I suggested this to Ed earlier today to have communities based on location where members can exchange which stores they got their deals from, meeting up and trading sets, etc. Based on my count, there are at least 87 Targets, 39 Toys R Us', over 100 Walmart's(lost count after 110), and 4 LEGO Shop at Home stores in Illinois. To start things off, I am usually in the Chicago area. I usually go to 4 Targets that are located near my house/school. They are: Chicago McKinley Chicago West Loop Chicago Mid North Chicago Near North Occasionally, I will go to a Walmart or two, and rarely go to the Lego Store because it is located in the middle of Downtown. For me, I like the Chicago West Loop location because it is new. Though all the Targets I have been to always seem to have understaffed checkout lines, I still enjoy looking on their shelves for anything that might have been misplaced. I believed that this is the location that has very organized Clearance shelves, usually with a couple employees lurking around ready to answer questions, or check the prices for stuff. While I was last at this location (Saturday), there were at least 20 Lego Heroica Draida Bay sets for about $4. I heard that Heroica was going to discontinue, so I only picked up a couple to sell immediately. Hope this theme of member location based forums grows!!!!

Any of you guys been to the stores today?  My dad is thinking about going to get a Revan but I don't want him to waste his time.

Went to NBC and got 2, they were slow and the girl said they had em....I ended up getting a backpack guy, banana guy and a dog show guy just b/c but also a yoda key chain + DR. Then the wife went in and got the 2nd one.

just left downtown location... they were strict on the one per household rule, good thing i brought a friend. Got a decent deal, as micro ghosts were only 7.99

I suggest you post a simple Want Ad in the Forums here and start taking offers from people.  If you're willing to ship it, then it might be worth the time and money.

There is too much to ship honestly, best for a local pick up.

@dman2900 - will try and get a list together.  Also close to 1k minifigs from various series etc...

I am sure some (if not all) the people here would be interested in seeing said list. You posted in the Chicago Area Forums, anyone checking here is probably relatively close, and would be willing to travel within reason to pick up a good enough lot. I know I might be!

 

Which direction from Chicago, or inside the actual City border?

I am in the city proper.  I did send about 30% of it to amazon in Q4 of 2016 so some of these sets need to mature a bit more.  Mostly smaller-mid size sets left, those actually did really well for me on amazon.  It will most likely be a week before I can compile a full list. Thanks for the interest and info on what I should do.

I will be set up at the NWI Comic-con this Saturday, Feb. 25th....Hope to see some of you there!

Hello, local competition. I lurk both those walmarts frequently and never saw those in the clearance sections there. Did the price just drop on them? Those Kylo ren shuttles on 29th and cicero have been taking forever to drop past 50% off

HI - I'm starting to unload my lego collection.  I posted a few of them on Craglist ($450 for Town Hall 10224, $700 for Super Star Destroyer 10221 and $350 for 10188 Death Star).  Will start selling more on ebay in the near future.  Anyone interested locally in purchasing my collection in person, please reach out to me.  Cost is likely less than Ebay for those local  who can pick up.
