Here is a question for the builders, what is your favorite part? It can range from something you find aesthetically pleasing or universally usable.

I thought it might be helpful to get a thread going for indecisive people like me. I would be open to others listing their "dilemmas" as well in order to avoid multiple threads. I ordered the Grand Emporium, but as I somewhat expected the order was cancelled due to it being over sold. I had decided that I was going to spend about $150 on a set to build this month, but I am having trouble deciding what to go with. The investment potential is at the bottom of my list, I am more looking for an enjoyable build and something that will look good on display. My hope is to build a city for my son as time goes on. Here are my ideas so far: Fair Ground Mixer Pala…

Has anyone ever done this? I think it would be uber fun, (albeit wastefull) to build an old set like Jango Fett"s Slave 1 mint out of the box today. It would be so wierd to be getting those classic gray/grey pieces out of an unopened bag!

Hey everyone, I posted a version of my Unimog recently.. here are more pictures and another video. For full details of this project check out my mocpages http://mocpages.com/moc.php/407959 I am too lazy to put it all here I had lots of fun with this project, and I think it raises some "firsts" or at least breaks some ground in Technic building in new areas. First, I have no idea for certain, and will probably be proved wrong (which is fine by me) but this model may have the largest third party tires used for Technic models. They are nearly 6 inches tall! I have not seen any taller. Second, I haven't really seen any models being used for muddin'. We hav…

Here is my rendition of a drag racer “funny car.” Not built for looks, but for acceleration. This was achieved by both including raw power but also limiting the weight of the model (989 grams), and also reducing friction as much as possible (thus the odd front wheels). This build was somewhat inspired by Lego 42050. Contrary to many, I actually really like Technic set 42050. Not for looks to be sure, but at least the looks were consistent with the name usually given to these cars (i.e. “funny car”; TLG mercifully titled the 42050 “drag racer” but I think “funny car drag racer” fits better). The obvious lacking in the set was any speed. How can you have a drag racer a…

Here is a starting handful of "super heavy investment in parts" starcrusiers for your perusal from this year's SHIPtember building event with more to be posted in due time. Lego has updated their minisite for The Lego Movie with a section called Create & Combine. Basically, it is an area for builds Lego has come up with that only use pieces from two different sets to make something new meaning it is quite easy to do these yourself. So far there is a total of six different designs, one of which is just instructions and a parts list. Anyway, you can see what the two sets needed for the combination are after downloading the instructions or just check out the attached images here. Via The Brick Fan

Hey Folks, I just visited our local cinema because they have one giant MF in their entrance area as a promo for Rogue one. This monster MOC is build from a Legoholic around town. He states that this is the biggest MF in the world (except the real one in a galaxy far far away ) ! It has around 35.000 pieces and the outer shell contains mostly the original grey pieces. It's about 1,83 metres (6 ft) long and 1,24 (around 4 ft) metres wide and it took 2 years to build it. But enjoy the pics yourself. just wanted to share this, all credits goes to this insane guy who build it. I was very impressed by this MOC! And I was quite suprised to find something…

For my final post of this year, I am proud to introduce the Range Rover Evoque with air ride. The car was too black so I added white, it was too low so I raised it a stud and the hood wasn't slanted enough so I re-created the front of the vehicle. I reduced the weight to 6.3 pounds (2850g) The car functions really well, I highly suggest using an S-brick for this car as the receivers are hidden behind the seats. This car has 4wd, air ride, torsion bar suspension, 2 XL motors for drive, 2 m motors for lift, V8, servo for steering, gear shifter turns on the lights. The car is finally to a perfect scale. The hard parts of this build was the air ride, torsion b…

This F1 Racecar was something Dugald and I have been talking about doing for a long time. All of the regular batteries and motors just aren't fast enough. We tried our best to keep everything light weight, but enough paneling to show the curves of a real F1. Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHskMrkHjm Fastest car we've ever built by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Technic Addict was so kind to lend us his RC buggy motors, battery pack and Michelin tires. (I am quite fond of those tires, but I checked bricklink and found the cheapest used pair to be 110$ for all 4 so yeah... not going to buy em Back end fun by lachlan cameron, on F…

I just finished my version of the Grand Emporium. I had to use 3 1/2 GE's for this building. My inspiration was a picture from the web: Especially the windows in the middle are very nice. But i wanted a larger MOC with 2 original GEs on the left and the right. (corner buildings on the left and the right, a straight building in the middle) The GE on the right is 100% a GE, the one on the left is almost original. I only had to change the roof, because i wanted to have the large windows next to the straight MOC windows. The straight MOC was build with parts from 2 GEs, especially the tan parts. I still have to build the interior of the straight MOC (m…

A dark cloud has settled over Legoland, as war has erupted between two of its proudest themes! For over a year, Heartlake City and Fabuland have coexisted by maintaining a tenuous ceasefire. That all changed the day after the Communist Dictator of Fabuland passed away, leaving his only son to take his place. Eager to prove he is nobody's fool, and clearly trying to compensate for a plethora of shortcomings, Fabuland's new leader, Patrick Pig has declared war on the Friends of Heartlake City! As a result of this provocation, President Olivia and Secretary of Defense Mia, has called their Friends to arms. Inside sources tell us that they haven't seen the Friends this fire…
