Harry Potter

Discussion for collecting and investing with Harry Potter themed sets.

J.K. Rowling has given fans a glimpse of the grown-up boy wizard in a new story posted Tuesday on her Pottermore website. It's the first update since "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was published in 2007, but Rowling spokesman Mark Hutchinson said there are "no plans" for a new Potter novel. T…

Is this an exclusive to LEGO Shop at Home? I cannot find it listed on Amazon, Walmart, Target, Meijer or B&N. Any other retailers carrying this set?

I recently bought a huge lot of the first rounds of the HP LEGO line, and found really cool how well they fit together to make the complete Hogwarts Castle with almost every single room, as well as some of the other locations. The newer 4842 is definitely the best looking HP castle, but to be honest had I been into this back when the original sets were released I would have probably preferred those to the new ones. A little video where you can see all of the sets put together:

  6. I'm pretty new to the Lego investing game. I've purchased a few big and medium size sets for long term hold, and trying to earn more investing money by being active on craigslist to flip some sets. Today I bought a complete set 4842 Hogwart's Castle for $100. It has all the parts, the manuals, but no box. I'm pretty sure I can flip it within a week for $250. So, two questions. 1) Is a quick flip for $150 profit the best answer on this set? Is it a sell now, sell at Christmas, or hold longer? 2) Or is there a better place to put the $150 profit right now? Where? The sets on my long-term hold wish list are Pet Shop, Palace Cinema, T1 Camper Van, and maybe Tower Bridg…

I am trying to sell this Harry Potter Lego model that I won from Toys R Us over 10 years ago, but I cannot find anything like it on the internet. Would anyone know what something like this would go for? It is 12" high and the box itself is 18". Thanks for any input!

Do you recommend that I sell all of the sets together or separately? I am going off to college and my mom wants to get rid of them, but thankfully I stopped her before she gave all of my sets away. With that said, I would like to get rid of them for the most money because well college is expensive. So, what do you recommend should I sell sets together like the lego sets sold from 2001 together? Or should I sell them all in separate sets?

Greetings: I have a small collection of HP sets (3 Burrows, 2 DA, 2 Hogwarts, 2 Hog Express, 1 Hagrid Hut, and a couple Quid Matches). I know this question is routinely asked and answered but I couldn't find it before posting. I've been checking ebay every week or so for the last couple of months, and with the exception of the burrow and maybe express, I haven't seen the prices going up too much. What are the thoughts on when to sell these sets? Much appreciated!

  16. Started by white tiger,

Where is the best place to sell Harry Potter legos? I looked at eBay and most of the sets are not selling which makes me hesitant to post them there. It looks like Amazon is only selling new sets and not used sets, although I do not know if that is accurate or not, and there is nothing listed on Craigslist. Any ideas?

Found about half of a Hogwarts 4842 in a used lot, the dining hall and the other big entrance building... do I bother attempting to find the other bags for this set to build the other 2 towers? Starting to look through BL, but this seems like a giant headache and I'm guessing it's going to cost me just as much to gather it is as it will bring it if I sell it. I wouldn't mind even displaying it, but I can't find a decent process that isn't almost worth just paying the used eBay prices for a complete one.

Are these completely gone from shelves at this point, or is there anywhere I should look to try to pick them up? I heard B&****** might be the only shot if I got lucky somewhere.

  22. Hi all, A question for those who have build Diagon Alley. Are the 3 buildings completely separate as packed? Meaning if you build Olivander's wand shop first, should you have any leftover pieces for the next two buildings? I am curious as I bought a semi-used one off of Craigslist the other day - Olivander's was built, and is 100% complete, but the other two buildings were never opened from their bags or constructed. Trying to decide if I want to sell some of them solo - like just sell Gringotts by itself, etc. Any help appreciated.

  23. I have recently been snatching up some minifigures from retired sets from brick link. I ordered a bunch of voldemort heads for the figure that is in 4842 and 4865 and a little more than half of the heads have the new recessed stud while the others have the original open stud with the 3 spokes that I was expecting. Bricklink has a separate listing for the voldemort head with the recessed stud but does not identify any sets that contain this particular variation. Does anyone know what set this comes from? My hope is that maybe the new head was introduced in the middle of the production run for 4842, 4865 or both and that either version could potent…
