I am in Virginia from now until late next week. Went to a couple of TRU's tonight. They had all of the new City and Castle sets, and I was surprised to see that they already have the new LOTR sets. The LOTR Pirate Ship set is really cool looking. So is the new Coast Guard boat. Of course the prices were outrageous. I went to the one in Fair Lakes and it's one of the ones that has even extreme prices for TRU. The one in Manassas was a little better, but still the prices were outrageous. I did grab a couple of things on the BOGO but had a few TRU $5 off coupons so the price ended up being way below retail.

Last year, TRU.ca boost a lot of their prices, but now it seem that a lot of sets are MSRP (Most of Hard to find item and Star Wars) That's a really good thing!

so... i was on the hunt for ***.I. Joe Kre-o figs and then got swooped up by some lego sets that i hadn't seen in my local TRU's.. hawthorne was the store that had alot of what i was looking for. BUT...what i didn't realize or know was that there is a caveat with shopping at hawthorne...they are an experimental "bump up" store where they actually charge more for EVERYTHING... so everything i had brought for purchase was marked up. i didn't understand why this was the case and immediately i was greeted by a super with a really bad attitude. i inquired about why the prices were different and i even produced a receipt from a different TRU displaying the differences in…

Are they worth spending 60$ at Toys r Us to get? Im new to collecting, and just wondering if these will have any collector value in the future. I picked up vol 1 last week, but they had a sale buy one set get 1 40% off. So I picked up 2 Duo Funhouses (6857), but this week with no sales I cant justify picking up vol 2. I think my money would better be spent on retired sets on ebay. Any veteran insight would be appreciated.

I was scrolling through the items TRU has listed as exclusive and came across the 7939 train. Pulled it up on BL which shows that both Target and Walmart carry it (which they do), but Amazon does not. Is this simply an error by TRU? Follow up question: thoughts as the lifespan of this set since it has been around 2010?

Apparently there is a TRU Express/Outlet at a nearby outlet mall. I haven't been up there in a while but don't recall seeing it, maybe it's new? Anyone else have one of these near them? Guessing they won't have Lego, but wondering if others have experience.

I received an e-mail coupon for 20% off one regular-priced item at TRU for Sat Feb 2 only. Anyone have a suggestion as to the best set to use this on?

My local TRU has phangpyre mechs for 18 bucks each.......sweet deal considering the market value on this set is 40 bucks! Any normal AIOL would clear the shelves with this deal. How many did I scoop up you ask???? 0!!!!! I refuse to give TRU another dime of my money due to their poor bussiness/shipping practices!! *AIOL = adult investor of LEGO....... Hello all, I just wanted to get a general feeling on how many Brickpickers are supportive of TRU. I believe many of us don't like shopping for sets there, but some of you do. I'm on the fence about it because I've bought only once from them and it was almost a complete disaster. (The box was beat up so badly during shipping that it caused holes in the Lego box.)They refunded my money and let me keep the set. I've never bought from them again because I almost always found better deals on Amazon and I've also heard more about TRU's bad practices. (Shipping, eBay, etc.) Let me know what you guys think in the poll/comments.Thanks.

Stopped by a nearby TRU today (Redwood City, CA) and they were offering $20 of $75+ for Lego sets that weren't "Hot Price", Castle, or Lone Ranger sets. Boo! But, they also had a $10 gift card for $50+ purchases. The clerk told me they could be stacked. Unfortunately I was in a hurry, so I didn't have much time to look around. I did notice that they had the Millennium Falcon (7965) for $139.99, which actually seems to be MSRP?? I scanned it and it scanned at 119.99. Combined with the $10 gift card seems like a not-too-shabby deal. Toys r us is running a promo for a free coastguard seaplane with the purchase of a $20 lego set. I already bought some Golden Dragons for $24.99 and got the promo. Not the greatest polybag, or even close to the VW, but for only $25 qualifying purchase I like it. Not sure if there is another topic on this (I did check).....also if a mod can add a link so the Mack's could get the credit that'd be great too.

Does Toys R Us jack up the prices of Lego sets before they run this Buy one Get one Half off? It sounds too good to be true.
