In the past of I have relied on third party software to help me determine the cheapest possible route when buying parts from Bricklink. Brickficiency and Brick Wizard are two great programs that do that. However, both of these programs seem to be broken. Brickficiency hasn't been updated since Nov 2014 and Brick Wizard was from Jan 2015. It does sound like the developer of Brick Wizard is aware of the current issues and may have a solution however he doesn't have the time to update the program. Has anyone found a replacement program? Or am I stuck with just searching the store masses to find the best combinations? Thanks,

You may have heard of Pepa Quin before if you can recall the huge city of New New York from Futurama he did a year or so ago. Anyway, his next challenge was the city of Springfield from The Simpsons. via The Brick Fan

Hey folks, Maybe someone on here can help me with this.... How well can LEGO be dated using the various markings on the bottom of pieces? Do markings like Pat Pend., Pat Pend. (obscured), etc. fall within very specific dates? Would some vintage sets have had a mixture of both markings in the same set for instance? Also, is the there a timeline anywhere which outlines when sets went from using old production pieces or markings, to newer production? Like, since when have the current types of brick (thinner sides, different type of plastic etc) and plates been in use? Or is there anywhere where I can find this kind of info? …

Hi, I'm new to this website. I just wanted to share with you my latest MOC. I am pleased to announce my most challenging and rewarding build, the American supercar, the Hennessey Venom GT. IMG_0030 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Flickr photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHskNRp6jE IMG_1242 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr This build has a V8 twin turbo engine, a motorized rear wing, working steering wheel, 6x lights and a 8 inch GPS built into the center console. IMG_1089 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr This car has quite a few new ideas and build styles that I will definitely be pursuing in the future. IMG_1257 by lachlan cameron…

It would seem the Hot Wheels/Matchbox sized LEGO sets of 2005-2011 inspired a style of small sleek street rods across the community. Some pretty good usage with so few parts in my opinion. Just finished this up, figured I'd post it up. The goal was to leave the Haunted House set untouched but to build around it. I also wanted to be able to open the house. All in all I'm happy with how it turned out. Thoughts and comments appreciated.

A tad late with this annual monthly building theme topic (considering MaKtoberfest already is in effect) so I apologize for that but anyway let's go with the flow and see what this year has brought. There is a ton of designs to search for and through as usual therefore this thread will take a while to fill up. In the meantime here are some fantastic space cruisers with more to come. Here is a selection of minifigure dioramas as part of a collaborative effort between KevFett2011 and Tuxedo Greedo. (These should be all of them unless either builder makes more down the road.) I finally finished my build of the 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon yesterday. Such an Epic build! I highly recommend it to anyone out there to give this thing a go at least once if you get the opportunity. I have built plenty of large sets before including at least half a dozen UCS sets but nothing compared to this. As I was building it I really got the sense that the designers went all out and no expense was spared in creating it. All the little greebling parts were not skimped on at all and the rigid internal frame was superbly engineered to hold the large weight of the model. It took me many many hours, perhaps 50+ working off an on over the last 6 wee…

I'm building a Palace Cinema set, and noticed one item is in the box but the wrong color. Is this worth it to report to Lego and ask for a replacement? It's nothing special just a 1x4 piece in the box is a brownish one and according to the manual it should be black.

You can have the article translated automatically via Google Chrome, but basically it says that 16 yrs old built within a year this MF. Its 163 by 118 cm, consists of 70.000 pieces and what is most interesting.. the kid concluded that the price of all the bricks was just cca 300 USD more than the original UCS version.. unbelievable.. https://www.idnes.cz/jihlava/zpravy/lego-millennium-falcon-stavebnice-hvezdne-valky-pelhrimov-rekord-kuriozita-mezina-vysocina-radek-pop.A191211_084929_jihlava-zpravy_mv

The new Arocs Technic truck (42043) should excite a lot of people. With the new pneumatic II pieces that are out, the set will one day bring in a nice price on the secondary market. However, I love it for other reasons. Just finished building it....and it was a blast. Also, I remember years ago when the Mercedes Benz Unimog came out and Artifex Creations put out a lighting kit specifically designed for the truck which was pretty cool. Their site is down for maintenance, and I am not sure if they are in the Lego lighting business anymore, but I thought of doing the same thing with the Arocs. I used the products are lifelights.com. Pretty happy with the results. A brief …

I bet a lot of people here would meet the job qualifications (Do you have “LEGO building experience” and “a good knowledge of LEGO parts”?): http://qz.com/600927/dream-job-alert-legoland-is-hiring-model-builders/ Assuming location wouldn't be a problem (Florida): would you do it?

For those who build I was wondering. When building do you prefer building by instructions an "Emmet", or building without instructions "Master Builder"? I'm way more to the side of without. Just a big kid who never paid enough attention to every step. That and I still have way more fun building what ever from a pile of bricks. ***/f is the polar opposite, prefers building with instruction, and "having it right".

Does anyone have any good advice on how to remove a helmet from a minifig head? My son shoved on a Kre-o Transformer helmet onto a Lego minifig head, and the fit is so tight I can't get it off no matter how hard I try. Does anyone have any tips/tricks on the best non-destructive way to remove it? I guess worst case scenario I can try to tear the Transformer helmet apart... But that's a last resort. Thanks!

After some random research and browsing of certain sets (mainly City and modular houses), I noticed something a little discerning. A large lack of baseplates in any set at all anymore. For example, take a good look at the previous Fire Station in 2010. Aside from having a wierd floorplan, it used four baseplates of two different types. 16 x 16 baseplate with driveway & 8 x 16 baseplate Now take a look at this year's Fire Station. Less wierd floorplan but the structure is more odd and absolutely no baseplates used. Everything is thick three 16 x 16 plates and a single 8 x 16 plate. I don't know about you but for $100 I expect some actual baseplates t…
