General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by Vinetu,

LEGO Shop at Home is unavailable, so I figure a major update to the site is coming... What's your take on it, will we be able to execute complicated tasks of sorting from high- to low-priced items this time around? :-)

Hi everyone, I have been slowly but successfully selling for a few years. With a new job and new baby this year though I don't have as much time as I'd like to list and pack sets. I'm thinking of finding a buyer for a bunch of sets at once. Where is the best place to post to see if any Brickpickers are interested? Thanks!

I sold a set today for over $100 to a buyer that has feedback from the past, but nothing in the past year and a half. I have sent a follow up email and tried calling. Would you guys wait to hear back at a minimum before shipping or would you send anyway as I have to mail within 1 day? I don't see any issues as it appears the account has been active for a decade but don't think I am able to confirm their address has never been changed? Perhaps I should call Ebay customer support to confirm this. Thanks

I've been collecting LEGOs for around 10 years now, and I think it's finally time for me to sell them. I made a spreadsheet with all of the sets I have and their retail prices. It came out to be $4,500. I'm wondering how I could go about selling all of these. - They are all in large tubs, not assembled or sorted. - I probably only have 95% of the pieces of all of these sets. How would I go about selling these in bulk, and how much do you think I could get for them? Thank you, - brjedi

I just started getting ready to sell used Lego parts on Bricklink. It's very time consuming sorting everything out. Bought a 1kg bag on eBay and also my own unused parts. Any shortcut ideas? Who else does this? Any feedback would be great. I guess it gets quicker when my itinerary gets larger!

  6. So I recently purchased a large set (42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator) from Target clearance section. Came home and clearly the box had been opened so I needed to inventory. Double checked the quantities of numbered bags and accounted for everything, all numbered bags, instructions, motorized parts. Everything was sealed except for the motor / switch board piece and ONE numbered bag. The numbered bag that was opened has a slight cut up at the top so there were a few loose pieces in the box that had fallen out of the bag. I highly doubt I had found them all...and I'm sure there is ONE missing or something. So question is, how do I sell this... will all the bags sea…

  7. Dear fellow BP, I'd like to ask for your help please :-) I want to sell my LEGO 10188 Death Star (totally new unopened in its shipping box!) via ebay.com The problem is: Even though the item is located in the U.S. I have no clue about shipping there! (Because I'm from germany and have no clue about U.S. shipping ;-) ). I already googled and tried to compare but it just makes no sense to me whatsoever. But I'm sure there are people here who already have successfully sold and shipped their UCS Death Stars via ebay.com right? So please lend me a helping hand. What's the best way to ship it? What shoul I write in ebay and what price to select f…

So I screwed up taping my label to my padded envelope and now need to reprint it. I expected to be able to do this from my paypal activity page but I don't see any links that allow me to reprint the label. This is for a trade so no money was exchanged. Never mind. Option was in the email.

  9. Good morning, 1st time on this forum. I have a lot of my sons Lego (37 sets) unassembled, but all pieces included of various Ninjago, Lego Movie and City from 2012 - 2015. What is the best way for me to sell this? Thanks, Jon

  10. I've recently been granted my sales tax certificate for resale so that I can purchase items without paying sales tax. I've found that there are some stores that this is a great savings and/or avoidance of headaches, but not all stores accept it. Here's the list that I currently have of stores that have accepted my tax certificate: Walmart Amazon Best Buy Here's the list that I've tried and they just give me funny looks (they're used to seeing educational/non-profit tax exempt forms, but not resale) Toys R Us Target Barnes & Noble KMart Does anyone else have experience with this that could add to the list or make s…

Quick question for someone new to the Monthly build, hoping someone can shed some light. Obviously there is registration mid month for the monthly build. Couple questions; 1) What does the event look like? Meaning do you get your set and have to open it there and build? Or can you leave with it sealed etc.? 2) How do people on eBay who sell these have soooo many of them available? Do they have an inside source? Do they sign up for multiple stores? And is there a max you can get per event? Just curious, don't really want to get into that game... just confused how it works thanks

So after my issue with Amazon it's my wakeup call and I think it's time to diversify. Looking for some of the smaller outfits as an alternative to Amazon or eBay. I plan on listing here on these brick classifieds, but was looking at other options as well... casting a wide net with low fees. Anyone have any experience selling LEGO on eCrater, ebid, iOffer, Bonanza, or etsy? Any other good options out there outside of the big players?

