General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by Miami Bomb Squad,

Has anyone used a P.O. Box to receive Items from Lego S@Home? What are your thoughts?

  2. Hi all, I've looked around everywhere but I'm unable to find any place with these items in stock I'm kindly wondering if anyone has seen them still stocked locally or knows where to find them? Thanks!

This is my first post on Brickpicker (hurray!), I've been lurking for a little while now. My question: does anyone know what the item number listed on the bottom of the box is used for? For example, Uruk-Hai Army set #9471 lists "Item: 4653953" above the UPC code. I'm listing a few sets on Ebay and I'm wondering if this number is important or should be included somewhere. Any replies appreciated, and thanks to everyone for such an awesome site; you've already provided me with tons of useful info.

  5. A fellow trader and I set up a trade. Since the trader was new, I suggested that he send first. He supposedly sent on the 19th without tracking and I still haven't received the figs. The figs were sent via first class, so today would be the 5th day. It shouldn't take too long to get from IN to MI. Obviously, I will wait a couple more days but I was wondering is there anything one could do to track the package down? I assume this is a lost cause.

I have been mulling over this for a while. What do people normally set their BIN listing lengths to? I sort have defaulted to the 30 days but I have noticed (with one exception that sold in 30 mins) most things tend to sell in the last week of the listing. So do people use the 30 day listing period or a shorter one? I am talking here about selling sets, in my case vintage ones, rather than PAB pieces in which I have discovered does not really work on ebay BIN.

Looking for estimates on how much you wise people would pay for the full inventory of a Bricklink store, where the seller is keen to get rid of it all due to leaving the country (how dodgy does that sound?!) I'm in the UK, the parts are in the UK. Total parts count is 110000 approx. A full range of parts, not just rubbish. Comes with all storage that the seller has been using to run the store. Volume takes up one wall about 2m x 3m x 0.3m deep Looking for just a quick estimate. I normally work at 5p a part, so we're looking at about 5500GBP. Anyone got any thoughts? Buying the stuff to sell on BL and/or ebay

  8. So I bought some of those 2x2 buildable bricks at the last LEGO Shop at Home sale. You know, these ones: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Buildable-Brick-Box-2x2-40118 I bought them with the intention of getting my QFFL on and listed them locally for $20. They sat, and sat and sat. No interesting bites. A few offers of $10...which would kind of defeat the purpose of the QFFL. Major bummer right? I dropped the price to $15. They sat, and sat. I then had an epiphany. I opened the pristinely sealed boxes, opened the polybags and dumped the contents in a gallon ziploc bag. I took the minfigure and accessories out and a few black plates. I then relist this gallon bag of assor…

Hi all, I wanted to ask you something. My father is going to move in with his girlfriend and found an old lego set of mine when I was a child, presumably from late '90s. My father thinks it is worth something, but I honestly have no idea. I put it online for sale, but I have honestly no idea what it's worth. My apologies if this in the wrong forum, if it is a stupid question, and I'm also sorry for my bad English. Thank you in advance! Kind Regards, Lily

  11. We all have a strategy when it comes it selling NIB sets vs. selling the minifigs and "vehicles" separately. We probably do a mix of both. - When do you feel it is a good time to move a slow selling NIB set and start selling the minifigs and other items within that set separately? - Does your strategy incorporate minimum starting retail price points on sets you decide to 'part out'? - Do you only do this on high priced sets (and do you even mess with lower priced sets)? - Does your strategy take into account maintaining your TRS status regarding # of sales in a 12-month period? - What about parting out sets early in their life and stocking up on NIB sets 'befo…

Hello all! Like many others before me, I've decided to use bricklink to sell off my spare Lego to help fund my hobby. I've opened up a shop, had my first few orders and ran into a problem. See, I hate all the different fees and shipping costs on BL, so I decided to take another approach. No fees, no shipping costs... Something I'm able to do because I mainly want to sell minifigures with maybe the additional set thrown in. The problem I have is this, if I offer this service and people order a 1 euro minifig ans want to have it shipped to the other side of the world, obviously I'd be losing money. I really don't mind losing out on a bit of money to be able to s…

  14. I am considering ramping up my Bricklink selling efforts, but I am looking to get some advice first from some veterans before I take any serious plunges. Just wondering what some good strategies are, as well as what are the pitfalls to avoid. Thanks in advance!

I recently got started in collecting Lego items but I need to redirect my effort to something else. During this short period of time, I gathered over 200+ new Lego's (mostly Star Wars, some POTC, Space and City). If I don't want to deal with ebay (high fees) or craigslist (scammer headaches), what would be my other options? Perhaps a Lego reseller? Because of the size of my collection, I would prefer to sell them as one package. Some of my items are: 9498 9489 9440 9491 8084 7929 8083 7741 3365 4436 6911 7914 etc

I bought a police station for 60$CAN (reg. 130$) at walmart in clearance section today. And it was the first time I see those "clearance section". And I have the feeling I was too late since the lego section was almost empty. Any know the frequency of Lego clearance at walmart? It probably vary per store. It's each month? If so, it's start the last day of the month or the first?

I've been buying and selling many smaller sets up to values about $150.... Looking to start selling Larger more expensive sets... ie (PS,TH,HH,GE,SSD,etc.) What's the consensus, how and where do you sell your larger sets to avoid scammers? I added a poll to choose from Ebay Ebay (high Buy It Now with best offer to "pick your buyer"?) Craigslist Bricklink Brickpicker Facebook (local classifieds) Other? what are the best practices?

  18. I am shipping an architecture set. Although it is quite heavy, the box is about 12 by 15 inches. I know that UPS seems to be cheaper on an oversize box , but how about where the box isn't huge, just heavy. any ideas which shipper is cheaper? Who appears to be cheaper on heavy items. Thanx for any info

  19. Hello all! Have recently come across a peculiar minifigure and haven't been able to find much on it. Kevin Hinkle was the former AFOL community project manager for LEGO. Hinkle was recently laid off at the end of the 2017 year, and unfortunately no longer with tlg. These minifigures were apparently handed out by these LEGO executives like business cards. See below: Anyway, what would this guy be worth?

I need to sell to fund some of my next purchases but I am wondering which of my sets can I sell in order not to go in the future smashing my head against a wall. The candidates I have in mind are: 41999 - I have 2 units, would sell one. 10210 - Only one unit. Kinda interested in keeping it. 10193 - Only one unit. Not too interested. 4842 - Only one unit. Do not take this away from my hands please. I know that 10193 is in a different ballpark as figures go, but it'd be nice to have some dough to fund my addiction future investments, which will be determined by what I sell. Thoughts?

  23. Curious... can an ebay gift card be used to purchase something that has been invoiced through PayPal? (this would be a purchase outside of ebay)

  24. As luck would have it I'll be in Europe during the May 4th event for Lego and have been thinking about stocking up on exclusives(assuming Lego even discounts any exclusives) that I can't get any discounts usually as a US resident. Provided that I can stock up what's the most cost effective way to ship these back home or is it unlikely that I'll be able to and it will cost me more money to ship than I'll be saving?

So depending on what lines you have chosen to invest in- are there any sets that you have that you are sick of looking at- wish someone would buy it already? Mine: Lone Ranger Jurassic world Although the obvious is that LR is a not sought after theme, and JW was so massively hoarded that there is not much meat on the bone. Needless to say that sales were promising around BF and have since fizzled out considerably.
