28.6 Billion DKK = $4.6 Billion USD

$4.6B/85 Million Kids = $54.11/kid

Now for some guesstimates which provide interesting data:  You're welcome to change these assumptions if you care.

Assume average set wholesale cost (over the entire product range) is $30:

$4.6B/$30 = 153 Million sets

Assume 1500 different sets in production (taken from 2011-2015 set numbers and guessing retirements):

153 Million/1500 ~ 100,000 units/set (per year)

Most interesting....

As another way to calculate how may sets Lego makes each year, you can find bits of data on the net.  This article states "Approximately 7 Lego sets are sold every second around the world".

This yields:

7 sets/sec x 3600 s/hr x 24 hr/day x 365 day/yr = 220 Million Sets/year.   Surprisingly close to the figure in the post, above (153 Million).

Make of this what you will, I'm a data junkie and love these kinds of analysis.
