I placed an order last night and got lucky enough to take advantage of a system glitch that provided me with free shipping. I talked with LEGO Shop at Home today to see why I could not order more with free shipping and she told me that the system thought I was ordering from a store. Lucky me! The main reason for this post is that she told me free shipping starts on the 9th, right after double VIP ends.

We've discussed parting out a set for profit, and also about listing a set with the minifigures removed, but what about the opposite? My question may be more for builders than collectors but here goes. Have you ever bought a set for parts and only listed the minifigures to sell? On some sets I'm okay with having more than one of a character (Troopers, Soldiers, Knights, etcetera), but some have very unique ones (Mace Windu, Yoda, so on) that at best I'm okay with two. For the most part, I buy a lot of sets just for the parts. Characters are great but, as I said, I don't always need that many of certain characters. At the least I was thinking that if I wer…

Not sure if this applicable to anyone here, but I was just now eating Oreos (Reduced Fat, unfortunately!) and reading the Chicago Tribune. Front page article says that the state of Illinois is thinking about charging sales tax on online businesses. Now this may not affect very many of us, because most of us didn't have $1 million or more of sales last year. Never the less, what ticks me off the most is that the state governors are claiming that they "[are] not talking about imposing a new tax. Not at all." Lordy, sales tax was around before the internet, so since it wasn't included in the initial bill/law, then it of course is a new tax! Isn't that the reason why we sell …

Anyone here sell vintage legos on etsy? With a 20 cents item fee and 3.5% cut, it looks pretty good.

I rarely ask for advice on buying Lego, but today I got $75 worth of rewards Coupons from Toys R Us, And they are 3-$15, and 3-$10 ones. They say Valid in store or online through 5/31/13 and I can use them all at one time, or split them up. Now some may say how did I get so much, well I spent a few grand a while back, when I got 20 Friends 3185, etc. Now I could get 2 of the 8110 buy one get one half price and use the $75 coupon, so get both for $260.00, or 4 Vampires Castle for $76.00 each, Or 4 Helm's Deep for $92 each any other suggestions. I've asked a few people on BL where they get such a massive inventory from and no one will share their supplier (as expected). Does anyone know where these sellers are getting their 500+ minifigure inventories from? For example, one guy was selling 500 Michaelangelos, and not to leave out his 100+ inventories of other minifigures from Hobbit and Superheroes. Does anyone know?

Good morning, I am new to this site and I am looking for some advice. I have a very large collection of Legos that I am slowly moving out of storage and would like to sell them in bulk. Growing up I had a double deck lego city 16" x 16" up top and 20" x 16" below, entire city was built on roadplates and baseplates - bottom city had multiple trains. I was in Barnes and Noble today to look at their inventory after somebody mentioned they hold on to older sets longer and I was amazed at the amount of older sets they had in stock. Granted, all of it was garbage from an investment standpoint. They had the following from Pharaoh's Quest 9 boxes of Scorpion Pyramid (7327) 4 boxes of Rise of the Sphinx (7326) And they had a lot of Atlantis stuff 3 boxes of City of Atlantis (7985) 2 boxes of Guardian of the Deep (8058) And some stuff from Alien Conquest which is more common 7 boxes of Alien Mothership (7065) 11 boxes of UFO Abduction (7052) All of it was still retail. I just started to ship my minifigures on eBay and when I was about to print out the shipping label, I found out that it costed $1.69 for an envelope, that held less than an ounce of Legos inside. I thought this was way over the top, so I put a "Forever" stamp on it and shipped it out. A couple days later, I received the envelope back in the mail with an arrow to the stamps and the words "Incorrect Postage, add $0.20", so the next morning, I sent it out with the extra $0.20 on it. I ordered something on bricklink March 6 from England it, and says it has shipped but i still haven't received it yet. I don't know how much it weighed but it was $5.50 for shipping. How long does it usually take for something to get to the U.S. from England?

May be purchasing a used, partially built Eiffel Tower. I already know it's missing the baseplates---are there other key pieces I should be looking out for that may end up costing me some $ tryig to buy off Bricklink?

So I went on bricklink and wanted to buy some more jet packs for my clones, found a guy that had ten for $.99 a piece so I ordered them. As someone that's a little more interested in building than investing, I decided to take the Craigslist plunge a couple weeks back and finally saw a listing I was compelled to buy, a kid selling a 25 pound tub of assorted pieces for 100 bucks. The transaction was a good experience (rare for CL), apparently there was another buyer but they backed out. Hi, Anyone have any tips on cheap international shipping for larger lego sets from the UK. I have lots of large sets that I will probably sell in the future on ebay but the international postage/shipping costs seem prohibitively expensive and therefore limiting my market. Any advice or people with experience would be appreciated? Also for those of you in USA, Australia, or continental Europe, what would you pay for shipping and still be happy with the price?