Hey, I got a pretty ridiculous deal the other day. It occured to me it was a scam but the seller had 145 positive feedbacks. Can you fake that easily? Is it something I should look out for? Oh also if you get a tracking number is it definite you will receive the item or no. I know these might be stupid questions so sorry.

  14. I´m selling in European region since 2014. 2015 and early 2016 were my "golden years" and i made some bucks selling sets and parts as well. I keep track of all my sales (and purchases) in detail with adjustable statistics. And it appears to me that something has happend in July 2016. My sellings reduced to an all-time-minimum (maybe to 1/4 or less) of which i was selling the year before almost instantly! First i thought this is the regular summer low but it never recovered. My sellings at Christmas season 2016 were terrible and also January, which was always my best month, was very low in sets and parts i sold. My number of sets i listed for sale didn´…

I apparently won the buy box overnight on 40121 Easter, and Amazon sold more than I had. Maybe the velocity was too fast for the inventory tracker to keep up. Does anyone have 2 copies that they would be willing to drop ship for me tomorrow for $30/ea.? Please PM me if you can help. Thx.

Hi all, I recently picked up 6399- Airport Shuttle at an estate sale and just ordered the last of the missing pieces this week. This is my first attempt at reselling and I could use some advice. Would you recommend trying to sell the set locally first to avoid shipping and fees or should I list it online (i.e., Bricklink, eBay, Reddit, or Brickpicker) because this is an older and more expensive? Thanks!

Since i started selling Lego sets some years ago it always makes me feel kind of uncomfortable when i meet a buyer in person to hand over the Lego and he/she asks me "..and why are you selling this set/your collection?" or "Why don´t you need this set anymore?". It seems to me that about 9 out of 10 buyers asking me that question over and over again. I mean, they surely see that i´m selling more and just new sets when they´re looking at my account, and then we meet and they innocently/ironically ask me why i´m selling the set. Like they don´t have the balls to ask me if i´m just selling to make money with it or are they some kind of jealous? Any similar experien…

I've recently become interested in buying and re-selling lego sets. One of my first purchases was 9445 Fangpyre Truck Ambush which I picked up for $20 CAD. I recently saw it sell on ebay for about $60. Im just curious how people would expect it to be packed up. I was going to take it apart piece by piece and make sure it was complete. Is it suitable to put all the pieces in one large polybag, or should they be seperated into several? Maybe the minifigs in separate bags and everything else in one large bag? 9445-1: Fangpyre Truck Ambush

I am a seller on Bricklink with a small number of sales - one a month or so and have used paypal for payment. I have always in the past received a message from paypal with a subject like "<person" send you <amount> , and the body just provides the amount and any note. When looking at my paypal account there is (as expected) a deduction of around 3.4% from the payment. This week I sold a small item on Bricklink and got a different email from paypal with a subject line "You've got money" and a different content - but this time it shows a transaction fee in the email - and it a was 9.1% fee. Wow - on their fee information paypal say it is 0-2500 (or somethin…

  21. So I have been debating selling off pretty much my entire lego inventory. Baby on the way, I could use the space and the cash. I am willing to take a haircut possibly on the inventory, but don't really want to fire sale. What is the best route to bulk sell? I have talked to a few other dealers, tried craigslist etc but have had no luck. I am sure it might be easier to sell online but don't really want to deal with the shipping hassles that would come along with it so I am trying to sell it locally.

  22. After quite a few retirements over the last month or so, I was just interested to see what recently retired sets you guys would still buy at RRP? I was in TRU the other day and they had a few JW sets sitting at the back of the shelf, so I purchased for a quick turn around. I was also in John Lewis and did the same with a Mystery mansion. I had my quota for both but it was an easy opportunity to make a few extra quid. Maze seems another obvious choice but yet to stumble across any more of those. Architecture sets are performing OK if purchased at the right price, as is Wall-e, JW and SD range but would you still buy at RRP if you stumbled across any of them?
