10188 for £250 last year is no different from the SC being £225 this year, its still effectively 10% discount !? In fact last year 10188 was probably £247.5 (being pedantic).  That may seem like a bargain now as the set is trending at around £450.  In a year or two's time you may look back at the SC when its doing the same and say £225 was also a bargain price?!

I completely agree, maybe i should have put a lol at the end of my post. I do like the May 4th shop at home sales but my £98 10240's from argos look a lot sweeter than my £155 ish 10240's from shop at home. Basically may 4th offers are good for the average lego fan who doesnt constantly check for bargains like an investor.

No offense meant, but I would like to know if you have built a LEGO set so I could respond accordingly.  To me, you kinda took a shot at a lot of us on the site, basically saying that our choice to collect and build LEGO sets is more or less silly and not up to your standards.  It also tweaked me that you question our passion and want to take advantage of it for personal gain only.  With the name Frank Brickowski, I would hope that you had some interest in the LEGO brick.  Maybe the name, Frank Flipkowski, would be more appropriate.

It's that same attitude that ruined a lot of great things and some truly awful things as well. People who had no passion or even interest in a thing charging after it for the main chance crash the market for it. They don't try to shepherd or safeguard the product because all they are interested in is the quick money, they are not invested in its future. Because of that, they buy and flip, buy and flip, running up sales, increasing production, creating wider diversity into questionable offshoots. The flipper who cares nothing for the product is frequently dismissive if not hostile towards not only others who also buy to resell (as they are seen to be cutting into his profits) but also those dumb enough to buy the products from him, since they are foolishly spending their money on toys or whatever.

I know this is all bubble thread talk, but I feel like there's some value in the OP being called out for the attitude that says that everyone here are fools and every one of his customers are too. If you can't at least respect the product that you are hoping to make money on, at least respect the people that you are selling to. After all, without them, you'd be stuck with a bunch of worthless plastic.

2 FO Stormtroopers for £15 each and a Mr Freeze for £9. Every little bit helps

Honestly for what I thought was a pretty poor promo those FO troopers are going for a good penny.  Leaving Freeze and a lot of other SW figs in the dust.
Buying wisely at LEGO Shop at Home after the discount, double VIP and poly you can actually work out some good deals.

Just gonna chime in here, I am a vendor at numerous comic cons, fan expos, etc, and let me say this. Never in my life have i seen so many people dressed up as one character as REY. Its truely unreal, imo any set with rey will be humming this year. Maybe just hype but i duno..

goat out.

That hardly makes it a good deal.  I can't sell an unofficial set for $250 on eBay.

May The 4th is about a Star Wars day celebration. You can celebrate by building this cool special set that was released this year.

Its not always about making money. Its about enjoying Star Wars..... May the 4th be with you

IIRC, you had yours listed before you even had in hand...

You feel so strongly about it is why you bought 5 sets to build? Got it...

That's an asinine comment, no I bought one to build and display. Did you buy 5 Tumblers to build & display? I didn't think so...

So why would you even make a statement like that

You are right that it is not always about making money, but we are discussing this in the daily LEGO deals thread.  May the 4th is a Star Wars celebration, but it's purpose is to promote sales for the brand.  Star Wars is about movies, merchandise, and money.  A very limited edition set, similar to the SDCC sets, which I did not have the opportunity to get as part of the promotion does not make the May the 4th deals any better for me.

It was in the daily deals, but is now here... feel free to return to the daily deals when you guys are ready. :) Until then, if you want to keep discussing the May the 4th specifics, this isn't such a bad place for that... :phone:

*Edit.. oh and if you're bored with May the 4th specials this year, why don't you check out the meteor shower later this evening.*

Had a good afternoon with the family.  Worked from home this morning and went to the Lego Store/Disney Store with the kids during my lunch.  My wife homeschools our kids, so we never think about the fact that the events aren't going on until after school hours.  The Disney Store was kind enough to start some of the activities early for them, I can't praise that store enough for their customer service.

Impulse bought a stack of First Order Trooper packs and got a few of the promo stormies at the Lego Store.  On my way to building an army... I really wish they would have included 2 normal stormies instead of the officer.  Oh well, happy Star Wars Day everyone!

The LEGO store display helps sell that set.

The LEGO store in Cherry Hill always does a nice job with the monthly builds and my son always gets very intense when building the set.  I never leave the LEGO store without my son building some crazy mixed up minifigures from the minifigure bin, but at least it gives me some time to admire the displays and new sets.
