HURRICANE SANDY and its effects on BrickPicker.com...

To all BrickPicker members...

I just want to bring to your attention(if you are not aware already), that a huge storm is heading towards the middle Atlantic Coast of the United States. The center of the storm is supposed to hit central New Jersey on Monday and remain in the area for days. The storm is supposed to knock down a million trees across the Washington D.C., Philadelphia and New York City areas. I would imagine that there will be millions without power for an extended period of time.

Jeff and I both live in central New Jersey and it's safe to say that we will be without power as well. The servers for the site are in Texas, so I don't think the site will have any issues operating, but Jeff and I might not be able to respond to issues or problems on the site for days, maybe more. If there is an interruption in service, please be patient. We will eventually be back up and running as soon as conditions permit. For all of you who are in the path of this storm...good luck, be safe and move your LEGO sets to a high and dry place in your house.

Godspeed...

Ed and Jeff Mack

It's great to hear your all ok! I hear Chris Christie is going to change the date of Halloween for everyone who missed out. :)

Phew! Well, I am certainly very esctatic that you guys made it out in one piece.

Jesus, I've heard around 40 people were killed, a whole neighborhood burned to the ground, and the top of a skyscraper crane was broken and just dangling there practically on a thread because of the insanely strong winds!

You don't appreciate the quiet nights until you go through a night like we did last night...

I know exactly what you're talking about there!

Still, glad to hear that you're okay. (Shaken up but still okay.)

The news has reported & confirmed the death toll in the US is currently around 109. The stats so far. New York City: 41 New Jersey: 22 Pennsylvania: 12 Maryland: 11 Rest of New York state: 8 West Virginia: 6 Connecticut: 4 Virginia: 2 North Carolina: 2 Puerto Rico: 1 At least 69 people killed in the Caribbean, including 54 in Haiti and 11 in Cuba. And it just keeps counting. Jesus Christ....

Still a very bad situation in north/coastal NJ, Staten Island, NYC...Gas lines that are 5 miles long. People fighting, getting stabbed, looting....DUMPSTER DIVING for food. There are some parts of the area that have a 3rd world nation feel to them. It paid to live inland this time around...

It paid to live inland this time around...

I hear ya. I live on the east coast myself, but atleast a few miles away from the coastline.

The winds and thunderstorms still got pretty bad down here.
