General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by seaweedsm7,

Hi i just sold some item and i just want to ask if i can use usps media mail option even though its not a book?

  2. Started by Darth_Raichu,

Apparently, 16 states, 2 climate organizations, and the UAW are suing USPS to stop it from getting new delivery trucks. https://autos.yahoo.com/usps-sued-states-climate-orgs-160700437.html?.tsrc=daily_mail&uh_test=2_15 Everyone can argue about the environmental impacts, but all I see is higher costs of shipping going forward

  3. USPS prices increased today so I thought it may be useful for members to share how they are handling it with regard to selling on ebay. The biggest one for those parting out sets or selling from bulk lots will be first class package increasing from $1.69 to $1.93. I offered free shipping until I got my feedback to a respectable level, then moved to charging for shipping. Will you continue to offer free shipping? Or will you move to charging buyers for shipping charges? Please don't turn this thread into another USPS bashfest, it's not very useful and I think we have enough of them.

  4. Started by stackables,

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with USPS lately? I have already have one package go missing and of course usps can't do anything about it and now I have another package that hasn't moved in 3 days. The latter package is suppose to go to NC but it is still stuck in Detroit. Starting to get concerned.

Do most use Priority as it seems almost the same if not a little cheaper when shipping ? Small items excluded. I'm shipping a Cloud Cookoo and Priority is cheaper than Parcel Post. Thanks

  6. Started by stackables,

I bought a set online and the seller gave me a tracking number and for some reason I am getting this error: "Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office". The seller says that the number she gave me is correct. Does anyone have any idea what this means?

Does anyone have any order being shipped by UPS? I have one package from TRU and another from a seller on craigslist that show no tracking information. Is anyone experiencing the same problem? For obvious reasons this makes me nervous. The seller from craisgslist actually sent me a picture of the packaging slip (this time I paid with paypal) and I have no idea what is wrong with the TRU package other than it is getting sent via UPS Mail Innovations.

I've seen a few people say that shipping a bigger LEGO set via UPS is cheaper than USPS. But whenever I compare prices, USPS is always cheaper. What am I missing? Are people getting UPS discounts somehow?

So, I sold a set and it was supposed to be delivered on the 15th but I'm getting this "Status Not Updated" message. Do I have any reason to be worried? I appreciate any input, as I'm not terribly familiar with USPS's standard of service.

  10. What are your selling experiences regarding the demand/ value/ buyers' repsonses when it comes to the question of "what kind of new" a set is? Meaning: How successful have you been in selling NEW sets whose contents you DID VERIFY by (opening and) inspecting the box contents vs. selling NEW sets that were 100 % sealed whose contents you DID NOT VERIFY? (The background of my question is the problem of not really being able to know about the condition of contents in boxes with only seals - which could have been tampered with without visual evidence; hence controlling the content yourself before selling as NEW would be the safest was to be absolutely sure.) …

Testing out a new scale we received as a gift. It accurately weighs a test weight, however, while weighing a number of sealed sets (all of which were purchased from Lego shop at home or in store) we are getting different weights. For example, all of 6 Old Fishing Stores are showing different weights. The differences range from 2 to 8 grams. One box seems weigh out of the range at 30 grams heavier. We are finding a 2 to 10 gram variation in a number of sealed sets. We were hoping to use weight when checking other set purchases from retailers such as Walmart. Is this variance in weight of sealed sets normal? Is there a variance range that would be considered "safe" …

  15. I’m new here. I have a THE Lego fish sculpture that was displayed for years at Disney Marketplace in Orlando Florida. I bought it at a garage sale about 9 or 10 years ago because it was too cool to pass up. It needs to find a new home. Does anyone know how much it might be worth and where I can advertise it? I’d like for it to find a home with someone who will truly appreciate its uniqueness. It is about 4 feet long and weighs around 150 pounds so shipping might be an issue. I think it would be a shame to post it on local Craigslist, but unless I can find a better venue that’s where it will end up.

Hi! i have a collection I’ve vintage Lego that I hope to sell, but I don’t even know where to begin. Many of the sets have no price guide so I have no idea what their value is. Most are in the original boxes (all opened), appear to be complete, with instructions. I’ve taken a few photos. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jerad Not sure if the moon set is complete. Also not sure if the signal set is complete, and the 939 set has had all the stickers fall off. Plus a couple of random sign pieces.

So in another thread, there is a discussion on clearance stickers. How about removing "vintage" price stickers. I recently purchased a huge lot. Including 4 Black Seas Barracudas, 3 with boxes. 2 Skulls Eye Schooners with boxes. 3 Caribbean Clippers (2 with boxes). probably 30-40 classic city and 13 classic space set with boxes. All the boxes have Toys R Us and ShopKo stickers. Do you remove them? I think it adds character to these old sets. I think it's cool seeing that TRU sold the Black Sea's Barracuda for $89.99. But is that similar to seller as seeing a clearance sticker?

  19. Hi all, not sure if this is the right section or if this type of request is allowed here, apologies if this is not the case! Also, please feel free to move if in the wrong section. I am looking for full sealed minifigure series 1, 2, 3 & 7 (ideally 2 full sealed series of each). If you are willing to give good price then happy to buy all in one go from one person. My location is London/UK. Thank you!

Typically when you buy from Wal-Mart online and choose site-to-store for merchandise pick-up the item will come in a shipping box. But sometimes the items isn't boxed and they slap an adhesive label with your name and order right on the product box. This is what happened on my recent Lego order of a Golden Dragon. Fortunately this was a birthday gift for my daughter but had it been for collecting I would have been pissed. Just be aware.....

  21. Soo, I haven't seen anyone else mention this, please let me know if they have - But I stumbled into a WalMart today that had these "beauties" throughout the store: (Specifically, I am referring to the LCD tags, Kohl's/Macy's style - not the LED bars underneath. Including the Toy section. I chatted with one of the employees, and the prices and such will automatically update, so they no longer have to replace tags. Obviously, this will take some of the advantage away from us who know and share what the prices are ahead of time. No idea how it will handle Clearance items, or if they will still stick Clearance Yellow Tags on the shelf next to clearance items…

Hope this is ok to post here, feel free to move if needed. Purchased a #75192 MF from Blinq a little while ago. Due to our recent move hadn't really looked at it much other then to glance over it at receipt. LEGO box was in good shape, seals were open as was listed, boxes inside were mint, bags inside boxes were sealed. Just went to get it out and look it over better and all the guts (bags/instructions/decals) were fake Chinese knockoffs! I'm just over the 30 day easy return period and Blinq doesn't have a phone or chat service! Just sent an email so we will see how they respond or when but I'm thinking of doing a chargeback as well just in case they don't r…

Something just happened that prompted me to write this. It's not a negative thing, just a observation. I have recently got into parting out some sets, so I am having a go at 75902 Scooby Doo Mystery Machine RRP £30. I have all the figures, the Zombie Tree & the Van listed separately. Fred Jones is unique so I sold him for a BIN of £11. A few days later I sold the Van for £15. I'm writing the address, it seems familiar. I check my inbox and yes, its the person who bought Fred Jones from me a few days before. So over about a week they've spent £26 only £4 short of the full RRP of the entire set to get about 60% of it…
