My 6-year old son would really like to start getting into the train sets. This is a theme in Lego I do not know much about. What would you recommend in the $200-$300 range? (This would be his only big Christmas gift.) He builds at the level of a teen, so I'm not worried about complexity. (He did tower bridge recently to give you context.) I have access to reasonably priced 3677, but I'm not crazy about it. Opinions? And what add-ons would you recommend? Eg track, station, etc... thank you you for your help!

  5. Hi folks - My family & some others are raising money this year to build a well in Africa. We have a big goal, so we have been dong some creative things as a way to help raise the money. This month we are hosting an event that will include a raffle, and I plan to donate some Lego sets to the cause. Which brought up some questions: - In this case, since I'm not giving the sets directly to a non-profit , how I would track this giving since I won't have a receipt of any kind for tax purposes? Do I just record it as a loss to my overall profits for the year? - What do I use for a donation amount here? Do I just use my cost paid? Do I use current market val…

Hi! I'm a new member; this is my first post. Does anyone know about the Lisa Lamb set (3654) from the 1980s? My sister had the set, which I distinctly remember, came in a red suitcase. Yet I can't find a set that has a suitcase. Can anyone help?

Are sealed basic sets from the 80s worth anything? I the one I am looking at is not listed in the guide and there are no active sellers on bricklink (new or used)

Hey gang, Question for you all. I have never bought or tried any of the Mindstorms products. My son just turned 7 and I think would be interested in starting to learn this summer. So wondering... - How easy is the programming? Would he be able to do simple stuff? He is reading pretty well and can navigate a mouse and keyboard a bit. - Would past versions be easy to use? Like would a Mindstorms 2.0 still have working software? We have a Windows 7 desktop with a DVD drive, so assuming we could just install older software. Any thoughts appreciated. He is really interested in robots and building apps so I'd like to start on an older/cheaper version before spending on the late…

Is there a place where I can download set information? Set number, Year, Name, RRP, I would love to get the amazon ASIN, URLs, etc too, but that's a pipe dream I think.

  10. Started by CosmicSpeed,

I have amassed quite a collection of the Speed Champions series vehicles and think it would be cool to have a transporter to display them on. I have seen a few really nice custom builds, but I was wondering the best auto-transporter set to go for. I really like 6753 and the included cars seems a very close scale to the SC vehicles. If I had the inventory of bricks at home (I bet I have the required inventory at my parents house form childhood) I would love to build a custom model so any suggestions of that would be appreciated. However as I increase my collection of automotive themed (typically racing) Lego & Technic, adding a transporter of some sort would…

  12. I uploaded a number of sets into my Brickfolio. The price many of the sets (all used) showed significantly lower that the values I'm seeing on Bricklink. One set is the Ferry set 1998-1. Bricklink has two for sale for $200 and $224 and ebay has none for sale or that have sold recently. Why does my Brickfolio show the current value of $27? Are these prices solely based on Ebay sold? What if none have sold on BL or Ebay? Can I manually enter a price? David

  15. Hey folks! Not sure where else to post this question, so figured this was as safe a spot as any. I recently scored what I think it a Black Seas Barracuda that was an unadvertised "hidden treasure" in a CL lot I scored. Now, even though it doesn't have the sails, I'm fairly certain it's a Barracuda due to the huge brown hull, yellow "trim" pieces, 4 cannons, and red cannon doors. Now, here's what I need help with - I'm not sure which version of it I have. The original version (6285) or the re-issued version (10040). Is there an easy way to find out which it is?

Hi, I have a quick question about selling my sets - it looks like the Trading / Want Ads / For Sale forum is quite active, but also I've seen links to www.brickclassifieds.com. Which is best? Can I use both?

  18. Looking for the head brick which could replace the yellowish white Lewis Hamilton head from my newly purchased 75883. I''m open for any suggestion, which head could eventualy replace the default head of Lewis Hamilton from this set since the original one is so inaccurate. Someone suggested me NBA heads but their faces looks amusing and won't match with the other figs from this theme/set, I have currently FInn from Takodana set but he is completely shaved and Lando Carlisiani is wearing moustaches. Does anyone know from where I can source head which might be the closest to the actual Lewis Hamilton face? Many Thanks.

  19. Was looking at the T1 on SAH UK and saw that under the price was a drop-down box giving different numbers (6144520 & 6039709), the latter of which showed the T1 as being retired. http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Volkswagen-T1-Camper-Van-10220 Does anyone know what these mean? Thanks /// Paul

With brickfolio all but dead, what are investors using to keep track of their sets and to get updated pricing. I have seen various options on Bricklink, Brickset and even some newer apps. I am just wondering what the community is using. There is always the option of going old school with a spreadsheet and manually check current values (too much work.)

So I see a lot of nasty Mega in here. Only manuals that link to anything decent is for Destiny's Bounty and the Gallardo. Wondering if any one thinks this is worth while to shoot an offer, and for how much? Hi, I was wondering if there were any ways to check stock of LEGO online. Whether there is a third party site that displays for many different stores, or if each store has a nice way? I live in the Midwestern United States, so my question applies to Walmart, Target, Meijer, Kroger(I know some of their superstores have LEGO), B&N, and Walgreens/CVS. P.S. I am asking because of Minifigure Series 18's disappearance.

I'm a DC Lego investor and a City investor to, but what do you think of the Lego batman movie sets as an investment? I have a five foot batcave, so I LOVE DC, and I'm looking at some of the Lego batman movie sets, and I bought some of them, I do however want to here your thoughts on the batman sets.
