General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by gorbasho,

Hi guys, I wanted to ask for your opinion on a claim one of my eBay buyers is making. I am a newer seller so I don't have a lot of experience with problematic sales. I got a message from them this morning asking when the item would arrive. I replied with a link to the tracking, showing it had been delivered on Saturday. They then replied with this message: I just received the package today in the mail along with a letter from the post office, seems the lego got damaged during shipping. The package is empty and I believe they sent the damaged item back to you so you should be receiving it sometime this week. I don't know what that means for me. Do I get a refund sinc…

$200 for a 20lbs lot. Has 3 large grey base plates as well, Briefly went through the lot and seen about 30 mini-figs. Didn't have any boxes or much manuals. OK I think I've overpaid for this, but at the time i thought it was a good deal and besides the kid wanted to sell his Lego to buy an Xbox. Will post some pics once I get it sorted somewhat.

  3. So I thought I would try and start a thread for settings for label printers people use - how to set them up and how to get started. A mod can add if others have settings and other Label printers people can use. Dymp 450/Dymo 400/ Turbos There are two parts. When you go to print the labels (like when you are purchasing them - if you already did, you have to void and start over - extremely stupid) click on the "printer and label receipt preferences". You want to go down to "Supported Label Printers" and then select Dymo Labelwriter 400 2.4x7. The second part is in the actual dymo printing preferences inside your PC. If you have a Windows OC, just go …

I am a new member of brickpicker.com looking to get into bulk lots. However, I am having a hard time finding good ones. Any advice on how or where to find good lego bulk sets would be highly appreciated! I am looking for bulk sets with minifigs not ones that have already been sorted and minifigs removed.

  5. I bought this lot for 20$ at a Yard Sale and want to sell it on Ebay but I want to know what the most efficient way to sell them is. I roughly separated them by color but its not 100%. Should I separate the minifigs and sell them separately? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Edit: There are definately more than 30 minifigures

I'm 30. Played with legos till my early teens then forgot about them. Then the movie came out and now I want legos. But since they are so expensive and since I don't like to let people just walk with my money I'm almost certain I'm not buying retail, esp. not after seeing the prices at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, etc. I'll likely search the internet until I find a decent lego let. But I've been at this for a week and still have to find a good deal. On amazon, for instance, there are a bunch of people trying to sell legos by the pound. But there is so much that is wrong with that business model that I don't even know where to start with my list of complaints: what i…

  7. The reason I ask this is because my sales have dropped off to almost nothing for the last week. I don't understand it. I am a Top Rated Plus Seller, and have around 40+ active listings at all times. I used to do around $50-$70 a day on an average day, and over $100 on good days. Lately I have had two days where I didn't sell a single thing. This hasn't happened to me in several months! Has anyone else been experiencing similar trends? I am not necessarily worried yet, but this is very odd. I can't figure out what is causing this. Any thoughts???

Was hoping to get some advice from some veteran sellers. I am relatively new to collecting and probably won't begin selling much until next year. I have been logging my purchases into brickpicker and exporting to an excel spreadsheet for now. I include the sales tax in my cost of goods when I log my purchases. Is this the best way to keep track for now? I am not ready to fork over the money for quickbooks or any software like that yet. Also, I have been selling DVDs and other misc. items from around the house to get my ebay feedback up until I am ready to start selling lego. I have not sold any of these items for a profit. As long as I sell a few lego sets this ye…

  9. So I here people mention this a lot and I totally understand - 1. Frustrated with Idiot buyers 2. TIred of going to the post office everyday. 3. Want to smash your tape dispenser 4. Done with printing labels and paying stupid USPS inflated prices. 5. Done with USPS losing packages And more and more. So I thought I would share what is helping me through this on the off chance it might help someone else. I am a candid guy - probably too open sometimes - but in January I was really really struggling with this. December burned me out some and made me realize that I was frustrating myself to much. This was complicated by the fact that …

So I recently placed two orders with amazon and walmart.com. Both have tracking that says that the packages were delivered but I never received anything. Do I have any recourse? The carrier on both instances was the USPS...just wondering if any other's had a similar experience and what the best way to get results is. Thanks!

