General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by X1Viper,

Hi all, I am new to this site, and I've never sold Lego before, but I have a decent sized collection with minifigs and a rare set and I'd like to know what the community thinks it's worth. Also, should I sell them all together or sell the bulk separately? What's the best strategy? I was thinking all together for $1000 but could be way off in either direction. Also how much should I value the Yoda at? Let me know what you think, thank you! Here's what I've got: Many retired sets, including the rare Star Wars Yoda, set #7194-1. Nothing newer than 2002 or so, some much older. Lots of Star Wars, aquanauts, police, firefighters, pirates, space shuttle, and lots of …

Hey guys, Quick question regarding Bricklink. I've bought a bunch of bins over the last few months and have gone through and sorted a good portion of them back into sets, but inevitably some are missing a handful of pieces and unfortunately some aren't available from lego any longer. I've made lists of all the parts I need but when I search bricklink its hard to find someone that has more then a few parts on the list. Is there a better way to do this or can anyone recommend a dealer that may have a vast selection of parts? Thanx

  3. I picked up a couple 40220 - Mini London Bus over the weekend that I was hoping to flip on Bricklink, but apparently the set is still pending approval. I'm relatively new to this, so I've never watched for a brand new set on Bricklink before. How long does it usually take for them to approve the set so I can list my items?

Is anyone else having issues with their paypal account? For the past two days the transactions on my activity page will not fully load. Only the last 10 or so transactions show and then the last line says "unknown" Called paypal and they said it was a known issue for some accounts. They suggested clearing cookies/cache - did not help. They also suggested using a different device, which I did, but the same issue appears across all devices.

  6. Hey guys Does anyone know if these are starting to be faked? I ask because I am able to purchase pretty much every mini figure and block head at a stupid price. I am new to Lego and am not knowledgeable with forgeries. So I guess my question is do these fakes exist? if so is there any way to tell while the characters are sealed in box? Thanks

I was wondering if others have had to deal with this. I keep getting a message from paypal asking for my social security # and have yet to provide it. This is the newest message I received: We're asking for your tax ID number due to new IRS rules. Your tax ID number is one of these: - Your Social Security number - Your Individual Tax Identification Number - Your Employer Identification Number We'll use your tax ID number to send tax Form 1099-K to you and the IRS when the payments you receive exceed both of these milestones in a calendar year: Has anyone given their SS# to paypal or dealt with this? I don't sell enough for this and already p…

I have decided to dabble in selling Lego. I've decided that I will do exclusively sealed box sets and may part out a minifig or two if I feel like it could do well, and then sell the rest of the set. My question is, for what I want to do is eBay or bricklink better? I have looked into both and can't decide. eBay has the advantage of having a larger customer base and easier shipping while Bricklink charges much smaller fees and has a smaller but more dedicated buyer list. Advice? If eBay is the winner should I try to stick with auction or a buy it now? Last question-How do I determine the shipping cost? This wouldn't be as much of a problem on Bricklink since I w…

  9. (if this isn't posted in the proper forum, sorry!...not a clue where else this should go) ===== Once per year I, along with a handful of others, gather various toys, etc. for local children's hospitals, programs, etc. We do not get paid for any of this and all of our time is donated. However, they do allocate certain funds each year for various products. I have been asked to get "as much jungle sets as possible" and the funds I have left for this fiscal year is 400. Boxes can be damaged but bags must be sealed. I have to use these funds by 7/30 or it goes back into the fund pool. I'm in no way looking for a handout but probably can't go paying crazy pre…

Please bare with the long explanation. So I just got into Lego in January when I built a UCS Slave I. I then bought a MF, an IST, a VW T1, and a Mini within the next 3 months. This hobby was getting expensive, so I decided to start buying/selling to satisfy my need to build and bankroll my personal collection, not for long-term investment. So far I've sold a Classic Mr. Freeze that my buddy put on his EBay. I have about $1,500 into 2 bulk lots and other new and used sets. Been using BL and CL so far b/c I'm reticent to use EBay based on all the horror stories on here and eating a hundred dollar set would be a significant blow to my small enterprise So I had a guy c…

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with USPS lately? I have already have one package go missing and of course usps can't do anything about it and now I have another package that hasn't moved in 3 days. The latter package is suppose to go to NC but it is still stuck in Detroit. Starting to get concerned.

  16. I would have thought that assembling them to take a picture for Ebay would be the way to go but I'm seeing that some people think this is a big no no. If you sell new minifigures on ebay what do you recommend? Assembled? Unassembled? Assemble for the photo then break down afterwards? It seems like such a minute detail but I want to get this right. I know there'll be some for one way and some for another - I just want to get an idea of the majority. Thanks! Oh - and if it has accessories - bagged seperately or with the minifig? Its all so complicated!

First time posting on here after picking up a few star wars sets and of course the tumbler. Maybe this has been asked countless times already. But just wondering how long you hold a set for or what triggers you to sell or what ever the lingo is. flip is it?

  20. Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere - I did try search function, strangely nothing came up for "netbricks" (I haven't tried "Pley" yet. So those are services that rents out LEGO sets. I have dozens of Friends theme sets (used). All pieces are put back into ziplocks, and they then are put back into box among with instruction booklets (which I see is mentioned as a requirement on Netbricks). And the Netbricks FAQ also says I can ship my sets to them for free? I think this might be the way to go for me - anyone have good/bad experiences doing this? The reason why I'm considering this is I find putting sets up on auctions (taking photos, creating …

  22. Just got a letter from Tesco regarding their double boost they do with club card vouchers. As we know Tesco have been hit hard with all the other lower priced supermarkets, so I imagine thats the reason for this. Come this May and June 2016 - It will be the last time Tesco double the value of your vouchers. So £5 becomes £10 etc. Useful of course if you buy LEGO from there. So get those purchases in between the 16th May and 26th June

My son has sadly outgrown his Lego collection. We have listed it on eBay but it's not having much interest. I'm having people offer me silly amounts like £200 but knowing how much I paid for it I cannot let it go for such a low price. Any idea how much I could get for it? I will put the eBay listing number in the comments if anyone could help me.

Browsed a few pages of the Buy&Sell forum and couldn't find an appropriate thread to post this in.... if a Mod sees a fitting place please feel free to move the post. Last weekend I picked up a bulk SW lot on CL. Spent the last week running the sets through Bricklink Inventory lists and verifying any missing parts. They're all older SW sets. Included are some of the original micro fighters, called Mini back then. From the sets of instructions, I've got parts of two series, but neither series is complete. [4484, 4485, 4487] is a 3/4 complete series, and I've got [4490, 4491] which is 1/2 of a complete series. Blah blah blah... what the heck am I waffling o…
