This probably belongs in the "other things we invest in" thread but that has turned in the "investing in Frozen" thread... I want to know who is going to invest invest in the largest IPO to date this Friday? Anyone else betting the house on BABA? Why or Why not? I am putting as much cash as I can muster ASAP b/c I have no idea how you could go wrong with the largest retailer on the face of the planet and they are just starting to really grow. (They are barely international at the moment.)

I know that the forum is more about having fun than about serious stuff (other than business) but I wanted to bring this to everybodys attention: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34814203 For most here this might be far far away but for me it's my neighbourcountry. I've been to Paris several times (the city not people with stupid names) and thinking of how out of nowhere these attacks have been it's just shocking and frightening. There is not better reason than luck that I haven't been there. I'm sure after 9/11 U.S.Americans are (over)sensitive to that matter as well and having had the Boston attacks (and others) that's a topic that might…

This certainly won't hurt the value of the LEGO ships, especially some of the lesser known ones like the Y/A/B-Wings and maybe even some of the TIE Variants. Who knows how well they have aged, but these two games were way ahead of their time and fantastic back then. Old guys like me rediscovering them (and their kids, and a new generations with Rebels and new Star Wars movies) could be a nice side boost to the starfighter kits. Though quite frankly, I don't really care how it effects LEGO prices. I am pumped they are doing this. Now to find the time to actually play... http://kotaku.com/x-wing-tie-fighter-are-finally-getting-digital-re-rele-1651470045?ut…

In the interest of this post, and me being a huge fan of the TV show LOST, I thought I'd start a topic. I loved the show. I loved the mysteries. I loved the answered (and unanswered) questions. I loved the endings. For me, LOST was one of the best televisions shows ever, and the ending was perfect. I also get that many people either didn't like it, didn't like the mysteries, or didn't like how the show ended. So, let's chat. I doubt I'll change any minds, but I'm always willing to talk about the show.

I like to buy from the pick a brick wall at the Lego store. I don't usually reuse the cups for the discount so I end up having way too many cups. I took up cup decorating.

What began as a simple video-sharing service started by three former PayPal employees way back in February 14 of 2005 later to be purchased by Google in November 2006 has since become a staple of the internet and our lifestyles (for most of us). The very first uploaded clip was a guy's brief trip to a local zoo with some commentary which is completely mild where today's uploads can range from a variety of critics raging on about some movie, a gamer showing off how fast he/she can beat that insane level of Sonic, to even a corporation like BBC reporting what's happening. There is a high volume of absurdity to be found unfortunately between the comments section on many or c…

Just wondering if there are any big Android users out there that have used this new Nexus 7 tablet and if it's any good. Two reasons. It looks like it has some decent features for a good price, especially the 8GB version. The other is I wonder if it is something people are going to buy and use as I continue to build the mobile/tablet app for BrickPicker.

Friend of mine is going to visit me very soon and I was wondering If I'll be able to buy myself a phone online (off contract) with shipping to his address so he can later take the phone with himself onboard. I'm looking for Blackberry KeyOne phone. Can you help me with some websites? RPP for this phone is set to 549USD. I don't want to bother him with searching for this etc.... but since you folks are so market oriented maybe you able to share some hints or advices where I could buy one with continental shipping within US. thanks.

I know it's not lego related, but who do you think will win the game today? On a Lego related note, do you think TLC should make a sports theme like football or baseball? TLC already made the basketball theme.

So, here's an odd story. On my neighborhood's Facebook page, on Friday, someone posted a picture of a FedEx Ground truck. They asked if anyone knew what was going on, as it had been sitting there for a few days, appearing to not have moved. Of course, neighborhood drama and discussion ensued, with questions of "why doesn't someone call the Sheriff?" "Why doesn't someone call FedEx?" "Why doesn't someone call the media?" It took a good day before someone actually DID anything other than suggest that someone do something. Someone went and checked it out, and it was unlocked, and loaded with local packages for delivery. That person locked the truck up. The…

Thought this deserved its own thread so doesn't clog up other ones. USA Basketball lost once again, this time to France. Will be interesting to see how they turn this around. Too many people making excuses for the team when they really be playing better, seems to me that: 1. Team selection was based on a "shooting" team, as they expected to just 3 pointer the opposition to death, this obviously hasn't been working. 2. People saying that US aren't playing there best players, but that's up for players to choose to play for the team. Too many just want to play for NBA and don't care about Olympics. 3. No excuse for team chemistry, as players once again ch…

A cool podcast to listen to ... reminds me a lot of the LEGO trading network here. If you like other things that people trade and invest in that might seem odd ... then this is a great listen ... http://www.econtalk.org/archives/2016/01/josh_luber_on_s.html Just out today. Description from EconTalk here: How many pairs of sneakers do you own? Josh Luber of Campless and StockX talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about the world of sneakerheads--people passionate for collecting and trading sneakers. Each week people line up to buy classic sneaker models Nike re-releases. Luber has collected millions of transactions from Ebay on these sneakers an…

Hi everyone! Has any of you tried the Star Wars Force Collection game? It's a card game in which you collect cards, battle with them join legions with ships and participate in wars, etc... I find the game fun and somewhat competitive when trying to trade your cards with others. Most players try to slip you low level rarity cards for rare cards, but overall it's really fun. I was just wondering if any Brickpickers are playing it. Cheers!
