Toys R Us

Talk about Toys R Us... Good or Bad

  1. Started by dday0606,

Been a couple weeks since the last real sale at TRU. Anything people are targeting tomorrow with the 20% sale + 10% CC + 8% reward point + GC combo? My local TRU's have jacked up the price of both Star Wars and DC sets 10% so I find it difficult to get excited about sets from those lines. They didn't raise the Friends sets though and the little animal sets (41087 Bunnies, 41088 Puppies, 41089 Foal) caught my eye. However, having boys at home I have no exposure what-so-ever to the Friends line.

  2. Why is it so hard to find old lego "hard to find" sets at toysrus, while target, amazon and even toysrus.ca, have plenty in stock? any thoughts on this?

I've been using the rewards certificates on amazon kindle gift cards for the past year without any issues. Tried tonight again with the new rewards certificate and they wouldn't work. Saw the exclusion of gift cards on the back. I don't remember but does anyone know if this exclusion has always been present on old rewards?

  4. As long as target or toys r us does not have this set as there Black Friday Exclusive looks like this set will be a great investment. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12785054&locale=en_US

  5. I was really excited to bring my boys to go to the Lego Movie build today at TRU. I had called ahead a few days ago and asked what to expect. I was told the kids would be building their lego sets in stores and then able to take them home. They usually run out fast, so to expect a line. So I went early with my kids and found there to be no line, nor did one gather (which was just fine with me). But rather than actually have the kids build the sets there, they just handed them a bag and instructions and sent them home. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with that, and my 5 year old kept asking me where/when he could build his new set. Do all stores do …

  6. When you go into Toys R Us to the Lego section it's like going to the Gentleman's Club. You are overwhelmed by the choice and selection. You drool and salivate. So many to choose from...you want them all! So much more than Walmart or Target or any where else (save a Lego Store). There are so many to choose from.......and all so beautiful. You make your choice(s) then head to the checkout aisle. Once at the register it's like coming home late and your wife (or GF) sees the lipstick on your collar then knees you in the groin.....several times. The prices at Toys R Us suck the wind right out of you like a genital hit. Even with a BOGHO the blow is barely softened.

Can someone tell me why TRU thinks this is acceptable, and to charge over MSRP on top of this? I hope TRU goes out of business soon!

  8. If you dont' know, from septemberish to October I think it is, you get 10% back on all toysrus purchases (with some exclusions) into a pot for up to a $100 gift card for the christmas season. Plus, you still get your normal TRU rewards. This is one of the few TRU promotions that is really pretty good. Well, I got on and checked today as I was purchasing some video games. Yeah, I already earned that $100. Plus another $35 in rewards coupons. Hmmm. I may have a problem. Anyone else getting close?