There are a few sets that I want, but I am curious if there might be better deals on these to come later this year? 75017 Duel on Geonosis (haven't seen it less than $36) 75020 Jabba Sail Barge (haven't seen it cheaper than $75-$80) 75021 Republic gunship (Some Walmarts at $79) 76006 Iron Man Seaport battle (I'm assuming this might be Walmart/target summer clearance?) 6860 Batcave (will this last until Christmas?) 9516 Jabba's palace (My local Wal-mart has 5, but still at $119 and I check the app every day) Thanks for any input. I wasn't keeping up last year during the best deals like black Friday/cyber Monday and wonder if any of these will be as av…

  13. I'm going to Florida Legoland and will also drop by Downtown Disney Lego store next week. What should I look for that's not easily found elsewhere? Legoland also gives 10% discount for annual ticket holder (which I don't have, and will cost $100 if I decide to buy one). Any advice is appreciated.

  14. My Lego orders from LEGO Shop at Home Canada are delivered by FedEx and more often than not the shipping boxes are banged up on a corner or squished at one end, etc. Anyone else have this problem? It's so bad you almost have to just laugh about it! I don't have problems with any other shippers that I use from other stores, so not sure how to change it. It would be really nice if other shipping options/other shippers were available on LEGO Shop at Home. I'm reluctant to report or complain to Lego because I don't want to get anybody in trouble, but how else can it be changed?!

Hello This is somehow an existential question. In ebay do you prefer Free or payed shipping? Do you feel somehow tricked by Free shipping? Regards

  17. I don't do a ton of bulk/parting out. I have about 15 lbs I have separated by color. Trying to figure out how to price them in color lots - I know bulk in general goes from $6-$8/lb depending on quality/type, but should I be pricing different colors higher? Follow up Q - would you bother separating every color out or no? As an example I have about 2 lbs of brown, but with some tan, light brown, etc, mixed in. I know stuff like sand green can go for higher, just not sure about others. Any thoughts from the bulk sellers out there appreciated!

Anyone have advice on this? I'm referring to individual bricks/pieces. I'd be a little scared to just put them in a bubble mailer but it seems like that's really the only way to go. Used the search feature and didn't find anything. Sorry if I am duplicating.

  21. So I had a question as I am trying to finish getting things together for Tax season. I went through my sales and everything and calculated it up. Its a little bit lower than Paypals 1099K number. However I know this is a gross amount which doesn't take out refunds, credits, etc. for all sorts of other stuff. How does everyone add these up? Is there a section in Paypal where you can see all the categories like How much you received in Chargebacks? Or Reversals etc.?

Im looking to sell some sets and manuals on the german (dutch, french) ebay. So it would be very helpful to get the names of the sets translated. I tried google, but cant find a site like brickpicker or bricksets in german. You can find some of the names on the lego site but its slow and only works with new sets.

When and how would you buy them and split the benefits of both promos ??? More man hunters or double points ... I say man hunters . Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  24. Ive seen posts on here about where to sell lego's and I've noticed it is harder to interact on here. I came upon a website that looks like it is still being built but is up and running. From what I see it has an auction however it isn't completed yet. It also looks as if it is a facebook for collectors of some type. Maybe a new avenue to sell and buy collectables. if you want to check it out www.nerdinout.com.

  25. I have a 16 oz scale that I have been using forever and I love it. Whenever I had a larger package I would run to the PO weigh it and come home to print the label. Was never really and issue as I normally make 2 trips to the PO everyday. I am about to start selling some LEGO product and these little pieces weigh a ton! I am finally going to take the plunge and get a decent scale to sell larger items. I looked at Amazon, which of these would you recommend?
