'm glad to see such a helpful community of like minded people, and am looking forward to speculating, trading, and blowing our hard-earned money with you all!

Hello Brickpicker community. A short introduction: I am 29 years old and live in Germany, of course i am (again!) a huge Lego fan. Recently i thought about how to make a little extra money on ebay, looked around my home and thought "What of this stuff might me of any worth at all..." and then - Lego! So i climed up the attic, and there it was...*drool* So now i am mostly cleaning, sorting, sorting some more, etc. During that process i also researched Lego on the net, and i am so amazed at how much there is to see and learn. Wikis, trading sites, collections, and various other ressources. This is really cool, and the reason i stumbled across this site …
