General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by stackables,

Can you still print labels through paypal to Canada? I just completed a trade with a trader from another site and he never told me he was from Canada. I didn't find out until I looked at his return address. Can I still use paypal to print my labels and if so, is it still easy? thx

I was wondering if it is better to sell sets by them selves or to bundle them with other sametheme sets? For Example. I have a few Harry Potter polybags, Forbidden Forrest, Hagrid's hut and castle. At a monetary stand point. Would it be best to sell them individuality (when the time comes) or should I sell as a group. Or should I make small bundles such as a polybag, Forbidden Forrest, and Hagrid's Hut. If that makes sense.

  3. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere before, but the original shipments of the Stagecoach Escape had an error on the box. The Barret character was incorrect in the areas of the box where it shows the names of the character. The original, incorrect box showed Barret with a different head and a red bandana, which didn't match the character in the set and pictured on the stagecoach on the front of the box. New boxes have been shipped to LEGO stores now with the correct image for Barret. I doubt there will be much extra value in the error box, but I know some people are in to that kind of thing, including me. The new, corrected box art is below.

  4. Hey all. Has anyone ever purchased from this website? It seems a little shady. Thanks for your input.

I am in the infancy stages of building an investment portfolio of Lego sets, and my wife asked me last night if I had a plan for selling these sets once I decide to sell. The obvious response was "Ebay", but then I started poking around the Amazon site, and noticed they had a program for sellers that sell fewer than 40 items in a month. The cost on the front page said ".99 + other seller costs". Can anyone tell me from experience what the other "seller costs" are, and how they compare to Ebay's seller costs?

    Started by Guest,

I just got in an order from FAO Schwarz for 22 Grand Emporiums. Upon pulling them out of the LEGO boxes (2 per box), I feel like 15 of the 22 are not acceptable. They either have crushed corners, large creases in the box (random places), or even small incisions. Am I being too picky? What is your standard? Normally, the actual set box itself holds up quite well when shipped in LEGO boxes, but these didn't. I am on the phone with FAO now to get the damaged items exchanged, but what a hassle. How do you handle this personally?

I could have sworn someone already asked this before but couldn't find it. Here goes anyhow. There are hundreds of sellers on Bricklink that list individual pieces from sets for sale, and it is true that not every set appreciates in value (some even devalue), so fellow Brickvestors my question is thus. Is it possible to make a profit that at least covers the original retail cost of a set by parting it out?

  9. Anyone had this? I am selling my 9470 Shelob Attacks sets. Sold 3 so far, on the third one buyer says it has 4 parts missing and cannot be built. He's asked for a refund. I've asked which 4 pieces are missing after sending him the inventory list from Brickset.

  11. I've been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of some great customer service recently - some not so surprising, like my local Lego store, but one site in particular I would never have come across if it wasn't for my recently rediscovered love of Lego. I thought we could have a thread where we share our great experiences, and maybe help fellow BrickPickers use a store with a degree of confidence! So, my local Lego store. It's so obvious, I'm not sure if it's worth bothering, but I wanted to say much kudos to the member of staff who smooshed his way through some 20-25 mini figure packets to help me hunt down the Waiter I was looking for (I have some plans to turn him …

  13. A buyer left this feedback: Toys is new, but some box have bug. I don't know what kind of bug and why there was bug. or if there is bug at all. The toys are brand new sealed. I am a small ebay seller (with around 150 positive feedback). Even though this person gives me a positive feedback, but a negative comment. I am afraid it will affect future buyers to buy from me. What can I do about it?

Hey guys, I'm new here but I have been wanting to sell my sets for awhile now. I have LOTS of trains related pieces, tracks and several train sets from when when I was younger. I have a question before I try to sell. I do not have the boxes for any of the sets but all the sets are still assembled, would it best for me to leave them assembled and sell them or just break them apart and sell as a bulk?

So a week ago my wife and i decided we wanted a project to do for the upcoming weekend and we randomly stumbled upon a lego set. We were on lego.com and found the largest set was the tower bridge. So i hopped on amazon and bought it because im a prime member. It arrived and then saturday came along and we got to work. We were done around midnight, we basically built non stop until we were done and we had a great time. Now we used to do large jigsaw puzzles together 3000+ pieces but we had more fun building the bridge. Its now Sunday and i decide to look and see if there are other lego sets similar in size or even larger for us to do and thats when i came across th…

Went to USPS to ship my first sale. I used a walmart box and the guy wouldn't give me the option to ship priority. I had to pay $40 for express (lol) or $10 for ground. I went with ground and contacted my buyer to let them know what was up. The cost calculator doesn't seem to agree with this nor does their FAQ. For future reference should I be able to ship priority mail with my own boxes when their boxes are too small?

  18. Hello fellow brickheads! My wife and I are approaching our 20th anniversary and we've come to the conclusion that kids are not in the cards for us. Why would I reveal something so personal in my first post on this site? Of course, it's because I'm about to sell off my precious collection that's doing nothing but taking up space. I'm thinking of ripping off the band-aid quickly by selling each theme collection at once, and space is by far the majority of my collection (my brickfolio isn't done yet, I'm still adding). All sets are used, most are 100% complete (of course I would detail which ones aren't), I have no original boxes, and some have no printed instructi…

  19. Long story short, my wife and I are moving across the country and the amount of Lego I have is enough for a small truck...basically way too much to realistically take and the money can certainly help with moving costs. We won't be doing this until early next year, fortunately. I have always collected (aka hoarded) various sets and have never sold anything. Are there any suggestions / ideas / advice of offloading a lot of this stuff, sooner than later? I really don't have the desire to play the ebay/amazon game and even if I broke even on stuff, I'm fine; it's more of a matter of getting it out of here than trying to make profits at this point. I can ta…

I am a new member of brickpicker.com looking to get into bulk lots. However, I am having a hard time finding good ones. Any advice on how or where to find good lego bulk sets would be highly appreciated! I am looking for bulk sets with minifigs not ones that have already been sorted and minifigs removed.

Has anyone ever had an issue where fed ex tracking says your shipment was delivered but you never received it? I ordered 5 VW Campers from Walmart. They were delivered in 2 boxes, one with 3 campers and 1 with 2. There are two separate tracking numbers. Both say the boxes were delivered. Problem is I never got the box with the 2 campers. Going to be calling Fed Ex. Just wondering if anybody has had this issue before and, if so, what the outcome was.

We brought this up in another thread and realized that not many people probably know about this so I figured I would make a dedicated post for it. The usual fee for processing your transactions on PayPal is 2.9%. If you process more than $3000 per month you can apply for a lower rate of 2.5% and if you do more than $10,000 per month in sales you can get a 2.2% rate. The application for upgrading takes less than a minute. Here is some more info: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/merchant-fees

  25. Hi all, I recently bought a bunch of used Technic sets for a good price with the intention of flipping them. I've taken them apart to clean where necessary and to make 100% sure all parts are present. Now I was wondering whether it's better to list them as assembled or not. Personally I would rather build a set myself if I buy one but I see a lot of assembled sets being sold. I guess the advantage of selling an assembled set is that the pictures look better than sorted bags but it would take extra time to rebuild them of course. What are your experiences regarding this? Do assembled sets sell faster or for more money because of the convenience factor? Or isn't it much of …
