General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by jayishistory,

Does anyone think it might be worth it to buy two of the Sydney Opera House 10234 during the VIP early buying period to quickly try and sell for a profit to those too eager to wait? What do you think this set might go for on ebay doing this? It's way to early to buy these and sit on them for awhile, but would the profit be worth trying this quick flip? Thanks for any responses.

I read many of you rant and rave about Lego in these forums. This site surely is a great place for all of us to vent and share knowledge and deals at the same time. I love Lego and my first toy was a Baby Rattle from the 80s. The sets have came a long way from the old 8860 Technic sports car and the 8851 Technic Excavator that you had to cut your own air tube to connect to the air pumps. I'm sure the futures models will be better for years to come. What's bothering me the most recent were the 10% coupon as well as the free promo policy in recent months. These 2 topics have been discussed on other threads in great length. I took some time talking with store man…

  3. I have a Dymo LabelWriter 4XL I recently bought in a #treatyoself moment. I am now ready to punt it through my office window, as I can't get it to stop from printing a billion labels every time I print from Amazon. Has anyone else had this issue? Frustrating thing is I have followed the support steps, read the forums, set up my printer preferences, etc, and for a few times it worked perfectly. It also works correctly when printing from eBay. But the last couple of times on Amazon it will just keep printing labels endlessly. I think it might be a Java issue related to how it is spooling to print. Anyone have any ideas? Yes, I have searched online and read…

There are a few LEGO stores within a few hour radius of me (one just opened yesterday) and I've never visited any of them. Is there any reason to visit one of these for special deals or promotions or anything? Basically, am I missing out on anything other than "the experience" by not going to these stores? Or am I better off just continuing to order everything online? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

How does everyone handle their receipts for book keeping? I am noticing more and more of my receipts are fading very quickly. Anyone have suggestions for digital management of receipts?

  6. In the "What Lego set did you buy today?" thread, I mentioned a lot I got over on Shop Goodwill, and how my bulk lot was confused with another bulk lot (that ended at the same time). My lot was for 35 lbs for $225 and the other lot was 31 lbs for $111. I suspect that my lot has a Market Street modular in it. When I received the lot yesterday, I went through it and discovered I got the 31 lbs lot. I contacted Goodwill today, and they mentioned that the other buy hadn't received the lot yet. This afternoon, Goodwill contacted me and told me first, that I did receive the correct lot, and they just misweighed it - they'd be willing to refund me a small amount for the mista…

As someone that's a little more interested in building than investing, I decided to take the Craigslist plunge a couple weeks back and finally saw a listing I was compelled to buy, a kid selling a 25 pound tub of assorted pieces for 100 bucks. The transaction was a good experience (rare for CL), apparently there was another buyer but they backed out. The seller was a kid who had been collecting probably since the early 2000's judging by the pieces, looked to be about 14 or so, and was trying to get money to get himself a Nintendo 3DS, so it felt like I was helping him out. As far as the pieces themselves, it wasn't too bad. They were clean for the most part, there…

  8. Hi, I am looking for a US Wholesale Lego distributor, able to ship 3-4000$ worth of Lego for every shipping to Europe, Slovenja. Can you provide this service? Can you tell me the price including delivery to Slovenja (probably Trieste in Italy is the nearest Harbour and/or international airport) ? The reason is I am looking for Lego not distributed in Europe. best regards, M needless to say I'm not interested but I have never dealt with spam on bricklinks so I was a little taken back.

Hello fellow Legophiles. I have found one bad thing about clearance sales on Legos--those stickers they put on the boxes with the clearance price. I got a Diagonal Alley and the tag was over Harry's face. He now looks like one of the dementors got a hold of him. On a subsequent one I had good luck with Goo-Gone but it made me nervous using it. Anybody have any other ideas to get these pesky boogers off?

Anyone know of a good place that sells replica stickers for lego sets? I got a couple sets that are missing stickers and would like to pick some up to complete my sets.

So I screwed up taping my label to my padded envelope and now need to reprint it. I expected to be able to do this from my paypal activity page but I don't see any links that allow me to reprint the label. This is for a trade so no money was exchanged. Never mind. Option was in the email.

Hello I was wondering how many out there actually treat their reselling as a legitimate business. The reason I ask is this: Since I am purchasing LEGOs to resell (at some point!) and I charge sales tax on my purchases, shouldn't I be allowed to use my reseller's license to avoid paying the sales tax myself? Anyone ever tried this with LEGO directly?

Hopefully, this is the right area to post this and I'm sure it's been discussed before. I quickly glanced through the topics and didn't see it but may have missed it. There is a lot of good information on here about buying at discounts (Walmart and Target deals) vs retail prices on S&****. At first glance it seems like a no-brainer, but in some cases it may make more sense to buy from S&**** when you factor in the VIP points and the exclusives you get for that month. I'm assuming free shipping at S&**** as well. What I mean by exclusives is the value they have on say eBay. Last month, early Jorel was routinely going for $15-$20. If you factor the …

Since my venture into Lego investing almost 3 months ago, I've had 3 errors in my favor in the last 3 weeks. Without going into too much detail, they include: Refund where the price difference was swapped with sale price. Website price match & BOGO 50% error resulting in half the items being BOGO 50% twice. Miscount on the number of sets shipped. These errors have occurred from 3 different, large retailers without my influence and found out after the fact. I'm going to chalk this up to human error, holiday rush, BF, CM, etc... I have asked family and friends about what they would do. The answers were interesting to say the least... Most sa…

Hello, I'm in possession of lego system sets from 1950/60s and would like to know if anyone have any information about these sets(valuation, rarity, intersted lego enthusiasts etc.) that would be great, because I'm looking for the best market to sell them. Also they are in great shape, see it yourself.

I've been enjoying some good deals thru Kmart's SWYR program. I have thought about joining Meijer's Mperks and/ or Shopko rewards program. The only thing, the nearest one is hundreds of miles away, I would only be buying Legos on-line. Would it be worth it? I know Meijer's had some great Lego deals recently.

I placed an order last night and got lucky enough to take advantage of a system glitch that provided me with free shipping. I talked with LEGO Shop at Home today to see why I could not order more with free shipping and she told me that the system thought I was ordering from a store. Lucky me! The main reason for this post is that she told me free shipping starts on the 9th, right after double VIP ends.

  20. I can't seem to buy lego on SAH with my paypal balance... Does anyone know why/how I can? Just trying to set my lego buying and selling apart from our personal checking account...so as to minimize discussions about my "habit" without opening another bank account.

  21. Hey all. Has anyone ever purchased from this website? It seems a little shady. Thanks for your input.

We brought this up in another thread and realized that not many people probably know about this so I figured I would make a dedicated post for it. The usual fee for processing your transactions on PayPal is 2.9%. If you process more than $3000 per month you can apply for a lower rate of 2.5% and if you do more than $10,000 per month in sales you can get a 2.2% rate. The application for upgrading takes less than a minute. Here is some more info: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/merchant-fees

  23. Well somehow, I was able to pick up Arkham Asylum for $37 shipped. The box is beat up and has a huge slash through the middle that happened to go through the first page of book 1 of the instructions. As far as my question goes, several of the bags are still sealed and the rest are loose in the box. Do I open the sealed packages and find out what/if I am missing any pieces? The stickers are unused too. Thoughts?
