So last night my wife convinced me of putting together a 10222 to be a part of our Holiday Village that we are displaying in our living room. The build was fun and the final outcome was awesome. I had put together last December the 10199 and thought it was, also, a cool, fun build with a sweet final result. The colors, the pieces - some of them were new to me -, the minifigures... Pretty enjoyable experience. The downside, my set came short of one piece, one of the unique pieces of this set, a brown 'sky', Brickset part 6020989. I have already contacted Lego over this, I expect them to ship the missing piece anytime now. First time this has ever happened in my…

Does anybody keep batteries in their Legos? In other words, I have the Technic Motorized Excavator and am worried that if I don't use it the batteries may corrode.

The new sets for the past few years have been too organized with their bagging. The bags used to be unnumbered to at the most from 3 bags each numbered from 1 through 4. Nowadays the sets goes from bag 1 to bag 13. The builds now seems to dumbed down since the bags are so organized. When I build I just dump everything into 1 big pile to slow it down. Does anyone else feel the same way with your newer builds?

I guess it's because the Gallery is kind of that button that's hiding in plain sight, but I believe not many people have seen my MOCs I've put there yet (or any of the other uploads there by others). So, for those who only pay attention to the forum posts, here's a link...to the Gallery! LFoW's MFZ MOCs. This is a small collection of my mini-mech models I build for a LEGO tabletop game by the name of Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack, where you build the mechs you use as gamepieces, the terrain, and the guns all out of LEGO (or similar brands). I'll be doing a large in-depth blog or forum post on it soon, so look for that in the future! …

Another builders question from me. I'm curious to hear what more experienced builders and MOC'ers do when they wish to design a build. Do you start off with a sketch on paper and/or design it virtually with a CAD program? How about coming up with a list for parts; do you create a little checklist and go down the line? Do you research to see what currently available sets contain most of the parts needed, just buy what you need through Bricklink, or maybe visit the Pick-a-Brick wall at a nearby Lego Store? Whatever it may be, I'd like to hear about your methodical processes.

So i currently own every modular building, once i pick up the Parisian Restaurant that would make 9 total, plus i have plans to make 2-3 MOC buildings and a park. Im trying to figure out how to arrange/display that many buildings. if i do it linear with a street in front of the buildings that almost 9 feet, roughly the whole wall of my basement lol. if i put buildings on both sides of the road i maximize use of the road (custom built 1x2 tile road to look like a stone road) What do you all recommend? anyone have any good pictures of a large modular display?

After some random research and browsing of certain sets (mainly City and modular houses), I noticed something a little discerning. A large lack of baseplates in any set at all anymore. For example, take a good look at the previous Fire Station in 2010. Aside from having a wierd floorplan, it used four baseplates of two different types. 16 x 16 baseplate with driveway & 8 x 16 baseplate Now take a look at this year's Fire Station. Less wierd floorplan but the structure is more odd and absolutely no baseplates used. Everything is thick three 16 x 16 plates and a single 8 x 16 plate. I don't know about you but for $100 I expect some actual baseplates t…

I have about a hundred lbs of loose, random LEGO and I need to figure out how to best sort and separate the pieces... what categories do you recommend for easy navigation? I have TONS of different pieces like train, boat, etc. stuff that I have no idea what to do with. Need to come up with a gameplan so I can figure out what to store it in, how many totes I need, whatever. Feeling super overwhelmed with this!

I was thinking about Bricklinking a 10179 at one point, and if you don't know, the Lattice pieces in the back cost about $320 for ONE PIECE of Lego. What do you think? What is the most you would pay for one piece to complete a set? I would just use a substitute. Assuming it didn't make a huge difference, I would spend maybe $20 on one piece before I went elsewhere. What about you all?

How do you all buy your sets to build and why? I generally gravitate towards used sets put together that are complete. Cheapest way to get them and I have no problem disassembling them and putting them back together? How about it? Make sure you say why!

Here is a builders question for anyone who has put together any of the modular houses. We have a topic for Which is your favorite modular? with its own poll while here I would like to gauge what people have found to be the most challenging or easiest of all the modular houses when being built as well as what you would recommend to someone else as an enjoyable build experience. Note: It is not mandatory for the poll or even this thread to have built each modular house set in question. I do not expect anyone or everyone to have done so as it is rather unrealistic. Just share the experience for the ones you have and give your honest opinion on those.

Hi, I have recently started using the Lego Digital Designer to build a waterway for a pirate ship set I have. I am finding that some of the pieces that are in the Lego Designer program are hard to locate. I am using some blue transparent plates to help make the water, and I have having a hard time finding anything like it on Pick-A-Brick through Lego. I also know of Bricklink.com, but through a few searches I haven't found any there either. Any suggestions for finding these bricks after I get my design finished? Thanks.

Looking for ideas on sets I can procure a decent amount and variety of tan and brown pieces from.. obviously if the sets are readily available, that would help. Jabbas Palace is the only thing I can think of, but not sure those minifigs would recoup enough of the purchase to make it worthwhile.
